The Chafed Penis and Jogging: Finding Relief for the Run

The coming of autumn weather inspires many men to take up jogging, which is an excellent way to stay active and healthy. Unfortunately, as with any form of exercise, jogging also comes with some potential side effects - including the dreaded chafed penis. Those men that are taking up (or continuing with) a jogging or running program need to exercise proper penis care in order to deal with chafing and make their physical activity experience more enjoyable.

Prevention

There are several steps a man can take to help prevent a chafed penis while jogging.

- Drink up. It's always important to stay hydrated when exercising, for many reasons. When running, dehydration can add to the likelihood of chafing all over the body, including the penis. Therefore, it's important to drink plenty of water before, during and after a lengthy jog.

- Avoid commando style. Some running clothes are designed to be worn without underwear, but for the casual runner who just wears a pair of plain old gym shorts, going commando should not be considered an option. When the penis is left without the protection provided by underwear, it rubs against the much rougher fabric of the gym shorts - a guaranteed path to chafing.

- Think supporter. Even better than wearing briefs or boxers is to don an athletic supporter for the outing. This not only provides protection from the penis rubbing against the outerwear, it also helps keep the member and testicles in place during the run. With less flopping around, there's less rubbing and less chance of chafing. While the traditional cotton jock is an option, many men would do better with a supporter made out of a synthetic material. Cotton absorbs sweat and passes it on to the penis. This can add to the likelihood of chafing. Whatever material one chooses, the jock needs to be washed (and allowed to dry completely) after each use.

- Choose shorts carefully. Loose clothing, such as gym shorts, may not be the best option if one wants to prevent chafing. Tighter, snugger-fitting shorts cause less chafing in general. Investigate whether compression or bike shorts, or some other form of lycra-based covering, may be better. However, be sure that the fit is not TOO tight, as this can cause circulation problems.

Chafing care

Unfortunately, even taking precautions is no guarantee that chafing will not occur. When it does, it should be attended to promptly.

Ideally, a man wants to "air out" his package. If a man has the option of being naked for an extended period of time, he should take advantage of it. Whether he can go bare or not, he also needs to properly clean the area with a gentle cleanser. Care needs to be taken when drying to ensure that a rough towel or an aggressive rubbing doesn't produce further irritation to the penis.

Of primary importance with a chafed penis (whether from jogging or another cause) is to apply a quality penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) promptly. Be sure to select a crème that includes a combination of a high-end emollient (such as Shea butter) and a powerful hydrator (such as vitamin E); this combination helps to provide the all-important moisturize that soothes and heals dry, chafed skin. Keeping the penis properly moisturized is key during the healing process. It's also advisable to use a crème with vitamin A, in order to take advantage of that vitamin's anti-bacterial properties. Many joggers develop an unpleasant aroma in the crotch area due to sweat-related bacteria. Vitamin A is excellent at helping to fight the bacteria that produces that persistent, unwanted odor. Keeping the penis skin in good health through the use of a crème like Man1 Man Oil makes jogging more enjoyable and comfortable.

Penis Sensitivity: The Role of Vitamins

The degree to which a man enjoys a sexual experience is directly related to the amount of penis sensitivity he has. When the penis is capable of registering intense sensation, a man's sexual activities are as fulfilling as can be. But when there is a dullness or deadening in the manhood, sex is considerably less rewarding. Ensuring good penis health, which includes delivering the proper vitamins to the member, plays a significant role in maintaining penis sensitivity.

Loss of penis sensitivity

To a teen-aged male, it may seem incomprehensible that his penis could ever experience less than intense sensations. The slightest touch, especially on an erect penis, sends shivers of delight throughout the body during adolescence.

And that's understandable. After all, the nerve endings in the penis are highly sensitive and primed to respond. But they may not always stay that way.

Loss of penis sensitivity can occur for a number of reasons, including major physical trauma. However, the most common reason for a penis just not feeling as good as it used to is simple rough handling, often occurring over a fairly long period of time.

For example, many men employ a "death grip" on their penis while masturbating - an overly tight grasp. Some men engage in partner sex without proper lubrication. Both of these situations may cause a loss of sensation. So can frequently "going commando" - deciding not to wear underwear, leaving the penis to rub against rough fabrics like denim.

