Delayed Ejaculation: A Penis Function Issue Needing More Study

Mention penis function issues and what comes to mind to most men is either premature ejaculation or an inability to attain and/or maintain an erection. These are definitely penis function issues, but they are far from the only penis health issues which impact function of the organ. One of the lesser-known such issues is delayed ejaculation, sometimes called retarded ejaculation. And it’s a subject which deserves more study from the sexual health community.

What is delayed ejaculation?

In some ways, the name delayed ejaculation sums up the problem. It describes a situation in which a man continues to engage in sex (either with a partner or with himself) past the point when he wishes to have ejaculated or orgasmed.

But some medical professionals choose to define it as when a man is unable to ejaculate after having engaged sexually (again, with a partner or with himself) for 20 minutes or longer. This is a handy definition for research purposes, but it doesn’t accurately capture the issue at hand. There are many men who routinely engage in sex (especially masturbation) for much longer than 20 minutes and are perfectly happy to do so.

No, the definition needs to emphasize the fact that a man is continuing to have sex despite the fact that the wishes to ejaculate – that he has, in a sense, reached past the pinnacle of his desire and is continuing on without knowing when – of if – he will attain the release he so badly desires.

Not a joke

Men like no joke about being able to “last” for hours, but for the 1% to 4% of men who genuinely suffer from delayed ejaculation, this penis function problem is no laughing matter. It can lead to extreme frustration, inhibition, worry, anxiety and even depression.

Although there has been some attempt to study delayed ejaculation, there is still a lot about it that needs to be studied, beyond the need for a clearer definition. For example, how does the penis behave physically during this period, and is that behavior different from the behavior of the penis which achieves “typical” ejaculation? Meaning, does it go through different cycles of becoming more and less erect? If so, are there differences in how long these cycles last?

Does stimulation of the penis differ with delayed ejaculation – is it more or less sensitive on different points at different times? Does it respond more effectively to certain kinds of strokes or stimulation? There are several possible causes, including nerve damage, reactions to medications, side effects of certain conditions, mental health status, etc. What “mixture” of causes is most common? If certain medications have the unintended consequence of creating a delayed ejaculation situation, are there some which can induce an opposite issue, ones which can create a richer sensory sensation in the penis which would lead more naturally to release?

Scientists are interested in the issue, and research into it could provide greater general understanding of male sexual anatomical response. Here’s hoping that some breakthrough study will be forthcoming.

While further study of the penis function issue called delayed ejaculation is certainly needed, men in the meantime need to take steps to keep their penis health in general on the upswing. One way to help is by daily application of a first rate penis health creme (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin). Look for a crème with the “L” pair – L-carnitine and l-arginine. The former is a neuroprotective agent which can be a big help in retaining penis sensation that may otherwise be lost due to rough handling. The latter is an amino acid which helps the body produce nitric oxide. This in turn better enables penile blood vessels to expand and open when greater blood flow is needed.

Delayed Ejaculation: Handling This Penis Function Issue

Mention premature ejaculation in a group of guys and someone is almost bound to jokingly claim that he has just the opposite penis health problem. In fact, delayed ejaculation (sometimes called retarded ejaculation or prolonged ejaculation or impaired ejaculation) can be a very legitimate penis function problem – and one that can be frustrating both to those who suffer from it and their sexual partners.

What it is

Just as premature ejaculation involves a man who ejaculates much earlier than he would like, delayed ejaculation keeps a man from ejaculating. Although there is no one clear definition, it is generally accepted that if a man wishes to ejaculate but requires more than 30 minutes to achieve that goal, he is said to be experiencing delayed ejaculation. (It’s important to note that the man in question desires to ejaculate. A man who engages in sexual activity for longer than 30 minutes but then ejaculates when he is ready is controlling his ejaculation, and so his situation would not be considered delayed ejaculation.) In some cases, a man may “give up” before he reaches ejaculation at all.

It’s not unusual for a man to experience an occasional episode of delayed ejaculation; it is only when the situation is consistent or persistent that it is considered a penis function issue.

Causes

What causes delayed ejaculation? There can be many causes. For example, sometimes it may be psychological and comes about due to depression, anxiety about performance, unexpressed emotions, etc. Some medications, such as certain antidepressants, blood pressure drugs, anti-seizure treatments, or alcohol, might cause delayed ejaculation in some men. There can also be physical issues, such as pelvic injury, thyroid or testosterone decrease, urinary tract infections, or nerve damage. In some cases, rough handling of the penis may result in diminished sensation, which can be a factor.

Treatment

Treating delayed ejaculation depends on pinpointing the cause or causes which have brought it about. If the underlying cause is psychological, seeking help from a mental health professional is advised. If medications are responsible, consulting with a doctor about possible alternatives can be helpful.

