Loss of Sexual Function in Men: Could it be Sleep Apnea?

There’s nothing like a good night’s sleep to make a guy feel like a new man. It’s a well-known fact that getting plenty of sleep is a crucial factor in determining overall health - but an appropriate amount of sleep can have an impact on a man’s penis health as well. And if that’s the case, a man who has sleep apnea may have concerns about how it might affect his penis.

What is sleep apnea?

Sleep apnea has risen in the public consciousness in recent years due to many articles and stories about it. But those without sleep disturbances may not really know what it is.

Sleep apnea is "a sleep disorder characterized by pauses in breathing or periods of shallow breathing during sleep." The length of time for these pauses can vary from a few seconds to a few minutes, and they occur multiple times during the night; at least five must occur within one hour to receive a diagnosis of sleep apnea. Typically sleep apnea is marked by periods of very loud snoring, and choking or snorting sounds may be common at the end of these pauses in breath.

There are three main types of sleep apnea:

- Obstructive sleep apnea (also called OSA) is the most common form and occurs when the throat muscles relax. If the passageway is narrow - as is often the case with people who are overweight, for example - it can cause a closure which prevents air from getting through.

- Central sleep apnea (or CSA) happens because something is keeping the brain from sending signals to the muscles that control breathing.

- Complex sleep apnea syndrome (or CSAS) is a situation in which a patient has both obstructive sleep apnea and central sleep apnea.

There are many different symptoms associated with sleep apnea, including loud snoring, waking up abruptly, waking with a dry mouth, having a headache in the morning, attention problems, irritability and difficulty staying awake during the day.

The penis health connection

Sleep apnea is obviously a problem, but just how does it affect penis health? There are several ways in which it can have an impact.

- Decreased libido. It’s hard for a guy to feel frisky and be at the top of his sexual game when he’s having a hard time just staying awake. In addition, lack of sleep wreaks havoc with hormone production, causing testosterone levels to lower - and that in turn dampens the sex drive considerably.

- Erectile dysfunction. Sleep apnea also increases the risk that it will be harder to get and/or maintain a hard penis. One study of guys with sleep apnea indicated that 70% of the men involved also experienced erectile dysfunction. Part of the reason is lack of testosterone. But sleep disruption also affects the oxygen levels in the blood, and that makes it more difficult to achieve erectile goals.

- Relationship issues. Loud snoring can lead to partners sleeping in separate bedrooms, which can impact their level of intimacy. Apnea can also make a person more irritable, which can lead to disagreements which again affect intimacy.

If a man thinks he has sleep apnea, he should consult with a doctor and undergo a sleep apnea test. There are several approaches to treating sleep apnea, including lifestyle changes or the use of a CPAP machine. The latter option involves wearing a mask while sleeping. The mask raises air pressure to help keep the throat passage open.

The healthier the penis is, the harder it is for sleep apnea to affect it, so guys should keep an eye on penis health. Using a penis health creme (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin) can help. The best crème should include a range of vitamins, such as A, B5, C, D and E, which offer benefits through topical application directly to the penis. Ideally the crème should also include L-arginine, an amino acid that boosts nitric oxide so penile blood vessels can accept greater blood flow.

Porn and Sexual Function - Could a Guy’s Internet Habits Leave Him Limp?

The Internet has opened up a whole new world of opportunity for men who enjoy a little adult viewing from time to time; but as with anything else, too much of a good thing can lead to unexpected and unwanted consequences. A little porn can be titillating; it can offer a guy an outlet for stress, and it can fill in the gaps when there is no willing partner around. On the other hand, a LOT of porn can cause significant problems, ranging from loss of interest in real, physical partners to overall loss of sexual function. Since no guy wants that to happen, some of the reasons that too much Internet porn can lead to a limp tool are described here, along with some timely tips for penis care that can help revitalize an unresponsive penis.

1. Loss of physical penis sensation - Like the rest of the body, the penis is covered by layers of dermal tissue (the skin) that protect it from the outside world. This tissue is filled with nerve cells that transmit information to the brain and receive signals from the brain; and the penis, of course contains a vast number of sensory cells. Men who watch porn typically engage in manual stimulation as they watch the action unfold. While masturbation is natural and healthy to an extent, overdoing it can cause a loss of penis sensation; in some cases, this is due to the thickening of the skin that occurs as a result of chronic rough handling, and in some cases, this is caused by damage to the nerve cells. In a nutshell, too much whacking can leave the penis stubborn and unresponsive

2. Mental desensitization - Sex in any form is a highly visual activity, and men and women alike rely on a variety of visual cues to become aroused. It is common for men who spend hours a day watching pornographic material to become essentially immune to any more realistic forms of visual stimulation.