Skin and cells

In all of these situations, friction and wear and tear go to work on the penis (and especially the ultra-sensitive nerves in the glans). Two things generally happen. First, the excess friction causes tiny, thin layers of scar tissue to start to build up. Over time, these layers form a "buffer" between the nerve endings and the source of stimulation, causing de-sensitization. In addition, the nerves themselves experience some damage which prevents them from operating at maximum efficiency.

Vitamins

Clearly, it's important that a man takes sensible steps to prevent this loss of sensation, such as using sufficient lubrication during sexual activities and protecting the penis from excess exposure to rough fabrics and surfaces. But it also pays to make sure that the penis is getting its proper share of vitamins.

In particular, the penis can benefit from the following:

- Vitamin E. Keeping the penis skin well moisturized helps to prevent damage from excess friction; in addition, dehydration itself can lead to toughening of the skin, which affects penis sensitivity. Vitamin E is one of Nature's most effective moisturizing agents.

- Vitamin D. Like vitamin E, vitamin D aids in natural skin hydration. In addition, vitamin D possesses antioxidant capabilities which help to strengthen penile cell metabolism and maintain the health of cells, making them hardier and less prone to damage.

- Vitamin C. Sensitivity is also related to the proper flow of blood to the penis. Vitamin C works to keep blood vessels healthy, which in turn aids in improved delivery of blood to the manhood.

Delivery of vitamins

A man concerned about penis sensitivity should make sure he gets the above vitamins via the regular use of a top-notch penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil). Why a crème? Because of its topical application, it can deliver those vitamins directly to the penis itself. But there's another reason: A really good crème will include other important ingredients that can interact with those vitamins for a synergistic health effect. For example, a crème that contains acetyl L-carnitine and L-arginine "doubles up" the crème's penis sensitivity power. Acetyl L-carnitine is a neuroprotective ingredient that helps preserve nerve sensitivity. And L-arginine is an enzyme which is involved in the creation of nitric oxide, which, like vitamin C, helps improve blood flow to the penis. So for the man interested in keeping his penis well-sensitized, a crème like Man1 Man Oil is best.

Erect Penis Peril: The Dangers of Priapism

Because of all the joys that are associated with an erect penis, many a man has found himself wishing he could stay in that state permanently. (Indeed, during adolescence it sometimes seems that this actually IS the case.) But in fact, priapism, a prolonged erection, can be a serious condition. Exercising adequate penis care can't prevent priapism, but knowing about this condition and what to do if it does occur are important to ensure the health of a man's favorite body part.

Priapism vs. a strong erect penis

So what's the difference between priapism and having an erect penis for a marathon sex session? Basically, even among men who engage in sex for hours on end, the firmness of the erection varies; indeed, most likely a man will go relatively "soft" for some periods even when he continues to engage sexually for an extended period of time.

With priapism, however, the penis remains firmly erect for four hours or more without ever "deflating"- and often this occurs not when a man is sexually active but is simply in a "neutral" state.
That may sound like a "so what?" kind of situation - after all, guys are used to getting boners that may cause some discomfort but are not really a pain. With priapism, however, there can be genuine pain associated with it. Many men who have experienced it say that the pain can become intense and nearly unbearable - and it's not a pain that can be relieved by simply masturbating, as the organ continues to remain erect.

Damage

Of even more concern than the discomfort is the fact that episodes of priapism can cause substantial damage. Penis tissue, blood vessels and circulation can all be dangerously impacted. In some cases, if left untreated, it can lead to chronic or permanent erectile dysfunction or even to gangrenous infection.

Cause and treatment

Priapism occurs when blood flows into the penis and cannot escape. There are several situations which can cause this to occur, including blockage due to sickling (in a man with sickle cell anemia), a ruptured penile artery, penile injury, medication side effects (often associated with drugs intended to treat erectile issues) and trauma to the spinal cord.

Treatment varies depending on the underlying cause, but it should always be handled by a doctor. Sometimes nothing more is needed than careful application of ice packs; in other cases, the doctor may suggest removal of excess blood via a needle, application of a drug which can help to alleviate the cause of the blockage or other means. In some cases, surgery may be required.

Priapism is considered a fairly rare disorder; a 2001 study from the Netherlands found an incidence rate of 5 cases in the 145,000 men in the study. It is more likely to occur in men between the ages of 20 and 50; in men with sickle cell disease, it is most likely to occur between ages 19 and 21.
However, it can occur in men of any age.