When the cause is physical, the specific physical cause will determine treatment. For example, low thyroid or testosterone levels may require hormone treatment. Medicine can help banish a urinary tract infection. And there are some medications which have been used to help fight delayed ejaculation.

In some cases, it may be suggested that a man explore stimulating other erogenous zones., for example, the nipples can provide sensual stimulation. Prostate massage often results in enhanced ejaculation for many men.

Sometimes a man is asked to try to “retrain” his penis. If he typically masturbates in one certain way or on one certain area of the penis, he may be encouraged to switch things up: use his left hand instead of his right, apply different levels of pressure, concentrate on the shaft instead of the glans (or vice versa). This can often help a man to experience ejaculation on a more typical schedule.

Men whose penis function is impaired by delayed ejaculation are well advised to incorporate a first class penis health creme (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin) into their daily penis care regimen. A healthy penis is more likely to respond to proper stimulation. Choosing a crème with L-carnitine can be especially valuable. L-carnitine is an amino acid with neuroprotective properties that helps protect the penis from loss of sensation. The crème should ideally also include L-arginine. Another amino acid, L-arginine helps boost nitric oxide production; this in turn enables penile blood vessels to more fully expand when extra blood is needed for the erectile process.

Delayed Ejaculation: How to Avoid This Penis Problem

Let’s be honest: Who doesn’t want to last longer in bed? Actually, there are some men who would be more than happy to trade places with a guy who doesn’t last all that long. That’s because they suffer from delayed ejaculation, a condition that keeps them from ejaculating for a long while during sexual activity. Though some men might think this is a great thing, the reality isn’t so wonderful. It’s important to know about it, so that a man can take the appropriate penis care steps if it ever happens to him.

Why is delayed ejaculation so bad?

Though it might seem like lasting longer in bed would be the goal of any man, it is entirely possible to last a little too long - or to last so long that orgasm remains elusive. Imagine having a wonderful evening with a partner but then never getting close to that big finish everyone craves. Or taking so long to get there that the partner becomes sore, frustrated and bored with the action. Neither of these scenarios are appealing, but for men with delayed ejaculation, it can happen all the time.

What causes delayed ejaculation?

There can be many reasons this happens. For some men, the reasons are well-known, such as nerve damage, prostate issues or other medical conditions, all of which must be treated first before the delayed ejaculation can be addressed.

But for most men, there seems to be no reason for the problem. Sometimes it might be an infection they are unaware of, an underlying medical condition they didn’t know about, or even something as simple as penis skin that is far too dry or an injury to the genitals. It could also have a psychological base, such as a man worrying about pregnancy, coming from a very strict upbringing or experiencing guilt or anxiety.

Treating delayed ejaculation

There are many ways to treat delayed ejaculation; the method used will depend upon what it causing the issue. As mentioned earlier, those who have underlying medical conditions must have those issues treated before they can address delayed ejaculation. Those who are dealing with injuries or rough, dry penis skin can find help through simple medical treatments, as well as the use of a heavy-duty penis health crème.

Many doctors will turn to certain medications to help the issue. These might include drugs for anxiety and depression, some blood pressure medications and herbal remedies, including over the counter supplements that are known to bolster penis health.

Those who face delayed ejaculation or other penis problems thanks to psychological issues might have a much longer road to treatment. Their issues might respond to counseling coupled with over the counter supplements. In these cases, the counseling might take a long while, but a man often sees improvement over the span of a few years.

Taking care to preserve penis sensitivity is a good way to help fight delayed ejaculation. The penis skin has many nerve endings, all of which need to be in good shape in order to give him the sensations that lead to orgasm. To make sure this happens, it’s important to keep the skin smooth and supple with the use of powerful emollients, such as Shea butter and vitamin E.

In addition to fighting the dryness, a man can enhance his nerve response by using a great penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin) . Ingredients like L-carnitine, which protects against peripheral nerve damage, and vitamin C and D, which are great for enhancing erections, are a few essential nutrients that can help a man’s penis stay at its most responsive.

Penis Sensitivity and Delayed Ejaculation

For many men, premature ejaculation can be a real problem. It can be so much of a problem, in fact, that those men might lament their heightened penis sensitivity and wish they could reduce it. But for some guys, their problem is just the opposite. Despite the best penis care and ‘doing everything right,’ they might suffer from delayed ejaculation.

Some guys might wonder why delayed ejaculation is a problem. After all, most men want to last as long as they can in bed. From the outside looking in, it might seem as though delayed ejaculation is actually a good thing. But for the man who experiences it, the problem is definitely real.

Why is delayed ejaculation a problem?

