Getting Breakouts on Your Penis? Here’s How to Get Rid of Them

Feel like your junk is going through puberty again, but not in a good way? Finding breakouts on your penis is not something most men enjoy dealing with, but they are extremely common. Those irritating little red bumps can really cause some panic and be very uncomfortable. Not to mention the fact that they can take a man out of the game until they clear up. Let’s talk about penis pimples and how to get rid of them.

What does a breakout on the penis look like?

Penis pimples look like the regular acne a man gets on his face. They are red dots or bumps on the skin that are usually slightly raised and range from painful to excruciating. Breakouts on the penis may also feel very tender to the touch, contain pus, or feel like a hard bump.

What causes breakouts on the penis?

Again, it’s the same stuff that causes acne on a man’s face or back (or anywhere else, for that matter). A penis pimple materializes when a pore gets congested. It’s important to note that acne comes in a few forms. A blackhead or whitehead encompasses a combination of oil and dead skin cells. A mixture of bacteria, oil, and dead skin cells can result in a pimple with or without a head. It’s the bacteria in these penis pimples that can make them last long and hurt a ton.

Breakouts on the penis will occur more if a man:

- Has oily skin

- Lives in a steamy climate

- Shaves his pubic hair

- Wears tight pants and underwear

- Doesn’t shower often enough or thoroughly enough

Irritations that look like breakouts on the penis, but aren’t

Every red bump a man sees on his meat is not always a pimple. There are numerous possibilities that a man may have something that looks like a pimple but could be one of the following:

- Folliculitis - This is a hair follicle irritation near the pubic hair, which manifests as red bumps that can be painful and itchy.

- Razor Burn - Newly shaved skin that gets inflamed and angry looking can also mimic acne. What begins as redness and irritation can progress into ingrown hairs and pus-filled bumps that can be especially tender and agonizing to the touch.

- Molluscum Contagiosum - This is an extremely contagious viral infection that looks like a collection of raised bumps with red halo-like rings around them.

It’s never a mistake to call the doc or head to a MedCheck if a man can’t tell what it is. There’s no price tag that can be put on peace of mind.

Treating breakouts on the penis

How does a man reverse penis pimples? It’s simple - ignore them. Just keep the area clean and dry (as it should usually be) and try to avoid contact with them. Once the skin rebalances, they’ll go away.

Men should never use acne treatments, OTC or prescription, on breakouts on the penis. Genital skin is fragile and delicate, and the acids that are commonly present in these products could make the penis pimples worse and result in a rash.

If a guy finds that he is always breaking out down there, he should talk to his doctor about his options. A doctor may prescribe an oral medication or retinol for the area if the problem is chronic.

Prevent penis pimples

Breakouts on the penis are just a fact of life. However, that doesn’t mean a man shouldn’t try to keep breakouts to a minimum. A few small tweaks can go a long way to keep the penis pimples at bay. Always use new razors when shaving the pubic hair and wash daily with a mild cleanser, rinsing thoroughly, and air drying whenever possible.

Men looking for a little extra something to treat their skin should apply a specially formulated penis health oil (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which has been clinically proven safe and mild for skin) daily on and around the penis. Use an oil that contains natural moisturizers like shea butter and vitamin E, which are ideal for moisturizing even the most sensitive skin. Oils that also include vitamin A are a win as well; that vitamin helps keep bacteria away. Use once or twice daily to minimize breakouts on the penis.

Penis Pimples: What Every Guy Needs to Know

When a man looks down and sees penis pimples, he might be more than a little concerned. That’s especially true if the pimples are accompanied by a sore, red penis that might indicate something more than a benign condition. What’s a man to do when he’s facing such a conundrum? Should he simply step up his penis care, or should he go to the doctor to figure out what’s really going on? And if he does choose to ramp up his penis care, is it okay to pop the pimples in an attempt to make them go away faster? Here’s what a man needs to know.

Most penis pimples are benign

Fortunately, a man who looks down to see penis pimples is probably seeing run-of-the-mill acne, the same type that he might develop on his face or back. As he probably already knows, the acne will resolve on its own. Acne like this usually shows up as small white bumps surrounded by a little red coloration, just as he might see on his face. They will often appear near the base of the penis.

Some men might notice penis pimples that appear in a line, almost like a tiny string of pearls right underneath the penis skin. These often appear around the glans. Though they can look rather off-putting for some men, they are nothing to worry about. These "pimples" are actually pearly penile papules, an entirely benign condition that afflict many men at some point in their lives. Since they don’t cause any problems, most doctors don’t recommend doing anything to remove them.