Although many men may feel embarrassed about receiving treatment for what they think of as merely an aggressively erect penis, it's important to receive professional treatment for priapism. It's also important to maintain overall penis health so that the organ is in its best possible condition. Using a first-class penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) can help maintain that penile fitness. Look for a crème that includes L-arginine, an enzyme which aids nitric oxide production and thereby helps open blood vessels. Also key: a crème with alpha lipoic acid, a potent antioxidant which helps offset harmful oxidative processes that prematurely age penis cells.

Itchy Penis Relief: Involving Ones Partner in Treatment

An itchy penis is something that all men experience at some point or another. When that itch is chronic, however, it can be inconvenient and embarrassing - for both a man and his partner, who doesn't like to see him constantly tugging at his crotch in public. (No matter how much a guy tries to be inconspicuous about scratching the penis, he's bound to be caught occasionally - and when he has a chronic itchy penis, he's bound to be caught more often.) Tending to penis itch requires proper penis care, of course - and some men may want to consider including their partner in that caring process.

Cause may affect participation

There are many causes of penis itch, and some causes may discourage a partner from wanting to help alleviate the issue on an up-close and personal level. For example, when pubic lice are present, it's not likely that a partner will want to get involved.

However, when a simple, benign dermatological issue or other cause results in the itch, a partner might be called upon to help in a way that can create a new sexual bonding.

Shave it.

Some men find that the presence of pubic hair is responsible for their itchiness, especially during the summer. The heat factor in the crotch is naturally high; a thick bush of hair just exacerbates this. Trimming or completely shaving the area may decrease the heat and sweat and subsequently decrease the itch factor.
If that is the case, a partner may be keen to help with the shaving. A man may find that he can simply sit (or lie) back and let his partner moisten, caress and shave his penis, testicles and surrounding area - an experience that can be highly erotic for both partners.

Rub it in.

A major cause of an itchy penis is dry skin. While it would seem that the sweat that often accumulates in the area would keep the skin moist, that's not the case. The heat and sweat actually deplete the natural body oils that keep the penis skin moist. Washing with a harsh soap or cleanser can also have this effect, adding to the problem.

As millions of women know, applying crèmes with natural moisturizers can help to "lock in" vital body oils. A man can apply an appropriate penis health crème himself, but it's more fun to let one's partner do this.
To properly apply the crème, the skin needs to first be moist. Any man would enjoy the sensation of his partner applying nice warm water to his penis, then lightly tapping it dry with a very soft washcloth or towel. Now properly prepared (and possibly a bit engorged), the penis is ready for the crème to be gently and lovingly rubbed in.

Reciprocate.

Of course, men whose partners are willing to take an active role in combatting penis itch need to be willing to return the favor. Perhaps she would benefit from a full body massage. Maybe the skin on parts of her body - the breasts, perhaps? - could use some tender moisturizing attention as well. Or maybe she's experiencing a vaginal itch that needs some special handling. A man might be surprised at how enjoyable it can be to help a partner resolve such issues.

Taking care of an itchy penis, whether with the aid of a partner or by himself, will be easier if a man has access to a superior penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil). What is needed is a crème with a combination of potent natural hydrators, such as Shea butter and vitamin E. Applying these moisturizing ingredients can keep the penis skin moist and supple, and can protect its all-important elasticity. The best crème will also include a powerful antioxidant like alpha lipoic acid, which can help prevent the oxidative stress in penis cells that can make the organ look wrinkled, cracked and aged - which in turn can add to the itchiness quotient. Taking care of the member through the regular use a crème like Man1 Man Oil should be a priority for all men.

Sex Tips: Non-Physical Stimulation for Hotter Action

Sexual stimulation can take place on a number of fronts. Most people think immediately of touching the naughty bits here, but there are ways to spark arousal that don’t involve physical contact, ways that can greatly enhance desire and lead to hotter sex. Since sexual health is an important component of overall wellbeing, and maintaining sexual health requires keeping the activity fresh, a man can never acquire too many sex tips. The following indirect methods of stimulation will heighten the pleasure for both partners.

Through the ears

Music is a powerful tool for altering one’s mood, or that of a lover. Turning on the right song, or sometimes just the right genre, can get a person revved up. While it depends on the person in question and his or her musical tastes, things to try are bluesy rock (such as the Black Keys) or music with sexy lyrics (think "Let’s Get It On").