There are many reasons why it can be a serious problem. Imagine being in bed with a partner, thrusting away to find pleasure, but it takes a very long time - so long, in fact, that the once-eager erection fades away. The partner is already satisfied, sometimes many times over, and is ready to be done with the encounter. The penis and the partner are aching, sore and frustrated. A man might experience a great deal of pressure to ‘get it done’ and ejaculate, but he can’t. He might also find that if he goes for too long, the promise of pleasure becomes even more elusive.

Though many men dream of being able to go for a very long time, most will agree that pleasure is the point - and that by not achieving orgasm or ejaculation, they are missing out on a very important part of the equation!

How does penis sensitivity come into play?

There could be many reasons for delayed ejaculation, and a man must be thoroughly checked by a doctor to rule out any medical or psychological issues that might contribute to it. Most men will find that the top reason for delayed ejaculation is a lack of penis sensitivity.

But where does this come from? In most cases, it’s the result of trauma.

Sometimes the trauma to the penis is evident. For instance, someone who has suffered a penis fracture is likely to have problems with penis sensitivity for some time afterward. The same is true for those who might have suffered a sports injury. As the penis heals, a thin layer of scar tissue forms right underneath the skin. This can interfere with the nerves, which then leads to a less-sensitive penis.

Sometimes the trauma happens over time, in small doses. This is especially true if a man prefers a little rough handling of the penis from time to time, uses a certain masturbation technique that focuses on one area of the penis, or enjoys coupling without using adequate lubrication to keep things moving smoothly. In this case, the sensitivity will slowly diminish over time. A man might simply notice that he lasts longer then he used to, and at first this might not be a problem…but a year or two down the line, he’s lasting thirty minutes or longer, and then the problems begin to result.

It’s vital that a man pay close attention to this penis sensitivity to help prevent the problem of delayed ejaculation. One big step he can take is the use of a specially formulated penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin) . He should look for a crème that contains L-carnitine, a neuroprotective that encourages the health of nerves in the penis, as well as vitamin C, which is great for collagen production. Both these ingredients, applied daily in a Shea butter base, can help decrease the effect of trauma on the penis and protect it from future damage.

When Diminished Penis Sensitivity Leads to Delayed Ejaculation

Men who are cognizant of the myriad issues that affect penis health know that diminished penis sensitivity is not an issue most men want to have. While it’s true that having a penis sensitivity that produces a "hair trigger" response is not necessarily desirable, those men who suffer from a perilously low degree of penis sensitivity may run the risk of enduring delayed ejaculation - a situation in which ejaculation and orgasm is postponed to a degree which can be frustrating, to say the least.

A genuine problem

Most men enjoy the image of themselves as a perpetual sex machine that can thrust away for hours and bring pleasure to dozens of women without breaking a sweat. And sure, it’s a nice fantasy - but the reality is that few men want to be in a position where they have to work incredibly hard in order to bring about an ejaculation. That’s especially true when all of their efforts fail and they end up working a painfully erect penis for hours without anything (personally) to show for it.
But is this a real problem? Do such men exist whose penis sensitivity is so low that egregiously delayed ejaculation is the norm for them? Unfortunately, the answer is yes.

Exactly how many men are afflicted in this manner is unclear; reliable sexual statistics are notoriously hard to come by. But even if only 1% of men have this problem, that translates into millions of men dealing with the issue.

Causes
There can be several causes of diminished penis sensitivity and a resulting delayed ejaculation issue. These include:

- Alcohol or drug use, both of which can create a situation in which ejaculation becomes difficult.

- Stroke, which can bring about a neurologically-based disconnect that diminishes sensitivity.

- Certain medications (including some antidepressants), which tend to slow down ejaculatory response. Ironically, some medications used to treat erectile dysfunction may have the side effect of delayed ejaculation.

- Psychological issues can result in delayed response. Depression or performance anxiety can lead to ejaculatory issues, both in terms of ejaculating too earlier or after too long a period.

- Peripheral nerve damage. This is one of the more common causes. When the penis is handled too roughly for too long, there is some damage to the nerves that are responsible for the glorious sensations that bring about an ejaculatory response. When this damage occurs frequently over time, it can lead to a continuing diminishment of sensation. In many cases, this actually makes erectile achievement difficult, but in other cases, it may not impede the erection but may hamper the ability of the penis to reach the stimulation point that produces the desired ejaculatory response.