3. Empty chambers - Last but not least, men who masturbate frequently (with or without porn) tend to be less responsive to a partner simply because they may have already orgasmed recently and haven’t worked up a new supply.

Help for a Desensitized Penis
Fortunately, there is hope for men who have lost sensation and sexual function as a result of their porn viewing habits. The first step, of course, is to lay off altogether for a period of time. This means no internet porn, no trips to the adult toy store, and no masturbation. Taking a break from this highly specific visual input, as well as the manual stimulation that frequently goes along with it, can allow a guy’s mind to re-focus on other visual and mental imagery, not to mention the touch and/or smell of a potential partner.

Because manual stroking of the penis can eventually lead to loss of sensation -due both to stressed skin and to unresponsive nerve pathways - leaving the tool alone for a week or two can allow the tissues time to heal and to become more responsive to the touch and feel of a partner.

When it comes to re-training the penis to respond to physical stimulation, the right nutrition plays an important role. The skin and nerve tissue need specific vitamins, proteins and hydrating agents to heal and to protect themselves against further damage. Using a penis health formula (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) can be an easy, no-nonsense way to ensure that the penile tissue is getting the nourishment it needs to function at its prime - a quality product can leave the skin healthy, supple and responsive.

Penis Power - Unlocking the Secrets to Male Sexual Function

The male sexual response is a powerful force that, in one way or another, drives almost everything a man does. It also happens automatically, without requiring any deliberate thought or action on the part of the individual - although, of course, a man can work himself into an excited state if he chooses to do so. However, although this response generally happens quite easily, the physiological process of getting an erection is extremely complex, and anywhere along the way, things can go wrong. Because of this, erectile dysfunction can be a tricky problem to solve; but by understanding the process a little better, men can, in essence, boost their penis power, maintain better penis health and reduce the chances of loss of function.

Here’s how the process of arousal works, from start to finish:

1. A man sees, hears, feels, smells, or otherwise senses something that is sexually stimulating - this can be anything from a touch to an image to a memory.

2. This sexual excitement, which originates in the brain, triggers a series of signals in a specific part of the brain.

3. The signals run along the spinal cord, into the pelvic nerves, along the prostate gland, and into the erectile chambers of the penis.

4. The muscles in the penis respond to these signals and relax, dilating the blood vessels and allowing a rush of blood to flow into the erectile chambers.

5. The penile tissues stretch to accommodate the inflow of blood, causing an erection to form. At the same time, a sheath inside the erectile chambers stretches, blocking the exits, so to speak, and preventing the blood from flowing back out of the penis. At this point, the penis is fully erect and ready for sex.

6. When the man reaches orgasm, the signals from the brain change, reducing the amount of blood flowing to the penis. This causes the blood pressure inside the penis to drop, opening the pathways again and allowing the blood to recede; the penis is then able to become flaccid again.

Because there are so many elements involved in this process - from nerve signals to muscle reactions to circulatory function - there are many opportunities for something to go wrong. Any breakdown in the process can lead to impotence, leaving a man high and dry when it comes to sexual function. Poor cardiovascular function, generative nerve diseases, obesity, and even psychological issues like stress, anxiety or even guilt can interfere with a man’s ability to perform - but fortunately, most cases of erectile dysfunction are treatable, either through medications, counseling, or simply eating right and getting plenty of exercise. Men who have problems getting or maintaining a solid erection are urged to seek advice from a qualified medical professional before attempting any type of ED treatment.

In addition, it goes without saying that keeping the penis itself healthy is an important part of this process. A well-groomed, clean and supple penis is better able to perform when the time comes, and having a good-looking tool is likely to give a man an extra boost of confidence, as well.

Washing properly and using protection are essential to keeping the manhood healthy and appealing; and men can take this one step further by adding a high-quality penis health formula (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil) to their personal care arsenal. A cream that is rich in penis-specific nutrients, as well as natural moisturizers, is ideal for keeping the skin, nerves and circulatory tissue in top form, as well as boosting resistance to disease. Slathering on a vitamin cream after a shower can give a man an edge when it comes to overall sexual health.