Through the nose

The sense of smell is a wonderful vehicle for eliciting moods and memories. Some tried-and-true scents are known for their ability to relax and even arouse - sandalwood, rose and lavender among them. If a partner wants to really invest in olfactory stimulation, he can track down a scent nostalgic of the first time he met his lover, or perhaps of the first time they made love. Was a candle burning? Was he wearing a certain fragrance? Recreate the moment.

Through the mind

A man may have heard that the brain is the largest erogenous zone, and there’s certainly some truth to that. Getting and keeping a lover in a sexy frame of mind can add a layer to sexual desire and enjoyment that one might be shocked by.

One way to engage the mind is through dirty talk. Telling a partner what one likes, what one wants to do and how one feels in the moment can greatly stimulate him or her, as can hearing such things from one’s lover. And this can be done long-distance as well, maintaining sexual attraction and connection when lovers are apart.

Another way to tantalize the brain is to draw on a partner’s fantasies. Couples can incorporate elements of fantasies into sex play. This can be done through dirty talk and/or the simulation of kinky scenarios like "public" sex; it may involve the incorporation of bondage, submission or other fetishes that send a person over the enjoyment edge.

Through the feelings

Most people can likely attest to the fact that sex with someone they know, like and trust is in many ways better - deeper and more meaningful. Still, when people have been together for some time, they may fall into a routine that grows stale. They can reinvigorate the great pleasure that can come from intimacy by remembering what excites them about the other as a person. This can be a shared interest - in which case getting fired up over a baseball game or delving into an intellectual topic may spark that fire. Or, they may appreciate something about one another that completely sets them apart, like an interest or skill that evades the other. Get invested in the other’s interests to keep the other interesting.

While men bolster their arsenal of stimulatory methods, they shouldn’t neglect to take proper care of the organ involved in the action when it comes time to get busy. Maintaining optimal penile health will ensure that a man’s member remains attractive to his partner while helping to promote proper function into old age. Using a penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) is beneficial in this area. Shea butter and vitamin E serve as potent natural moisturizers for smooth, supple skin, and acetyl L-carnitine helps prevent peripheral nerve damage from rough handling that can lead to decreased sensitivity over time. Keep the member radiant and functional with the assistance of Man1 Man Oil.

Sexual Fantasies: Not Just for Men

While men are familiar with their own sexual fantasies, they may not know much about their female partners’ mental tristes. Some men may assume, consciously or unconsciously, that most women don’t have sexual fantasies, as society pretends that sex is predominantly a male preoccupation. To the contrary, most women experience fantasies, and men would do well to become familiar with their partners’ in the interest of promoting greater sexual health and enjoyment. This will give them the opportunity to incorporate elements of a woman’s sexy thoughts into playtime, and possibly find some overlapping fantasies for both to revel in.
The following information comes from the results of a 2014 survey of over 1,500 women in Quebec. Note: Men should never assume a woman has a fantasy or think that she should have it. Getting to know one’s partner’s unique hot buttons is imperative. The following only offers some idea of what one might be in for.

Different locations

Location turns out to be a crucial aspect in women’s sexual fantasies - at least among those surveyed, with 86.4% reporting that location along with atmosphere are important in their fantasies, and 81.7 said they fantasize about sex in an "unusual" location (such as the office or a bathroom stall). A little over half - 57.3% -- fantasize about sex specifically in a public place, out in the open.

Now, it’s important to be cautious when selecting a location. Due to public indecency laws, consent morality and more practical concerns like losing one’s job, a couple can’t just have sex wherever they may want. Also keep in mind that the presence of a fantasy doesn’t mean a person actually wants to fulfill it. But a couple can find ways to engage these fantasies safely and ethically - for example, they may pretend they are in public and entertain some dirty talk about being watched, or they may find consenting individuals to watch them in the act or view a video of it. They could also engage in sex in a slightly less unusual, but still atypical, location, such as the kitchen instead of the bedroom.

Oral sex

While a man should certainly not assume all or even most women want to spend tons of time fellating men, the survey did show a high level of fantasy around providing oral sex, with 72.1% experiencing such fantasies. More - 78.5% - answered yes to the more broadly-framed "I have fantasized about taking part in fellatio/cunnilingus."