In cases where diminished penis sensitivity is related to peripheral nerve damage, delayed ejaculation can often be helped by the daily application of an exceptional penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin). Not just any crème is going to be of value here, however; it is of paramount importance that the selected crème contains acetyl L carnitine. This ingredient has neuroprotective qualities that make it an asset in restoring the sensitivity lost from peripheral nerve damage due to rough and/or excessive handling of the equipment. It’s also a boon if the crème contains vitamin C, which is well known for aiding in collagen production and the resultant penile tissue firmness which adds an extra layer of protection to penile health. Finally, a crème with skin soothing moisturizers like Shea butter and vitamin E will be able to repair damaged skin caused by the "workout" that a penis may receive when it has been victimized by delayed ejaculation.

Sore Penis Culprit: Fighting Delayed Ejaculation

Many men who enjoy an active sex life (whether with a partner or alone), find that the result of all that pleasure can be a very sore penis. (Is the pain worth the price? Most men would say yes.) A sore penis is especially likely in the cases of men who find themselves the victim of delayed ejaculation. Treating a sore penis, and attempting to treat delayed ejaculation, is a requirement to ensure continued penis health - and to restore enjoyment of a man’s sexual activities.

Premature gets the publicity.

Delayed ejaculation may not seem like much of a problem to many men. Guys are much more used to hearing about the problem of premature ejaculation, in which a man ejaculates too soon. But delayed ejaculation is indeed a concern for some men.

Also called impaired or retarded ejaculation, delayed ejaculation refers to any situation in which a man is either unable to ejaculate (despite the presence of a strong erection) or can only ejaculate after an abnormally long time of continuous stimulated activity. In some cases, a man with this condition may engage in sex for two or more hours without releasing - which can indeed cause a mighty sore penis.

This should not be confused with edging, a practice in which a man intentionally prevents himself from ejaculating over a period of time. With delayed ejaculation, a man is trying to orgasm, but not succeeding.

Figures are hard to come by, but some experts believe the incidence of delayed ejaculation is 3% or less; however, sex therapists have reported that this figure may be increasing.

Why the increase?

The supposed reason for the possible increase is related to either a presumed greater incidence in masturbatory activity in general among men and/or a greater exposure to pornographic stimulation.
Delayed ejaculation sometimes results when a man’s penis becomes sensitized to being handled a certain way during masturbation. When this happens, a man may find that the sensations of vaginal intercourse, while pleasurable, are not intense enough to stimulate the penis to ejaculation.

By the same token, some men who incorporate pornography into their masturbatory experiences may become "wired" to find specific pornographic images and scenarios exciting. Without those images, they may find it difficult to achieve sufficient stimulation for release.

It should be noted that both of these explanations are theories only and that most men who masturbate frequently and/or use pornography continue to enjoy a healthy sex life.

Other causes

Delayed ejaculation may also be related to other causes, such as certain medications (including some antidepressants and high blood pressure medications) and certain medical conditions (including nerve damage, prostate problems, urinary tract infections and heart disease).

Depending on the cause, there are several things a man can do to alleviate delayed ejaculation. Decreasing the frequency of masturbation and/or masturbating with a different hand may be helpful, as may be cutting down on the amount of exposure to pornography. Consulting a doctor about a different medication or getting treatment for a medical condition that may be contributing to the problem is also advised. It may take some time to "retrain" the penis so that the issue resolves.

As mentioned, many men with delayed ejaculation can experience a seriously sore penis from all the friction and stimulation over an extended period of time. Treating the sore penis is generally easier than treating delayed ejaculation, especially if one employs a superior penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil). Proper hydration is essential for soothing a raw manhood, so using a crème that include both a high end emollient (such as shea butter) and an exceptional natural hydrator (such as vitamin) will help to replenish the skin oils and aid the healing process. Since penis de-sensitization may contribute to delayed ejaculation, using a crème with acetyl L carnitine is highly recommended. This ingredient is neuroprotective and can help to avoid peripheral nerve damage that can impact penis sensitivity.