Sexual Function and Obesity- the Naked Truth about Body Fat and Erectile Health

Recently, a great deal of attention has been given to the obesity epidemic that is taking its toll on the health of most industrialized countries; at the same time, there has been a push by public service agencies to celebrate people of all sizes and shapes and to promote a healthy body image for all. While their efforts are admirable, and it is true that self-worth should not be rooted in physical appearance, the truth is that being overweight just is not good for the body. The negative health effects of obesity are far-reaching, impacting everything from mental well-being to physical stamina, and even to sexual function. Men who are overweight are at risk for erectile health issues, and developing a weight-loss and fitness strategy can be critical to overcoming problems with penis health.

Here are just a few of the ways that men’s sexual function can be affected by being overweight:
  • Circulatory issues - good cardiovascular function is critical to erectile health for a number of reasons. Most obviously, the ability of the heart to pump blood throughout the body has everything to do with the ability of the penis to fill with blood and form an erection; being overweight puts a strain on these systems, meaning it is much more difficult for the penis to become engorged.
  • Diabetes - Type 2 diabetes is a common effect of obesity, and it has multiple effects on many of the systems of the body. Men who are diabetic are at an increased risk for erectile dysfunction, in part due to its degenerative effects on the nerve tissue that serves the penis. In essence, obesity can lead to loss of penis sensation and a corresponding inability to enjoy intimate contact.
  • Stamina - Men who are carrying too much extra weight may find it difficult to stay the course in bed, often running out of steam before they are able to complete the act.
  • Hormones - Abdominal fat works to produce the hormone cortisol, a so-called stress hormone. Elevated levels of this chemical can decrease testosterone, which can in turn decrease a man’s sex drive and ability to respond to sensual stimulation.
Taking steps for better physical and sexual health
Losing weight is difficult, and it takes time and patience - as well as a lot of effort. But the lasting health benefits are enormous. A commitment to losing weight can make a difference in nearly all aspects of a man’s life. Before embarking on a nutritional or exercise program, it is very important to talk to a doctor about any health concerns and about an individual’s weight loss goals. Professional advice can help men to avoid missteps that can derail their weight loss efforts and even cause further health problems.

However, the keys to improving health and quality of life include eating foods that are nutritionally sound - in the right proportions - and engaging in regular physical exercise. Many men will find that losing even a few pounds will help them feel more positive mentally, as well as having more physical energy - both important factors in the ability to function in the bedroom.

As part of this program of transformation, a little self-pampering is also warranted; a man who takes extra steps to care for his body will tend to experience greater self-esteem and lower levels of anxiety. Taking time to rest, relax, and care for the body - including the penis - is a big part of this effort.

After a warm bath or shower, applying a penis health creme (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil) to the penile skin can help to improve the overall appearance and feel of the manhood.
Vitamins and antioxidants in a specially-formulated penis cream are designed to stimulate healthy skin and nerve growth, and they can go a long way toward repairing the cellular damage caused by ongoing health issues. Adding a cream like this to the daily personal care regimen is an excellent way to boost penile health and pave the way to better sexual function.

Penis Care for the Healthy Life - Eating for a Revitalized Manhood

When it comes down to a choice between a cronut and a cucumber, most men would have to admit that they would opt for the former; the instant gratification and feeling of satisfaction more than compensates for the unhealthy aspect, at least in the moment. Unfortunately, choices like this come up all the time, and unless a man has the willpower to steer themselves in the right direction, their health will suffer in the long run. This goes for overall health, of course, but it might come as a surprise to many that sexual health, in particular, can suffer from poor dietary choices. In the following paragraphs, some of the consequences of unhealthy eating, as well as some tips for essential penis care, are discussed.

Poor nutrition and its effects on sexual health
A less-than-healthy diet can affect penis function in a variety of ways. The most significant of these has to do with blood flow, of course, because without an adequate supply of oxygen and nutrients, none of the other important cellular functions can take place. Furthermore, a rush of blood is needed when an erection is called for in order to flood the erectile chambers. If a man has clogged arteries, a sluggish pulse, or acres of fat that impede circulation, there is unlikely to be enough flow to keep the motors running where sexual response is concerned.

Because of this, a diet that is high in saturated fat, not to mention refined sugars, added salt and preservatives, can seriously impede heart function, and by extension, erectile function. In addition, refined carbohydrates - including sugars and starches - can cause disruptions in insulin production, which affects penis health in a couple of ways. First, it can lead to type 2 diabetes, a major factor in loss of nerve function; many individuals with diabetes experience diabetic neuropathy, a degenerative condition characterized by nerve damage and loss of feeling in the hands, feet - and penis. Second, the spikes and falls in blood sugar levels can leave men feeling sluggish, irritable, and not at all in the mood for sex.