However, it’s important to recognize that sometimes, acne and papules can mimic the look of sexually transmitted diseases. Herpes is one sexually transmitted disease that can mimic the look of penis pimples at first. Therefore, if a man is encountering penis pimples or papules for the first time, it’s a good idea to visit the doctor and get a second opinion on what those really are.

How to handle penis pimples

Many men will be very tempted to simple squeeze penis pimples to get rid of them, but this is actually the last thing he should do. Squeezing or otherwise disturbing penis pimples can push any small infection deeper into the skin, which can result in a broader infection and a painful, red penis.

Rather than popping the pimples, a man should step up his penis care regimen. He should carefully wash the area, taking care to get the areas with the pimples very clean. Then the application of a physician-approved medication that contains salicylic acid is a great idea. This will help reduce the appearance of the pimples and allow them to heal faster. However, because penis skin is so delicate, a guy should never opt to use an over the counter medication for acne until it is approved for use by his physician.

It’s important to note that if the penis pimples are accompanied by an excessively red penis, itching, pain, discharge or other problems, a guy should seek a physician’s attention immediately.

The use of over the counter medication (or prescription, depending upon the situation) can leave the penis skin dry and red. To help relieve that problem, a man can reach for a specially formulated penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin). Applied on a daily basis to the penis head and shaft, a good crème will contain Shea butter and vitamin E, the better to hydrate the penis skin and ensure it stays supple and smooth. In addition, a guy can look to a wealth of vitamins with antibacterial properties, such as vitamin A, and alpha lipoic acid, which is known for fighting against the free radicals that can make penis skin look old, tired and dull.

What Can a Man Do about Penis Pimples?

Pimples. Isn’t that something only teenagers get? And doesn’t it happen just on the face? Unfortunately, many men get a surprise, no matter their age, when they look down and see what looks exactly like acne on their penis. Penis pimples are actually quite common, even with good regular penis care. However, a guy can rest assured that as penis problems go, penis pimples should be rather easy to handle.

Wait - Acne doesn’t happen to full-grown men, right?

There can be many reasons for pimples, even penis pimples, to show up from time to time. The skin is made up of dermal tissue that includes pores. Those pores contain glands that release oily, fatty substances. This is usually a great thing, as it helps keep skin smooth and hydrated. But sometimes those secretions can become blocked, which allows acne to form.

When it comes to age, pimples don’t care how old a man might be. Problems with the skin glands can be caused by hormones, changes in humidity and weather, rough or abrasive cleaning, not cleaning enough, and a whole host of other problems. In most cases, a man who has acne on his penis won’t know exactly what caused it.

Just popping them will be enough, right?

Well, popping them is actually too much! Popping pimples is always a bad idea, no matter where on the skin they might be - but especially when they are on the delicate penis skin. When a man tries to pop one of these pimples, it either forces the tiny infection deeper into the skin, where it has more opportunity to fester and grow, or it splits open the skin, which then leads to an open area where bacteria can easily invade. Neither bodes well for getting rid of penis pimples and can actually lead to more penis problems.

Getting rid of penis pimples

Though there is no way to ensure penis pimples will never show up, there are several good ways to make sure they will show up less often. Here are a few must-follow rules for men who deal with penis acne:

1) Use a gentle cleanser. A gentle, soap-free cleanser can help ensure that the penis skin is in great shape and less likely to suffer from blocked skin glands. Always clean carefully, especially where penis pimples might be.

2) Watch the diet. Many have found that refined sugars can lead to acne problems on the body, including the penis. This might be cutting back on breads, pastas and sugary foods for a while to see if it helps clear up a particularly bad case of acne.

3) Wear breathable underwear. A clean pair of soft cotton underwear each day can help ensure a very clean, breathable area for the penis. This helps avoid not only penis pimples, but other penis problems that might result from too much compression or irritation from rough fabrics.

4) Don’t use acne creams. Though it might be tempting to use over the counter acne creams on the penis, there are a few reasons this is not a good idea. First, they are designed for acne on thicker skin areas of the body - this means that the cream could easily burn or irritate the penis skin. In addition, they are designed to dry out the skin and remove the oil, which can spell disaster for penis skin, as it is more likely to dry or crack.

5) Visit the doctor. If penis pimples just won’t quit, visit the doctor to figure out what to do about them. It’s possible the doctor could provide medications or creams that are specifically designed for alleviating acne on the penis and other delicate areas.

There is also no harm in using a specially formulated penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin) . Look for a crème that contains Shea butter and vitamin E, both of which provide great hydration relief to the dry and irritated penis. Other vitamins, such as C, B5 and D, keep the penis skin in good shape.