Sex Positions - Keeping Doggy Style Fresh

Doggy style is beloved by many couples for the dominant nature of the from-behind thrusting, the deep feel it provides and the easy access to the G-spot the position affords the penis. While traditional doggy style is plenty thrilling for many, it never hurts to update one’s inventory of sex positions. Along with maintaining proper penis health, such refreshing of one’s stock may be one of the most important sex tips out there. Consider these five doggy variations:
1) Tight-Legged: When the woman squeezes her thighs together in doggy position, it gives both partners an extra-tight feel. She can arch her back to achieve different areas of stimulation, supporting herself on her hands instead of her elbows. Or, she can lie her torso on the bed with arms stretched above her head.
2) Prone: The woman can lie on her stomach, either flat on the bed or with a couple pillows propped beneath her pelvis. With her legs tight, this again provides a tight feel. Propping up her pelvis will be ideal for couples who enjoy deep thrusting.
3) Kneeling: A woman may kneel in front of her partner with her knees spread apart as he kneels and enters from behind. Having a wall or bedpost in front of the woman is a good idea so that she can maintain balance. A man can use a free hand to massage her clitoris in this position, and the closeness of their bodies provides great intimacy.
4) Him Standing: A man can stand while his partner kneels, legs spread or together, on a bed, couch or other raised, stable surface. This position can boost the sense of power and domination on the man’s end. Alternatively, if the partners’ heights allow, the man can bend the woman over the bed, resting her torso on it while she stands as well. If the woman is short, she might want to consider wearing a pair of heels to facilitate this position.
5) Her Standing: If a couple is really into the power dynamic of doggy style, then having the man kneel on the bed while the woman stands in front of him and bends down may be ideal. Her torso will be parallel to the floor, and he will have to hold her hips for balance. To make it more stable for her, place a chair or other sturdy object in front of her that she can hold onto.
Along with mixing up doggy style, partners should explore and communicate about what additions to the position they may enjoy. For example, if a female partner enjoys having her hair pulled or her hips grabbed and pulled into the man as he thrusts, they may want to play around with these forms of domination. And, of course, spanking is very well accommodated by doggy style positions.
While the man is typically in control in doggy style, it’s worth considering that a woman can also take over from the front. The man can stand or kneel while the woman pushes on the bed or floor with her hands and thrusts her vagina up and down the man’s penis. This can be immensely enjoyable for both partners, particularly when the man needs a break.
Just as the importance of fresh sex positions cannot be underestimated, neither can that of maintaining a healthy penis. In addition to proper washing and adequate lubrication, a man can benefit from the use of a penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil). A crème with vitamin E and Shea butter provides dual protection against chafing and dryness by moisturizing the skin. Since frequent and/or rough sexual activity can leave the member raw, using a moisturizer is a good idea for all active men.

Low Penis Sensitivity: Tips to Help with Delayed Ejaculation

Since the release of seed usually coincides with orgasm for men, males who habitually experience delayed ejaculation often do not enjoy the sexual experience as much as they wish to. When diminished penis sensitivity makes release a problem, even when practicing appropriate penis care, a man may become frustrated and dissatisfied.
The issue
Men who have a hard time holding back ejaculation, especially those who are premature in this department, may not have much sympathy for their fellow men who find that they often engage in sexual activity for a considerable amount of time before achieving ejaculation.
Yet it can indeed be a big problem. Imagine being a man who is valiantly continuing to thrust long after his partner has achieved satisfaction. The man is likely to become self-conscious and feel a different kind of performance anxiety, a pressure to unload immediately. This may in turn make it even more difficult for him to ejaculate. His willing and accommodating partner may become sore and tired from the continued activity.
And sometimes these encounters end with the man losing his erection before achieving satisfaction. That can be quite frustrating for him, but it can also create problems in his relationship. His partner may come to believe that she must be doing something wrong or that he doesn’t find her sufficiently sensual if his delayed ejaculation becomes a non-ejaculation.
Diminished sensitivity
There are numerous reasons why a man may experience delayed ejaculation. Sometimes it may be psychological in nature. At other times, it may be a positional issues, meaning that his penis is such that it needs a specific positioning during the sexual act to receive the friction that it requires.
Often, however, delayed ejaculation is a result of diminished penis sensitivity. Everything is functioning just fine, mentally and physically, but the penis itself has become somewhat "deadened" and just doesn’t have the same degree of sensitivity that it used to have.
Why? Well, sometimes the reason is that the penis has suffered some kind of trauma. This can be a sudden and very noticeable trauma, as when the erect penis slams into an object unexpectedly or at an unexpected angle, causing a blunt force injury, accompanied by pain and/or bruising. This may also result in the creation of a thin layer of scar tissue, which can lessen the organ’s ability to experience sensation fully.
In such instances, the trauma is quite noticeable. In many other cases, however, the trauma may be much subtler and may go by unnoticed. In these instances, the trauma is caused by rough handling, usually during sexual activity, but it may not be so rough as to be noticeable. For example, a man may masturbate frequently while using a grip that is far too tight. The friction causes damage, but the sensual pleasure he is deriving causes him to ignore the friction-related discomfort.
Similarly, a man may enjoy partner sex without sufficient lubrication. The friction again may not be noticed due to the enjoyment of the activity.
These more subtle forms of trauma can cause peripheral nerve damage. Over time, they can contribute to a significant decrease in penis sensitivity. The result may be the delayed ejaculation issue under discussion.
Care
One excellent way to work on the issue of delayed ejaculation caused by decreased penis sensitivity is to regularly apply a top-drawer penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) that contains acetyl L-carnitine. This neuroprotective ingredient is excellent at helping to restore penis sensitivity to a manhood that has experienced the traumas mentioned above. If the crème also contains vitamin C, so much the better. Vitamin C is well known for its advanced role in collagen production and penile tissue firmness. These two components are essential for men who are working through penis sensitivity issues - or who simply want to better maintain the health of this most important of organs.