Men should ask women how they feel about providing oral. Some are fine with it, so long as it doesn’t take over sex, and/or it is reciprocated. Some are more enthusiastic about it, and may fantasize about performing it in certain positions, or with added kinky elements, such as having their hair pulled and heads directed if submission is their thing. Women with a dominant streak may prefer having complete control and participating in kinks like orgasm control and denial.

Masturbation

Many survey participants reported fantasizing about being masturbated by a partner (71.4%) and masturbating a partner (68.1%). This suggests that, for many women, manual play, both received and administered, is a desirable aspect of sexual activity.

Fortunately, it’s easy to incorporate! Masturbation, whether one-at-a-time or mutual, is a great way to pleasure one’s partner while learning more about his or her body. It can add a level of intimacy and pleasure to sex that may be lacking without it. So get those hands busy.

Men who are taking steps to improve their sex lives should, of course, not neglect the part of their body most affiliated with the act. Penile upkeep is imperative to keeping the member in peak form both aesthetically and functionally. Along with regular washing, frequent use and wearing protection, men can go the extra mile by incorporating a penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) into their care regimens. Keeping the manhood moisturized will protect it against chafing from friction and promote the maintenance of high sensitivity levels in the long run. Better penile health means better sex, and is worth the investment.

Is Penis Health Affected by Diabetes?

Diabetes is a growing public health concern around the world, and for men it can be a penis health concern as well. While it may seem counterintuitive that a disease characterized by its effect on blood sugar levels should impact the penis, this is indeed the case. Therefore, proper penis care involves taking steps to prevent diabetes or, when diabetes is present, managing this condition.

What is diabetes?

Diabetes refers to a condition in which the body has difficulty producing and/or using insulin, a hormone created by the pancreas. Insulin is very important because it helps to regulate how much sugar (called glucose) is in the blood. When blood sugar levels get too high, as is often the case with diabetes, there can be significant problems. Many complications - including heart disease and nerve damage - are associated with diabetes.

There are some diabetes complications which are specifically related to penis health. These include:

Erectile dysfunction.

Men with diabetes are much more likely to encounter erectile issues than are non-diabetic men. They are also more likely to run into this embarrassing problem at a younger age than non-diabetic men.

How does diabetes impact erectile function? First, one of the complications associated with diabetes is nerve damage. When the nerves are impacted, a person experiences a loss of sensation or a "de-sensitization" of the area. In some cases, this can be extreme. Since the sensitivity level of the nerves in the penis determines erectile response, a diminution of sensitivity due to nerve damage can make attaining and maintaining an erectile state more difficult.

Second, blood flow also plays a crucial role in successful erections. When the penis gets the signals that start the arousal process, they open the gates so that blood can rush in and fill the organ. Diabetes can have a negative impact on blood flow, and that can lead to a softening of the erectile process.

Retrograde ejaculation.

Some men with diabetes also experience retrograde ejaculation, a condition in which nerve damage causes the bladder neck muscle to malfunction, resulting in semen being sent into the bladder rather than into the urethra. (The semen is then expelled when the man urinates.) Retrograde ejaculation is not dangerous, but it does have an impact on men attempting to father a child - and it can have a dampening psychological effect on men due to the reduced amount of semen that is expelled during an ejaculation.

Yeast.

Yeast infections can be a bothersome issue for men, creating a situation in which the penis has visible rashes or splotches, is itchy and may "burn" somewhat when urinating. Because diabetes creates an increase in sugar, it facilitates a favorable breeding ground for yeast and the accompanying infections.

Treatment.

Diabetes requires professional diagnosis and recommendations for treatments. Although injections of insulin are required for many people with diabetes, others are able to largely manage the condition through lifestyle changes (more exercise, healthier eating, maintaining a proper weight, etc.).

Treating diabetes can help protect penis health, but it also helps to take additional steps to maintain overall manhood health. One excellent way of attaining this goal is via the daily use of a superior penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil). Of special importance is using a crème that can help support health areas likely to be impacted by diabetes. That means a crème that includes L-arginine, which boosts nitric oxide production; this in turn provides assistance in improving blood flow. The ideal crème should also include soothing moisturizers like Shea butter and vitamin E, which can play a role in reducing itchiness that may accompany yeast infections and rashes. Also look for acetyl L-carnitine, which promotes nerve health and the maintenance of sensitivity. None of these can treat diabetes itself, but such a crème can maintain the health of the organ so that it is better able to deal with possible complications.