What are Penis Pimples?

Many men believe they left acne behind with their teenage years, and for many, that’s the case. So it makes sense that a man has a feeling of disbelief and dismay when he looks down at his favorite equipment and sees a pimple looking back at him. The truth is that even with the best penis care, a man might occasionally have penis pimples. This unsightly event can be enough to make a man feel as though he’s back in high school again - and not in a good way.

What causes penis pimples?

The cause of penis pimples is exactly the same as that of pimples on the face - it’s a buildup of oil or skin that prevents the body’s normal secretions. When the body can’t function as it should, it sends alarm signals to the immune system, which then sends out its own little invaders to deal with the problem. The result is an area that looks red and angry, raised penis bumps that are filled with fluids, usually pus.

On a broader scale, there are a few things that might tip a man off to the possibility of penis pimples. Men who have very oily skin might experience more pimples than a man with drier skin. A man who sweats a great deal might also experience more pimples. Other possible reasons might include ingrown hairs, irritation from shaving, and occasionally, the use of a condom that is too tight.

Getting rid of penis pimples

The good news is that penis pimples are almost always hidden behind clothing, so they aren’t on display like those facial blemishes were back in high school. The bad news is that the penis pimples can look a lot like an STD, and that can make partners think twice about engaging in any sensual fun with a guy who has them.

Besides that, penis pimples can be annoying, irritating and even painful. Here’s how to get rid of them safely.

1. Maintain excellent hygiene. Though washing the penis every day with mild soap and water is recommended, it’s good to step up the game when penis bumps come into the picture. Cleanse the penis at least twice a day, especially after a sweaty workout or after getting home from work.

2. Shave smart. If a man is getting pimples where he shaves, he should change up his technique. Always use a very sharp razor, and stand under the hot water of the shower for a while before shaving in order to open up the pores and make the process easier.

3. Don’t squeeze. It might be very tempting to puncture or squeeze penis pimples in order to get immediate relief; however, this can actually drive the infection deeper into the skin, lead to spreading of the problem and even invite new bacteria to enter the opening, thus creating a much bigger issue.

4. Soak the skin. Keeping the skin moist and warm can help dissipate the infection and lead to a healthier penis. A man can do this by wrapping a warm towel around his member and holding it there for several minutes, soaking in a warm bath for a bit, or simply rinsing the area with very warm water each time he goes to the bathroom.

When penis pimples are severe

A man dealing with penis pimples might also want to make an appointment with his dermatologist if the problem doesn’t go away within a few weeks. The dermatologist can prescribe excellent creams that will help the acne vanish for good.

In the meantime, a man can help things along with a high-quality penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin) . Look for a crème that contains vitamin B5 for healthy tissue, vitamin A for antibacterial properties, vitamin D for healthy cellular function and alpha-lipoic acid, which helps prevent the signs of aging. All this in a high-powered Shea butter and vitamin E base means a penis that stays smooth, soft and bump-free.

Penis Pimples: One Man Talks about What to Do and What to Avoid

A pimple on the penis works just like a pimple on the face: It starts with swelling, progresses to pain and ends with an explosion of puss. Zits are really gross, and they can hurt a lot, too. While there's little that men can do to make penis pimples go away quicker, there are all sorts of things they can do that make these bumps worse. Sometimes, the steps men take can be so bad that they result in the need for intensive penis care.

That's what happened to Pete. He agreed to share his story, in the hopes that he can keep others from making the mistakes he did.

Picking Is Bad
"As soon as I saw this pimple pop up on my penis, I knew I was in trouble," Pete says. "I've always been really bad about picking at spots on my body. I just can't help myself. I know I should leave these things alone, but as soon as I know they're there, I can't help but poke and pick. It's what I do."

"So I started squeezing and squeezing this thing, hoping I could get the puss to come out," he says. "It hurt like hell, but for some reason, I thought I could make all the junk come out if I pushed hard enough."

"When that didn't work, I pulled out a needle," Pete says. "It sounds really stupid, I know, but I thought I could just poke a hole in there and make room for the puss to come out. I was sure that doing that would be the answer to my problem."

"The trouble is that I couldn't really see where I was poking and what I was doing. So I ended up poking a whole bunch of holes near the pimple without getting at the pocket of stuff," Pete says. "By this time, my whole dick was hot and bleeding and really sore. And I felt really stupid."