Delayed Ejaculation – Causes and Treatments

For some men, the idea of "going all night" - or even lasting beyond five or ten minutes - seems like a dream. However, delayed ejaculation can be a real problem for some men (and their partners); it can also indicate an underlying health condition. There are several different ways in which delayed ejaculation can manifest, with some men completely unable to release and others needing more than 30 minutes of stimulation in order to do so. Determining what penis care steps will successfully help a man manage this condition requires learning more about the different types, identifying the source and, in some cases, seeking medical treatment.

Types of Delayed Ejaculation

There are four general categories of this condition:
- Generalized: an inability to or difficulty finishing in any sexual situation
- Situational: an inability to or difficulty finishing in certain sexual situations (e.g. some men can only release with oral sex, manual stimulation or certain partners)
- Lifelong: presence of the condition since the time of sexual maturity
- Acquired: when the condition develops after a period of normal sexual function
Identifying which categories a man’s condition falls into will help him, along with medical professionals, work toward finding the source.
There are many potential causes of delayed ejaculation. Although all men for whom this condition is problematic would do well to run it by a health professional, those with lifelong and/or generalized delayed ejaculation should definitely do so, as these forms of the condition likely indicate a health problem. When acquired, it may also indicate the onset of a medical or psychological issue. Situational delayed ejaculation generally requires some behavioral changes in order to subside.
The following four categories of causes may be behind the condition:

Physical Issues
- Birth defects
- Injured pelvic nerves
- Surgery to the prostate
- Urinary tract or prostate infections
- Heart disease
- Stroke
- Diabetes
- Low hormone levels

Psychological Sources
- Poor communication with partner
- Stress
- Commitment issues
- Anxiety (performance or otherwise)
- Incongruence between fantasies and sexual realities
- Cultural or religious concerns

Behavioral Causes
- Masturbating very frequently and/or with a very tight grip (which train the penis only to respond to those specific types of stimulation)
- Viewing hardcore pornography (which also trains the penis to respond to a narrow range of situations/images)

Substance Sources
- High alcohol consumption (acute or chronic)
- Some antipsychotics
- Some diuretics
- Some blood pressure medications
- Many antidepressants

How to Get Help
If delayed ejaculation is causing relationship problems for one or both partners, or if it may indicate a health condition, men should seek out the assistance of a doctor. If a medical condition is behind the issue, treating the underlying condition is the answer. This may involve medications and/or healthy lifestyle changes to combat both conditions at once.

Psychological causes of delayed ejaculation may merit some time in therapy. Cognitive behavioral therapy is wonderful for people who could use help dealing with stress, anxiety and/or depression. Relationship counseling, or simply working toward more open communication with a partner, can help men whose condition is caused by such problems.

Some men will need to switch up their masturbation habits in order to fully enjoy the touch, mouth, anus and/or vagina of a partner again. Cutting back or taking a one-month break from the practice, then reintroducing the penis to gentler sensations, can be immensely helpful. A couple might also experiment with different positions. If a man can only get off on the pressure applied by a hand or mouth, a partner can squeeze her legs together during sex to create a tighter canal for the man, for example.

Finally, if a substance is behind delayed ejaculation, men may work with their doctors to change medications; they may also need to work on their drinking habit if one is present.
Men can give their penises well-rounded attention by applying a penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) daily. Look for acetyl L-carnitine on the ingredient list, which helps protect penile nerves, keeping sensitivity levels high.

Delayed Ejaculation – In Search of the Elusive O

For many men, a big concern when it comes to sex is not being able to last long enough to fully enjoy the range of sensation that an intimate encounter has to offer; men may also worry that they come too soon to give their partners pleasure. On the other hand, there are plenty of men who have the opposite problem. While they may have no difficulty getting it up, taking things to the final moment of release can last for an inordinate amount of time, leaving both partners frustrated.

Rather than having a bored partner who spends more than half of a lovemaking session counting the cracks in the ceiling and wishing he would get there already, men who have issues with delayed ejaculation can overcome the problem by understanding the cause. With the right approach to self-care and penis health, men may find themselves getting over the top with much less effort, leaving their partners panting for more instead of wishing they would get it over with already.

Symptoms of delayed ejaculation
Men who have delayed ejaculation problems may need thirty minutes or longer to reach climax; some men may be unable to do so at all. In some men, this condition is lifelong; in other words, it has been present since birth. In other men, the condition develops over time; this is known as acquired delayed ejaculation.