Good nutrition and lifestyle habits
Men who are accustomed to eating foods that are fat, calorie and salt-laden may have a hard time imagining actually reaching for a piece of swordfish rather than a pizza, or a veggie omelet instead of a pile of sausages and bacon. But by taking it slow and learning to make healthy choices, substituting better nutritional options whenever possible, men may find themselves not only automatically choosing the foods that are better for them, but also enjoying them more.

Three essential elements of a healthy diet consist of:

  • Lean meats and proteins, such as chicken breast meat, turkey, fish, and legumes;
  • Fiber, which helps to reduce plaque buildup in the arteries; it also helps to create a feeling of fullness and satisfaction without the bulk and heart-clogging properties of a triple cheeseburger.
  • Fruits and vegetables contain vitamins, anti-oxidants and other nutrients that help to fight cancer, optimize cell function, and stave off disease.

  • Adding these to the diet as much as possible can even leave the penis looking and feeling better, not to mention firing on all cylinders.

    Penis care essentials
    Good nutrition is as important for the penis as it is for the rest of the body. Unfortunately, when it comes to getting nutrients to the extremities, the penis is often the redheaded stepchild, so to speak. As nutrients from the diet are digested and absorbed into the bloodstream, they are often grabbed up by other organ systems before they can reach the penis.

    In order to compensate for this issue, men can pay extra attention to getting the dietary elements that are needed for good sexual health, as well as keeping the cardiovascular system in top condition for maximum distribution. In addition, including a high-quality penis health creme (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) as part of the daily personal care routine can help to ensure that important vitamins, antioxidants, amino acids and moisturizers are delivered directly where they are needed for better penis health.

    Overcoming Loss of Penis Feeling - Rules for Better Sexual Function

    The penis is perhaps the most sensitive part of a man’s body. The outer layers of skin cover a fine network of sensory tissue which sends signals of pleasure (and occasionally pain) to the brain, letting the body know that it is time for a sexual response. For the most part, men take the sensitivity down there for granted; it has always been responsive, so why wouldn’t it continue to feel good, barring any dramatic accidents?

    The truth is that the package is subject to quite a bit of rough handling, and over time, this can lead to a loss of penis feeling that can detract from sexual performance and enjoyment. It doesn’t take a major injury to dull the sensation in this delicate tissue. Some of the ways that penis feeling can be diminished are described here, along with some penis care tips that can help prevent loss of sensation, and in some cases even restore it.

    • Keratinized dermal tissue. Like the skin on the rest of the body, constant friction against the penis can cause a layer of tougher skin cells to form. This process, known as keratinization, is the body’s natural response - it is a way for the skin to protect itself against further damage. Unfortunately, this tougher layer of skin can make it harder for the nerve tissue underneath to detect tactile stimulation, such as the touch of a hand. As a result, men have to work even harder to feel pleasure, which in turn leads to further damage. To prevent this from occurring, it is a good idea to use a lube for manual stimulation, not to mention fun with a partner, and to experiment with soft touch, rather than gripping the package as tightly as possible. Wearing soft, non-restrictive clothing can also help, as well as using a high-quality moisturizer.

    • Nerve damage. Some loss of penis feeling can also occur as a result of peripheral nerve damage related to constant friction or to blunt force injury, such as banging into a partner’s pelvic bone. Another, more serious cause of nerve damage that can dull penis sensation is a common side effect of diabetes. Men with diabetes frequently experience diabetic neuropathy, where nerve tissue throughout the body deteriorates due to high levels of blood sugar. The penis, as well as the hands and feet, are among the first parts of the body to be affected. Following a doctor’s instructions for controlling blood sugar, as well as eating right and losing weight, are essential for preventing loss of penis sensation and reduced sexual health related to diabetic neuropathy.

    • Circulatory problems. Men who have circulatory issues related to cardiovascular health, and especially to smoking, often have limited circulation to the penis. As a result, the area becomes starved of blood, causing a deterioration of nerve tissue and subsequent loss of feeling. In addition, without adequate blood flow, it may be difficult to achieve and maintain an erection. To avoid this outcome, men should get plenty of cardio exercise. Quitting smoking can have a significant effect on circulatory health, as well; and wearing non-binding clothing and staying active can ensure better blood flow to the pelvic area.