Things Get Worse
"I promised myself I wouldn't touch the pimple again, and I packed everything up and went to bed," Pete says. "But when I dropped trou in the morning to take a shower, I saw that I had made everything worse. I looked like a leper or something."

Turns out, Pete had driven the infection that caused the pimple further into his skin, and the holes he made with the needle were beginning to harbor an infection.

"Basically, I made things a hundred times worse with my poking and pushing around," Pete says. "I ended up going to the emergency clinic, and I spent days on antibiotics. I also had to sit through a pretty embarrassing lecture about pimples. I wouldn't recommend it."

Better Options
There's no reason for men to follow in Pete's footsteps. Men who do get penis pimples can get relief by:

  • Using a warm compress, to bring the puss to the surface
  • Wearing loose clothing, so the spots don't chafe
  • Avoiding sex and masturbation, to reduce the chance of friction injury
  • Drinking extra water, to help the body heal itself

Men prone to penis pimples can pay attention to overall skin health, too, and that might help them to avoid future problems. A penis health cream (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) can help. These products contain the vitamins and emollients penile cells crave, and a daily application could keep oil cells on the surface of the skin from overreacting. Without a lot of oil on top of the skin, pimples are less likely to appear. And with vitamins, the skin has the tools it needs to heal. When it comes to penis pimple prevention, this is a worthwhile tool to have on hand.

Penis Pimples – One Man Shares his Advice

Stop a guy on the street and ask about his penis, and the police are likely to get involved. But ask any adult about pimples, and most can tell a story involving a big day, a red blotch and a lot of embarrassment. Pimples are just part of growing up, and they happen to almost everyone. Most people aren't shy about discussing them. Pimples on the penis, however, are an entirely different matter. First off, they're not something people feel comfortable talking about. And secondly, it's hard to know how common they are, because most men keep things under wraps. So when a man, who will be referred to as Duane, agreed to discuss penis pimples and the penis care tips he used to fix the problem, this seemed like a blessing. Here's what Duane had to say.

A Grave Mistake
"I had a lot of acne when I was a young guy, so when I got a few penis bumps that looked suspicious, I figured I knew just how to handle them," Duane says. "I held a warm washcloth over the spots, and then poked them with a needle I'd dipped in alcohol. I figured that would get the puss out without injecting anything nasty."

While this approach certainly seems reasonable, it caused some big problems for Duane, and he found that out at the doctor's office.

"As soon as I poked that needle in, I knew I'd done something really stupid and wrong," Duane says. "There was a whole lot of blood everywhere, and it hurt like crazy. So I went to the doctor to make sure that I hadn't done any long-term damage. Thankfully, I hadn't done anything so bad that I'd be scarred up or something, but they did tell me that I shouldn't poke around down there anymore. I could have ended up needing stitches or something!"

Better Options
Instead of trying to poke, squeeze or otherwise manipulate his penis pimples until the puss drained away, Duane was given some more reasonable tips that could help him ease the pain.
"My doctor reminded me that pimples like this usually go away on their own, even if I didn't touch them or do anything at all to them," Duane says. "Rather than trying to poke these things, they told me to find ways to make them less painful. My immune system would do its work, and the puss would be reabsorbed in time."

Duane used frozen vegetables wrapped up in towels to soothe his skin, and he took over-the-counter pain medications to help reduce the discomfort. Within a few days, the pimples felt less swollen and, in time, they did fade away, leaving no scars behind.

Focusing on Prevention
While Duane was able to get rid of his penis pimples using time and patience, he really didn't want to deal with the problem ever again.

"Once was more than enough for me," Duane says. "Those little penis bumps were just awful, and I didn't want to either see them or feel them ever again."

Duane says he followed a few basic prevention steps, including:

- Drinking more water. "I never drank much water before, so I started bringing a bottle of water with me everywhere I went. It did help," he says.

- Avoiding trigger foods. "Chocolate and dairy seemed to make me break out when I was a teenager, so I started avoiding those foods as an adult, too," he says.

- Keeping things clean. "A daily shower was optional for me before," Duane says. "It's not now."
A penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) can also be quite helpful for people like Duane. These products provide skin with the vitamins and minerals it needs in order to fend off infections, and they keep skin smooth, so it's less likely to harbor bacteria. Such a cream could be useful as part of a penis pimple prevention plan.

Penis Pimples - A Man's Guide to Care and Prevention

Penis pimples: tiny little annoyances on an otherwise healthy penis that can cause considerable consternation. Even men who regularly practice proper penis health care can develop a pimple on their tool; when they do, it causes several reactions:

- Embarrassment. Men take pride in their equipment, and with good reason. A healthy, powerful tool is an impressive thing, and men like it to be shown off to its best advantage. The last thing they want when unveiling their sexual arsenal is for a woman’s loving gaze to fall upon an unattractive blemish.