According to mayoclinic.com, delayed ejaculation can be generalized – meaning that it happens all the time. On the other hand, it may be situational; i.e., it only occurs with certain partners, in a particular situation, or with certain techniques. For instance, some men may not be able to come during oral or vaginal sex but have no problem with manual stimulation.

Common causes and how to deal with them
Causes of delayed ejaculation may be physical, emotional or both. Some of the most prevalent physical causes include surgery, damage to the pelvic nerves, congenital (birth) defects, loss of penis sensation, or reactions to certain medications.

Emotional factors are complex and sometimes difficult to pin down, but they can stem from childhood issues related to sex – guilt, shaming, fear of being caught in the act – or from intimacy issues. Mood disorders such as depression and anxiety can also lead to delayed ejaculation problems.

Dealing with the inability to come within a reasonable amount of time can require patience, practice and an understanding partner. In some cases, treating an underlying health issue such as diabetes can do the trick, whereas in other instances, counseling and/or medication therapies may be required to deal with emotional or psychological barriers.

Experimenting with different techniques and positions may also heighten sensitivity in some men, decreasing the time needed to reach the ‘O’ moment and making the act more pleasurable.

Penis care and feeding
In order to function at its best and experience all that sexual stimulation has to offer, the penis should be the picture of health. Smooth, supple penis skin is not only more attractive to a potential partner; it is generally more responsive. To achieve the optimum healthy, youthful condition that can lead to the best possible sex, regular attention to self-care is needed.

Washing at least once a day is recommended in order to remove any built-up grime, sweat, dead skin cells and body fluids, with special focus on the area under the foreskin. Using a condom may not be ideal for the main who already feels like his sensitivity is not up to par, but disease prevention is most important. Men who have sensitivity problems may consider purchasing thinner, sensation-enhancing condoms for better results.  common among uncircumcised men.

In addition, applying a high-quality penis nutrient cream  (most health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil) once or twice per day can provide the skin of the penis with the vital nourishment that is needed to keep the penis healthy, supply and responsive to touch.

Delayed Ejaculation - What It Is, Why It Happens, And How To Help

Delayed ejaculation refers to a condition which occurs when men are consistently unable to ejaculate with sexual stimulation or require extended periods of stimulation to reach climax. While this disorder is relatively uncommon - only about 1-4% of men are affected - it can cause loss of enjoyment in sex, as well as affecting self-esteem and in some cases, erectile function.

The causes and symptoms of delayed ejaculation and the role of penis vitamins and minerals in penis health are described in the following article.

How ejaculation works
Ejaculation, or the release of semen from the body, is an involuntary response to sexual stimulation. Ejaculation actually occurs in two stages - first, sperm and other fluids are combined in the urethra; and second, the seminal fluid is expelled from the urethra through a series of muscular contractions. This process is usually accompanied by feelings of sexual pleasure.

What is delayed ejaculation?
For most men, it takes an average of four minutes of intercourse or manual stimulation to achieve an orgasm. Delayed ejaculation is diagnosed when a man requires an extended period of time - 45 minutes or more - to ejaculate, or cannot ejaculate through either of these activities.

What causes delayed ejaculation?
Ejaculation is a complex bodily function involving the nervous system, the vascular system (or blood vessels) and even the emotions. When one of these is not working correctly, difficulties with erectile function or ejaculation may occur. From a physiological perspective, several factors can affect ejaculation:

• Loss of penis sensitivity due to circulatory problems, toughened penis skin, or peripheral damage of the erogenous nerve tissue;
• Stroke;
• Spinal cord injury;
• Medications;
• Smoking;
• Drug or alcohol use.

On the other hand, psychological issues can also cause delayed ejaculation. Men who were subject to a strict religious upbringing or were exposed to trauma (especially sexual trauma) may have issues with achieving orgasm. Stress and anxiety may also play a role in inhibiting ejaculation, as well as emotional problems such as anger at a partner, relationship problems, fear of getting a woman pregnant, or lack of physical or emotional attraction to a sexual partner.

Finally, men who practice unusual masturbation habits, masturbate frequently (for instance, several times per day) or who rely on the same position or masturbation technique all the time may have difficulty with ejaculation.

What are the options for treatment?
Treating delayed ejaculation depends on the underlying cause. Men who are experiencing ejaculation problems due to psychological issues may benefit from learning stress management techniques or from counseling; sex therapy is often beneficial in cases of delayed ejaculation. Physical causes of delayed ejaculation are generally resolved by treating the related health issue. Quitting smoking, limiting alcohol intake, maintaining a healthy body weight and eating a healthy diet are important in this respect. Men who are taking medications such as antidepressants which may impair the ability to ejaculate may benefit from a change in medication.