    Topical solutions for preserving and rejuvenating penile skin and nerve tissue

    In addition to using a more gentle approach to handling the penis, men can take proactive steps toward preserving the penile tissue. Men who have experienced a loss of sensation due to rough handling may even be able to restore some or all of their penis feeling by adding a penis health formula (most health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil) to their daily personal care routine. A penis cream that is enriched with healing vitamins and proteins, as well as natural emollients for softer skin, can go a long way toward repairing peripheral damage to the sensory tissue in the penis, as well as keeping the skin hydrated, supple and responsive to the touch.

    Nutrition and Sexual Function - Amazing Penis Benefits of Alpha Lipoic Acid

    There are no two ways around it; the key to healthy sexual function is a healthy penis. A man can’t have one without the other. Alpha lipoic acid is a powerful ingredient most men have probably never even heard of. Yet it is an important addition to any man’s daily penis health routine. Learn more about this potent, little-known ingredient and the penis health boosting properties it boasts.

    Alpha Lipoic Acid: What is it?

    Alpha lipoic acid is a fatty acid that naturally occurs in the cells of the body; it is essential to one’s daily functioning. The body needs alpha lipoic acid to change glucose in the bloodstream into the energy one needs to get up and go. It also has antioxidant properties, meaning it helps fight cancer-causing agents - or free radicals - in the body. So even though alpha lipoic acid is not yet a part of most people’s understanding of how the human body works, it is a much needed and important component of a healthy system.

    Penis Health Properties

    Alpha lipoic aciddoes also carry with it several below-the-belt benefits that all males can enjoy:
    1. On a strictly superficial level, it makes the penis look prettier by fighting against wrinkle-causing free radicals -- which can cause premature aging of the penis and damage to the skin cells of the manhood. More importantly, warding off free radicals also helps fight the cells, which could lead to cancer in the area, making it a potent antioxidant. Not only does alpha lipoic acid help an aging penis look better, it also helps an aging penis function better and stay younger.
    1. As the penis ages, like all other areas of the body, it loses elasticity and becomes more vulnerable to injury. An unfortunate condition known as Peyronie’s disease - which tends to be more common in an older man - occurs when scar tissue and plaques begin to form on the penis. This scar tissue causes an actual shortening of the penis and can even cause the member to curve in one direction or another, which may become painful over time and can make sex difficult or impossible in extreme situations. An accidental trauma to the penis - which occurs during sex more commonly than one may think - can be enough of an injury to cause a permanent bend in an aging penis. Alpha lipoic acid may help prevent the plaque build up that comes with aging and keep the penis tissue supple and free of painful curvatures.
    1. Lastly, and this may be the most happy benefit of all, alpha lipoic acid may actually increase sexual stamina in some men. Remember how alpha lipoic acid turns glucose into energy? That burst of energy can be spent however one chooses, and an extended between-the-sheets tryst may be the perfect outlet for all that extra energy.
    Where to get Alpha Lipoic Acid

    There are certain foods that provide a dose of alpha lipoic acid, including veggies like spinach, Brussels sprouts, broccoli and peas, organ meat, rice bran and Brewer’s yeast. Some individuals - especially those who are not fond of organ meats and green veggies - may elect to intake their alpha lipoic acid via a supplement in capsule form. Another no-muss no-fuss way to stock up on alpha lipoic acid is through the use of a penis vitamin creme that is specially formulated to contain just the right amount of alpha lipoic acid, along with other penis specific vitamins and nutrients (most professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil). One major advantage of using a penis vitamin creme is that it is applied directly to the skin for fast, easy absorption, directly where it is most wanted, on the penis.

    Sexual Function Solutions—Fight Penis Problems with L-Arginine

    Most men are willing to try just about anything to fix – or better yet, prevent – erectile dysfunction issues. Some men even go to dangerous lengths, ingesting all sorts of performance enhancing supplements – even mixing and matching non-prescription and prescription drugs – with the hope that they will find the perfect penis cocktail.  Thankfully, there are healthy and natural ways to maintain penis health and boost sexual function.

    L-Arginine for Penis Health

    One natural ingredient, which is highly touted for its penis-friendly properties, is L-Arginine. L-Arginine is a powerful amino acid – a building block that the body uses to make protein. It is readily available in many foods found in the typical diet including: red meat, poultry, fish, and dairy products.  Vegetarians and vegans can also reap the benefits of this essential nutrient by stocking up on soy, kidney beans and green beans.