- Worry and anxiety. Although the majority of penis pimples are likely to be simple dermatological reactions (which is the focus of this article), there’s always the possibility that they could be a sign of something else, such as genital warts, herpes or another STI. If it is not clearly a simple skin issue, then a man may become fretful or even panicky, especially if he has indulged in unprotected sex.

- Frustration. Even when the pimple is simply acne-related, a man can get frustrated if it takes the pimple a long time to go away - especially if that one pimple invites a few of his brothers to join him.

Treating and preventing the pimple.
Treating penis pimples that are simple dermatological issues is fairly simple; however, a man must determine whether he thinks the pimple needs the benefit of a doctor’s visit. If he is at all uncertain as to whether it is simply a skin reaction and has concerns about whether it may be a sign of an STI or other condition, he should definitely consult with a doctor in order to find out.

Below are simple rules for treating the pimple; most of these also help to prevent pimples from occurring in the first place.

1. Proper hygiene is absolutely essential for treating the pimple on the penis. The area should be washed thoroughly every day. If a man engages in activity that leaves him sweaty, he should also wash the area again immediately after finishing that activity.

2. When washing, a gentle cleanser should be used. One with harsh chemicals or abrasive ingredients will only exacerbate the problem.

3. When drying the pimple-infected area, pat it dry with a soft towel. Rubbing it dry may irritate it further, as may using a rough towel.

4. Choose soft underwear that does not fit too tightly; boxers are usually better than briefs. Softness will avoid irritating the pimple; usually 100% cotton is the best choice. Similarly, if the underwear clings too tightly, it may rub against the pimple and keep it from healing properly.

5. Air it out. The penis tends to be trapped beneath two layers of clothing, which causes it to get overheated. The presence of pubic hair further warms it, as does frequent rushes of blood to the organ during erect states. All of this makes sweat inevitable. It’s good to air a pimpled penis out for a while during the day; if a man lives in a situation that makes this possible, walking around unclothed for an hour or two a day can help.

6. Use a cream to replenish lost nutrients. All of the heat and sweating causes a penis to lose many of the vitamins and nutrients it needs; ironically, when this happens, the skin can become very dry and brittle, despite the presence of sweat. Daily applying a first class penis health cream (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil) is absolutely essential. If the skin is not refreshed and restored with a vitamin- and nutrient-based cream, the conditions for penis pimples will reassert itself over and over. Maintaining the proper balance of ingredients is difficult, so a cream that includes a wide range of vitamins (definitely including A, B5 and E), moisturizing emollients (such as shea butter) and nutrients such as alpha lipoic acid, a superior antioxidant that prevents premature penis skin cell aging is absolutely essential.

Penis Pimples or MC Infection - How to Tell the Difference

To some extent, having an itchy penis is part and parcel of being a man. It's going to itch occasionally, but sometimes, there are specific reasons for that scratchy, uncomfortable feeling. If a man inspects his tool and discovers that it has some small, raised papules or bumps, these could be nothing more than penis pimples; but they could also signal a fairly common infection. Identifying whether these red spots are a sign of this infection, known as molluscum contagiosum (MC), enables a man to better tend to appropriate penis health treatment.

What is molluscum contagiosum?
It may have a daunting name, but molluscum contagiosum is actually a benign and fairly common problem. MC is a viral infection that produces small, red papules. It can occur just about anywhere on the body. Although MC is caused by a virus, in most people the virus remains based on the skin and does not otherwise circulate throughout the body.

The good news is that about the only effect caused by MC (other than the visual bumps) is itching. As with any itch, over-scratching can potentially lead to an infection; otherwise, the major drawback is simply the presence of the bumps. If the MC becomes widespread, it can be off-putting to others, especially potential sexual partners.

What causes it to spread?
MC is a very contagious virus that is easily spread through direct skin-to-skin contact. There have been concerns that it could possibly be transmitted from an infected person sharing a swimming pool, but studies have not found this to be the case.

In adults, the initial contact is most often through sexual activity; however, a man can easily spread the MC to other parts of his body. If he is inspecting his itchy penis and finds an MC bump, he is very likely to touch it. The virus may then pass onto his hand or fingers, and if he touches another part of his body before thoroughly washing his hands, MC infection may appear on that body part as well. Covering the affected areas with clothing or bandages can help prevent the spread, both to others and to other parts of the body.