There are also several steps men can take to address problems with penis sensitivity:

• Wear loose, non-binding clothing to increase circulation;
• Keep the penis skin well-moisturized to retain its natural self-lubricating properties and prevent drying and toughening of the skin;
• Support penile nerve health with nutrients that provide neural support, such as vitamin B5 and acetyl-L-carnitine (an essential amino acid);
• Prevent infections that may affect the integrity of the skin through use of natural antibacterials such as vitamin A;
• Support circulatory health by maintaining a healthy body weight and adding vitamin C (an important component of circulatory tissue) to the penis care regimen.

Where to find the right combination of nutrients for penis health
In order to get the most out of penis vitamins and minerals, a specialized penis health formula (most health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) which is applied directly to the penis skin may help to provide the right combination of nutrients, moisturizers and disease-fighting antioxidants where they are needed most.

Delayed Ejaculation - The Third Most Common Sexual Dysfunction

If it takes you forever to orgasm during sex, you may have delayed ejaculation. Delayed ejaculation, also known as retarded ejaculation, a type of sexual dysfunction in men that occurs in approximately 7% of the population, and doctors say it is becoming more and more common. For men who have experienced premature ejaculation, this "problem" of delayed ejaculation may sound like a dream come true. But in actual fact delayed ejaculation, when it becomes chronic, can cause tension, anxiety, relationship problems, and just make sex feel like a lot of work. Vitamins and minerals, herbs, hypnosis, counseling and medications are among some of the options available to men who want to combat this issue. Go to your doctor to rule out any underlying problems first.

Causes

Often men with ejaculatory problems have no problems attaining or maintaining erections -- quite the opposite. However, in these cases orgasm only occurs after a long period of time, if at all. For some men this condition is a lifelong problem, while for others it can begin quite out of the blue. Possible causes of delayed ejaculation include prostate disease, infections, male hormone imbalances, prescription medications, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, nerve damage, spinal cord damage, multiple sclerosis, dry or rough skin, and physical trauma to the local genital region. According to Michael A. Perelman, Ph.D., in a feature article published online by The International Society for Sexual Medicine, men suffering from delayed ejaculation, unrelated to a disease or medical condition, often have fears around impregnating their partners, experience guilt or anxiety over masturbation, and are often from a orthodox/fundamentalist religion background.

Treatment

When experiencing delayed ejaculation, it is common for men to seek out medications such as PDE-5 inhibitors or herbal sex pills. These options might help to restore a lost erection, but men with delayed reactions may experience mixed results. In some cases an erection is maintained, but orgasm is just as difficult to attain. The Mayo Clinic recommends several medications as possible treatments for delayed ejaculation, but only in combination with treating the root cause -- be it the emotional and psychological tensions around sex, or a physical condition that may be at the root of the delayed ejaculation. Before a man self-medicates for his condition, the best option is to go see the doctor and get tested -- blood tests, urine tests and physical examinations will rule out possible physical causes that may be easily remedied.

Alternative medicines

There are alternative medicines that may help with delayed ejaculation, but it always depends on what is causing the problem in the first place. Many vitamins and supplements such as Kava (Piper methysticum), B-Complex and magnesium are known to reduce anxiety and stress. Some supplements and nutrients modulate male hormones, such as Ginseng (Panax ginseng), Nettle root (Urtica dioica), vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin B5, zinc and whey protein. These may be beneficial for libido, arousal and firmness. The A.D.A.M. Medical Encyclopedia suggests that hypnosis may also be a useful adjunctive treatment option for men suffering from delayed ejaculation. But one word of warning: a study published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine in 2007 suggests that high serotonin and oxytocin levels may be involved in the inhibition of orgasm and ejaculation. While more research in this area is required, some herbs are thought to affect serotonin and oxytocin levels -- in particular St John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum), Rhodiola (Rhodiola rosea) and Griffonia Bean (Griffonia simplicifolia). Use these herbs and supplements containing these herbs with caution.

Topical treatments

Using topical products on the penis can have a range of benefits for men with delayed ejaculation. Specialist formulas (most professionals recommend Man1Man Oil) contain a range of beneficial nutrients and oils that support healthy circulation and nerve function. Vitamin C, E and B5 support testosterone production and effect nitric oxide (NO) levels for healthy erections. Alpha-lipoic acid is another active ingredient that has been well-researched for its ability to support nerve function and regenerate damaged nerves. Apply penis health crèmes as directed to improve penis sensitivity -- a completely natural approach to increase arousal, pleasure and promote a healthy male orgasm.