    Erectile dysfunction occurs when circulation or blood flow to the area is reduced, preventing the penis from becoming engorged with blood and causing a decrease in a man’s level of sexual function.  L-Arginine helps dilate the blood vessels, which may improve blood flow to the penis and allow for a healthy erection.  While erectile dysfunction may be more prevalent in older men, it can affect men of all ages, particularly those experiencing medical side effects or complications.

    In some cases, a sluggish penis may be the symptom of a more serious condition, such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, neurological issues, hormonal problems, or even drug interactions and side effects. For men struggling with erectile dysfunction, it is wise to seek a medical evaluation from a physician to help diagnose, or rule out, a condition which may require medical treatment.

    Natural Ways to Maintain Penis Health

    There are several simple changes a man can make to his daily routine to ensure he is keeping his penis as healthy as possible.

    • Exercise: Perhaps the easiest change a man can make is to get a little daily exercise.  That doesn’t mean pumping iron three hours a day – who really has time for that? A simple 30-minute walk around the block keeps the heart healthy and circulation pumping, which is essential to maintaining penis care.

    • Eat right: Sure, everybody splurges from time to time, and that is okay. However, hitting the fast food joint every day and only eating a vegetable when it is deep fried is no good for ones overall health – or for their penis! Eating a balanced diet – full of those green veggies – keeps cholesterol in check and provides the body with the vitamins it needs to stay healthy. Cholesterol can block arteries, thereby reducing blood flow to the most important of body parts.

    • Stop Smoking: In this day and age, the potential health hazards of smoking are no secret. That being said, many men do not think of the consequences of cigarettes in terms of their sex life. Smoking constricts the blood vessels all over the body, and the penis is filled with a system of very small blood vessels. If those tiny blood vessels are not getting the blood and oxygen needed, unfortunate sexual side effects are likely to follow.

    • Moisturize: Keeping the skin moisturized and supple goes a long way in keeping the penis healthy and youthful.  Using a high-quality penis vitamin creme (most professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil) especially one containing L-Arginine and other essential vitamins and nutrients, can keep the skin smooth and youthful while at the same time helping to increase blood flow to the area. Applying the cream directly to the penile skin allows for fast absorption and maximum effectiveness of the nutrients.

    Erectile Dysfunction under 40 – Overcoming Sex Problems in Younger Men

    Erectile dysfunction is generally considered an age-related problem; the common perception is that younger men are primed and ready for action at all times. However, while most men would like to brag about a constant state of readiness, the truth is that daily life often gets in the way, and even the most virile of young men can experience the occasional flop when it comes to bedroom performance.

    In most cases, this is nothing to be concerned about - the stress of a long day or a bit too much to drink can cause a temporary dereliction of duty where sexual function is concerned. However, young men who experience frequent problems in this department may need to consider talking to their doctors about penis care for erectile dysfunction.

    What causes ED in young men?

    In older men, loss of function may occur as testosterone levels decrease, the circulation becomes compromised by heart disease or smoking, or a band of midlife fat settles in around the waistline. Men in their 50s and 60s typically encounter at least the occasional problem with sexual function.

    In young men, these issues are less common; however, medical conditions such as congenital heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, or reduced testosterone levels can also lead to loss of function. In addition, men of any age who are overweight, consume a poor diet, and/or have a sedentary lifestyle are more likely to have problems rising to the occasion. Furthermore, men who have problems with substance abuse or alcohol may develop erectile issues at any age. Various medications may also have an adverse effect on erectile ability.
    Beyond the more obvious physical health concerns, psychology often comes into play in matters of sexual function. Men who are under a great deal of stress, or those who have problems with depression or anxiety, may also have difficulties in the bedroom. Performance anxiety, partner conflict, and guilt associated with a strict upbringing can also lead to problems in this area.

    Treating ED

    Successful treatment of erectile issues depends on the underlying cause. Treating conditions like heart disease or diabetes is certainly necessary; and men who are overweight and unhealthy will need to take a look at their lifestyle and make some positive changes. Avoiding recreational substances, quitting smoking and limiting one’s intake of alcohol can also have a beneficial effect.

    When it comes to the psychology of erections, treatment can get more tricky, as worrying about the issue can create a cyclical problem. However, avoiding excessive stress and getting help for conditions like anxiety and depression can be enormously helpful.