With that in mind, it's easy to see why a man with MC should inform any sexual partners of this fact, especially if the MC is on his penis; no one really wants to run the risk of the MC infecting the vagina or anus, after all.

How is MC treated?
Often MC is left untreated and simply goes away on its own, although this can take anywhere from 6 months to several years. If a man searches the internet, he can easily come across many treatments for MC; however, it's much better to see a doctor for proper treatment. Many "home remedies" can actually end up causing pain or skin damage; when dealing with the penis, it's especially advisable to avoid both of these outcomes!

Doctors usually recommend one of three methods for fighting MC infection:
  • Freezing off the papules.
  • Draining the papules of their fluids.
  • Using a laser to kill off the bumps.
Although MC is a relatively harmless and benign issue, it can be a major inconvenience: after all, in some cases it may mean avoiding partner sex for a period of time, and that may make for a very unhappy penis.

Keeping the penis MC-free is not the only way to keep one's member happy: maintaining good overall penis health is essential to that goal! One of the most effective ways to enhance penis health is through the regular use of a superior penis nutrient cream (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil). Selecting the best option means making sure that the cream has an appropriate range of vitamins and nutrients, including those such as shea butter and vitamin E that can provide adequate hydration and moisturization. It also is essential to choose a cream with ingredients that pay attention to penile cell metabolism, such as vitamin B5.

Coping with Penis Pimples - No Popping or Squeezing, Please

Put plainly, a pimple is a haven of infected slime that's trapped beneath the surface of the skin. The throbbing and aching that accompanies these lesions can drive any man wild, especially when the source of the pain is located below the belt. Any guy with penis pimples might be willing to break out the needles, scissors and tweezers in order to release the pus and allow the skin to heal. But there's good reason to use caution when dealing with these delicate tissues. In fact, proper penis care for these lumps and bumps should not involve any sort of squeezing or picking.

Dangers of DIY Techniques
At the core of a penis pimple is a bit of oil or skin. This little plug blocks the normal secretions of the skin, and this blocked fluid makes a perfect home for bacteria. In time, when the immune system notices that there is an invader in the area, the affected skin can redden and swell. It's not uncommon for penis pimples to grow to enormous sizes, and they can often be quite painful, not to mention unattractive.

Pricking the tip of a blemish with a pin or scissors might provide immediate relief, as it can allow the trapped fluid to escape the confines of the skin, but it could also be dangerous. The air is full of bacterial cells looking for a home, and a man's lap might also be home to hundreds of thousands of cells that are eager to migrate below the skin. Pricking the skin could give these organisms the invitation they need to invade, and the subsequent infections that set in could be even more painful, when compared to the original pimple.

Additionally, most penis pimples involve deep tissues, so removing the pus means squeezing and pushing and prodding. In some cases, this allows the infection to come out. In other cases, the infected fluids are pushed down into lower portions of the skin. Abscesses can form when infections take hold very far beneath the skin, and sometimes, experts must be called in to rectify the problem via surgery.

Proper Penis Care
If pricking and squeezing is out of the question, most men might wonder what they can do to relieve the pain when a penis pimple sets in. Thankfully, the most conservative steps tend to be most effective. Soaking the area can help the infection to move to the top of the skin, and it might also help to reduce pain. Men can get this kind of relief by:

  • Soaking in a jacuzzi
  • Taking a warm bath
  • Applying a warm, wet washcloth several times per day
  • Rinsing the area with warm water after each trip to the bathroom

In time, the infected material will rise to the surface, and all of the collected tissue will be reabsorbed by the body, with no poke of the skin needed. In a few days, a tiny scab might form and slough off, and a man will be ready for action once more.

Prevention Techniques
Dealing with a penis pimple is far from pleasant, and most men who endure these problems would be thrilled if they never saw another mountain of pain arise anywhere on their member. Thankfully, there are some things men can do to keep their sensitive skin healthy so it's less apt to break out in painful lesions.

Washing the area with warm water on a daily basis is key, as this practice can help to cleanse away bacteria that might hope to infect the tissue. Following up that rinse with the application of a quality penis health creme (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) can also be helpful. These products can keep skin soft and supple, so fewer flakes of skin can block pores and lead to pimples, and ingredients like vitamin A, which have antibacterial properties, are often used for treating acne and other skin conditions. With this quick amendment to the daily routine, penis pimples might be a thing of the past.

Penis Pimples – How to Banish Unsightly Bumps

Acne. A condition that nobody likes and everybody is bound to encounter at some point in their life.  But what happens when acne continues beyond the adolescent stage, and what happens when acne spreads to the genital area?  An embarrassing – and potentially painful – condition, penis pimples are, unfortunately, a relatively common occurrence. While penis acne may not be an entirely avoidable situation for some men, the appropriate penis care may help to cut back on outbreaks and speed recovery time when they do happen.

What Exactly is a Penis Pimple?

Penis pimples, also known as penis acne pustules, are harmless, though their untimely appearance may strike fear into the heart of the man who first spots a red, discharging bump on his package.

That being said, if the bump looks suspicious, begins to excessively bleed or ooze, or appears shortly after unprotected sex with a new partner -- it may be worth putting in a phone call to the doc to rule out any sexually transmitted infection.

What Causes Penis Pimples?

There are a couple of factors that may contribute to the appearance of pimples in the genital region.

Ingrown Hairs:  A pimple at the base of the penis is most likely related to an ingrown hair.  Clogged pores tend to develop in hair follicles, and an ingrown hair is a frequent culprit.  Men with thicker, coarse body hair may suffer from this condition more often than those with a more modest covering.

Shaving:  Shaving one’s private parts is becoming a more frequent practice, and though the man or his partner may prefer “man-scaping,” it can have the unpleasant side effect of triggering acne.  Penis acne that shows up a few days after shaving is likely related to an irritation cause by the razor. Some men are prone to red bumps on their face after shaving, and the genitals are no different, razor burn that happens down there tends to manifest as an acne breakout.

Excessive perspiration:  Just like the rest of the body, acne forms when pores become clogged with dirt, oil and sweat.  Men who have a sweaty undercarriage may be more likely to break out, particularly those who apply powders to combat the sweat problem, as this may exacerbate and further clog the skin pores.

How to Treat Penis Pimples

Luckily, treatment of this condition is relatively simple and should have the penis looking and feeling healthy in no time.

Shaving Tips

If shaving is causing acne, and not shaving is simply not an option, men can try shaving smarter. A sharp razor should always be used, as dull razors pull and irritate the skin.  Standing in a hot shower for a while before shaving will soften hair and open hair follicles.  Trimming excessively long hair before using the razor can also prevent pulling and irritation of the skin.

Hygiene

The best way to reduce the oil and blockage is to maintain excellent penis hygiene by washing the penis every day, ensuring the area is thoroughly cleansed with a gentle soap.  At a separate time of day men, should cleanse the area by using a washcloth and the sink or take a second quick rinse in the shower.  It is particularly important to take a shower after working out, sweating, or applying talcum powder to the region to reduce the potential of oil clogging the pores.

Penis Care

Using a gentle moisturizer after getting out of the shower is also recommended; lotions should be applied while skin is still damp to hold moisture in.  When the penis is dry, the skin produces more oil to keep it supple, so by applying the cream, less pore-clogging oil will be secreted on the penis.  A high-quality penis health formula is especially useful as it delivers needed vitamins and nutrients to help keep the penis healthy (most professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil).  The rich moisturizing properties will keep the skin healthy and may help reduce the occurrence of unsightly penis pimples.

Penis Pimples - Tips for Handling Acne on the Manhood

Acne is considered the scourge of adolescence, but even older men may experience the occasional outbreak here and there on their bodies. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for men to see telltale dots spring up even on the skin of the penis, leading to a temptation to take action with pins, tweezers, sharp fingernails and even scissors, hoping to snip open the skin and drain the blockage.
While it's true that a popped pimple tends to be less painful than a cyst that’s full to bursting, breaking open a penis pimple could bring about some nasty side effects. Professional advice from a dermatologist, as well as proper penis treatment, could help men to alleviate the problem without doing yet more damage in the process.

Determining the Cause

A standard pimple is easy to identify. Most are small and red, and beneath the skin, a tiny core of white material shines through. These little acne cysts commonly form in hair follicles, so most men with penis pimples develop them along the pubic hairline. A few unlucky souls have developed penis acne along the shaft of the penis, however, and these lesions can be incredibly sore and painful if they fill with pus.

A small dot on the penis can't automatically be attributed to acne, however, as some other medical conditions also cause sores to form along the penis. Pearly penile papules, for example, are harmless little specks of white tissue that form in a ring on the tip of the penis. To the untrained eye, these lesions can look a little like acne. Similarly, some sexually transmitted diseases may cause acne-like lesions to form on the penis.

A doctor can use a visual exam and perhaps a quick laboratory test to determine what's causing the lesion and what should be done about it. Any man with a painful speck should consider a doctor's appointment as a vital part of the healing process.