    Making positive lifestyle changes like exercising, losing weight, and paying attention to one’s appearance and grooming can be helpful in boosting confidence levels, which play a big part in a man’s ability to function well.

    Caring for the equipment

    Even when there is nothing physically wrong with the penis, taking extra care can help men to look and feel their best, giving their confidence (and their package) a lift. Men who feel good about the condition of their penis are less likely to feel anxious and self-conscious - problems which can often lead to performance issues.

    It goes without saying that the penis should be kept clean. Washing with warm water and a mild cleanser is the first step. The penis should be allowed to dry thoroughly - especially under the foreskin, for uncircumcised men - to decrease the chances of developing a bacterial or fungal infection that can wreak havoc on the penile skin.

    After cleansing, applying a high-quality penis vitamin cream (most health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil) can benefit the penis by moisturizing the skin; smoothing dry, roughened skin; boosting resistance to infections; and decreasing unpleasant odors. A cream containing penis-specific ingredients should be applied right after cleansing, while the skin is most absorbent. Adding this step to the daily personal care routine can help keep the penis smooth, resilient, and responsive to the touch.

    Male Erectile Health –Self-Exams Men Can’t Afford to Neglect

    As most men know, regular physical exams are important to staying healthy, identifying potential health risks, and minimizing the chances of developing a serious or chronic illness. What many don’t realize is that penis health and sexual function are an important aspect of a man’s overall health, and neglecting proper care or ignoring problems can lead to issues with reproductive function, loss of sensation, and reduced sexual function. These problems not only affect a man’s sex life; they are often early warning signs of more serious health issues.

    Performing these penis self-checks on a regular basis allows men to be aware of subtle changes and abnormalities that may indicate that something is wrong.

    1. Low Testosterone Evaluation
    Testosterone levels often decrease as men age, leading to a condition that is sometimes known as “male menopause,” which includes symptoms such as the following:

    ·         Reduced sex drive;
    ·         Reduced sexual function;
    ·         Lower levels of assertiveness;
    ·         High cholesterol;
    ·         Recent weight gain, especially in the abdominal area;
    ·         Difficulty making decisions;
    ·         Reduced self-confidence;
    ·         Decreased stamina;
    ·         Loss of muscle mass and/or tone.

    Men who note several of these symptoms may consider scheduling a check to have their testosterone levels tested; various treatments are available to help men cope with this issue.

    2. Test for Testicular cancer
    Testicular cancer often targets men between the ages of 20 and 35. Although it is rare, all men should be aware of the symptoms and look out for them. A self-check every month or so can help to detect early warning signs of cancer. A visual exam of the scrotum can reveal signs of shrinking that might indicate a problem. To check for lumps or bumps that could indicate a tumor, men should stand with their legs slightly apart and gently roll each testicle between the thumb and fingers, making note of any changes or unusual growths. Other symptoms worth noting include pelvic pain, an aching pain in the lower abdomen, and/or a feeling of heaviness in the scrotum.

    3. Test for Healthy Penile Skin
    The skin of the penis can give men many clues to the overall health of the male anatomy. A close visual check, using the help of a mirror, can help men to detect sores, blemishes, warts or ulcers on the penis, scrotum or inner thighs. These may be caused by various health issues, from partner-transmitted diseases to skin irritation, from fungal infections to cancer. It's also important to inspect the entire shaft of the penis by gently pressing along it to spot any lumps or bumps under the skin.

    4. Penis Sensation Test
    Men who experience loss of penis sensitivity may have minor skin damage caused by aggressive sex, or they may have some peripheral nerve damage related to vigorous manual stroking.  Conducting the following penis test can help to detect areas that have lost sensitivity:

    Standing with a firm penis, run a feather or ice cube along the full length (or have a partner do this), making note of any areas that do not register the touch or sense of cold. In some cases, lost sensation can be restored by trying new positions, allowing irritated skin to heal, and wearing loose-fitting, non-restrictive clothing.

    Maintaining Penis Health
    While early detection is essential in the successful treatment of various penis problems, preventing these from occurring in the first place is the best solution. Getting plenty of sleep, reducing the amount of stress in one’s life, and maintaining a healthy body weight can go a long way toward reducing the chances of developing erectile health issues.

    A specially formulated penis nutrient cream (most health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil) may also provide the nutrients that are needed to support healthy nerve and circulatory function, as well as maintaining smooth, supple and responsive penis skin.