Hacking, Cutting and Popping - Acne Removal Measures to Avoid

Once a doctor has determined that acne, not some other more serious condition, is at fault for the blemishes, it can be tempting to "solve" the problem by eliminating the visible evidence. However, lancing or popping an acne spot to get rid of the material inside can allow bacteria to move from the encapsulated skin beneath the pimple into the bloodstream, resulting in further inflammation, swelling and discomfort. In addition, popping or cutting the lesions can lead to scars, resulting in more permanent disfigurement of the penile skin.

Good Alternatives for Acne Treatment

If acne is the cause of the penis bump, a warm compress can bring the infected material to the surface, where the body can process the detritus and whisk it away.

Men with painful penis pimples may want to avoid sexual activity, as the affected skin may be further irritated. Furthermore, the friction involved in sex can cause the lesions to burst, causing considerable pain and increasing the chances of ongoing infection. It's best to focus on healing and leave the sex aside until the body is functioning as it should.

Treating the area with vitamins A and C, found in quality penis health cremes, may help to shrink the lesions, heal the affected skin and prevent further breakouts from occurring. Once the skin has healed, these cremes can help the skin to stay soft, smooth and flexible. Applying a penis vitamin cream (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) is remarkably easy, too, as the product absorbs quickly and leaves no oily residue behind. It could be an excellent acne-prevention tool for men who want to ensure that the penis looks great and functions beautifully, each and every time.

To Pop, Or Not To Pop - Penis Pimples And Papules

At the first sight of bumps or sores on the penis, it is natural for all kinds of unpleasant thoughts to come to mind, as guys think back to their last sexual partner and wonder if they’ve picked up some kind of contagious social disease. The good news is that in many cases, there is a less worrying reason and the bad news is that if a guy has to worry about an STD it’s definitely time to start using protection.

Penis pimples (yes, acne affects the penis, too), bumps and pustules, which can be mistaken for genital warts and other more serious issues, have a benign cause in many cases and can be treated easily using over-the-counter lotions, cleansers and penis vitamins and minerals.

What causes blemishes and bumps on the penis skin?

• Penis Pimples - Just when guys think they’ve got a handle on the acne thing and have neutralized the blemishes that tend to appear on the face, chest and back, it turns out that pimples can occur on the penis, too. Penis acne generally consists of small, red or white bumps and most often appear around the base of the penis, although they can also show up on the head or shaft. Like other types of acne, penis pimples are the result of bacteria in the follicles of the skin, causing inflammation and filling the follicles with a pus-like substance. Aside from being an unattractive feature, penis pimples are not actually dangerous and cannot be transmitted to a partner.

• Pearly Penile Papules - Penis bumps on the crown or under the foreskin. For uncircumcised men in particular it is not unusual to encounter small, firm, flesh-colored bumps on or around the glans and under the foreskin that may resemble a string of bubbles. These are naturally occurring and are generally nothing to worry about although they can be mistaken for genital warts. Men who are worried about a skin condition of the penis should seek medical advice without delay.

How to get rid of penis pimples
Like acne on other parts of the body, penis pimples can be stubborn but in general, over-the-counter remedies such as salicylic acid will eventually do the trick. In addition, because pimples are caused by bacteria, keeping the skin clean and dry is important. Nourishing the skin of the penis and genital area with skin-friendly vitamins and minerals can also boost the body’s natural immune function and may speed the healing process.

While it can be tempting to try to pop blemishes on the penis, especially when they are red and inflamed, this is rarely a good idea. Pus can be expressed from pimples in this way, but this will not work on penile papules, and in any case, popping and pricking the blemishes can result in scarring and can cause further infection.

How to prevent unsightly penis blemishes
While not all breakouts can be prevented (hormones are a factor in the tendency to develop acne), guys can take measures to reduce the appearance of these unsightly penile zits. For instance, shaving the pubic area can cause ingrown hairs and irritation which may lead to a crop of acne. Instead try using a hair trimmer or scissors which may be easier on the skin. For guys who must shave, a new, sharp razor is the best bet.

Secondly, keeping the area clean and dry is necessary as bacteria tend to thrive in warm, moist areas. Treating the skin with natural anti-bacterial solutions such as vitamin A (or retinol, a common acne treatment and preventive) may help to keep acne away. Moisturizing the skin can prevent the drying which can cause irritation of the follicles, leading to inflammation and acne breakouts.

A specialized penis health crème (most health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) which is applied directly to the penis skin may help to provide the right combination of nutrients and moisturizers that are needed to keep the skin in balance, minimize the presence of harmful bacteria, and maintain clear, attractive skin.
