Impotence and Penis Care: What Men Must Know

It’s something that affects between 15 and 30 million men - and that’s in the United States alone. It can leave a man wondering if he’s good enough. It can frustrate not only the guy who has it, but the partners who want to enjoy time with him. It can leave him wondering just what’s wrong with him - beyond the obvious issue of not being able to get it up or keep it up. Impotence, also known as erectile dysfunction, is something that gets a lot of press, simply due to the sheer number of men who suffer from it. But is there anything about penis care that we need to know in order to bring down the number of men who are devastated by it?

What Can a Man Do About Impotence?

This much is certain: When it comes to penis care, knowledge is the gold standard for ensuring that everything works as it should. So without further ado, read on and get knowledgeable about the reasons why impotence might become an issue.

- Medical Conditions. Perhaps the most common cause of impotence is an underlying medical condition. Cardiovascular issues, diabetes, Parkinson’s disease and any number of other problems can lead to issues with blood flow, which can lead to problems keeping an erection. A doctor can document these issues and tell a man what to do to resolve them. Follow those instructions exactly, doing whatever it takes to get back to a good baseline of health. Impotence issues will often gradually go away as the body finds its equilibrium again.

- Medications. For many of the above-mentioned issues, medication can be a huge help. Other issues, such as mental illness, emotional upheaval or injury can warrant medication as well. The good news is that medications often work to treat the problem; the bad news is that some of those medications can lead to impotence. Though a man should never stop taking medication without a doctor’s approval, anything that seems to be causing impotence should be discussed. There might be another medication that doesn’t have such a terrible side effect.

- Emotional Issues. Sometimes emotional issues, such as depression or anxiety, can cause impotence. These can be long term or short term, depending upon the man and the situation. For instance, chronic depression has long been known to cause a lack of desire as well as erectile dysfunction. However, a short term issue might be a problem in a relationship that has a man feeling as though he doesn’t have a trustworthy partner - that can make it tough to keep things going. Either way, talking with a counselor can help get to the bottom of the problem.

- Physical Trauma. This is one of the rarer issues for impotence, but it certainly does exist. This might occur due to a short term issue, such as being hit by an errant baseball during a pickup game, or it might be due to something that will turn out to be long-term, such as scar tissue resulting from an injury. Physical trauma should always be evaluated by a physician, who can provide insights on how to possibly overcome the impotence issue or work with a man to figure out ways around it, such as using penis pumps or injectable medications to help him achieve and maintain an erection.

Maintaining Good Penis Care

A man who is suffering from impotence doesn’t have to give up and accept the condition. Seeing a doctor is the key. In addition, a man should always practice excellent penis care, which includes the use of a top-notch penis health creme (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which has been clinically proven safe and mild for skin). He should look specifically for a crème that includes vitamins that promote skin health and blood flow, such as alpha lipoic acid, vitamin E, and powerhouse vitamin C.

Impotence - How One Man Learned to Deal With It

Men often joke around about impotence. It's an easy thing to make fun of, and the right joke is almost certain to get a big laugh. But in reality, the inability to reach arousal is no laughing matter. In fact, it can be devastating for men, and those who are impacted might be desperate to find the right penis care methods to resolve the problem.

That's what happened to one man, who will be referred to in this article as Ben. He agreed to share his story in order to raise awareness about the seriousness of impotence, and the ways in which the problem can be handled.

A Physical Source

"I started having problems a few years ago, when I had a pretty serious back injury," Ben says. "I was in a lot of pain, so the whole idea of sex wasn't really all that appealing. But even when I started to feel better, I noticed that I just couldn't get things moving. I might be interested in having sex, but my body wasn’t really cooperating."

"When I went through some more tests, they found that I had damaged the nerves that go from the spinal cord to the penis," Ben says. "This wasn't a mental thing, so counseling wouldn't solve it, and it wasn't something that surgery could cure. I was told that I needed to learn how to adjust and live with the loss, since it probably wouldn't be coming back."

Mental Exercises

"When I first found out that I wouldn't be able to have sex with my wife, and I mean sex like we used to have, I felt really awful," says Ben. "I didn’t think I was much of a man anymore, and I couldn't figure out why she'd want to have anything to do with me, since I was so broken and worthless. All of those little thoughts went around and around in my head. It wasn't good."

"My wife is wonderful, though, and she encouraged me to talk to a therapist about all of this. We decided to go together. We talked about what had happened between us in the past, and what we needed to do in the future. We just cleared the air," Ben says. "It wasn't easy for me to talk about this stuff at all, but I think it was really important."

Physical Help

"While the therapy was really important, I also decided to start looking into physical aides that would allow me to make love to my wife. One of the tools I tried was a vacuum pump," Ben says. "It basically bypasses the nerves altogether, and when I used it, I saw pretty remarkable results. Sure, it takes the spontaneity out of sex, but I could actually have sex. So that part was great."

"But I also learned that sex isn't all about the thrusting," Ben says. "My wife and I have epic sex sessions now that have a lot to do with touching and oral play, and we both love that. It's something we didn't do a lot of before I got hurt, so that's been really great."

Ben also started using a penis vitamin crème. While these products can't repair nerve damage, they contain elements that can keep penile skin soft and sensitive, including:

  • Vitamin E
  • Alpha lipoic acid
  • Vitamin A
  • L-arginine

A quality penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) like with these ingredients might help skin to stay softer and just a little more supple, so a man can feel every little tingle and touch that comes his way. These products can also make the tool a bit nicer to look at, which might entice more partner interaction.

Obesity and Impotence – Understanding the Connection

In today’s world, there seems to be an ongoing conflict between the need to convince people of the dangers of obesity and the need to let everyone know that they are worthwhile and attractive no matter what. While it is true that a person’s worth is not based on their physical appearance, and body type is not an indicator of humanity, the hard truth is that being overweight is simply not healthy.

Among the negative effects of obesity, one of the most distressing for men is the issue of impotence. While not all men who have some extra padding have troubles in the bedroom, a great percentage of obese individuals do experience problems with erectile function. Understanding the connection and responding to the body’s needs with adequate self-care and attention to penis health can go a long way toward overcoming this problem.

Some of the negative effects of obesity on erectile health are described here.

Reduced cardiovascular function – Extra body weight puts a strain on the heart, and increased levels of body fat can also lead to problems like clogged arteries. These issues can lead to reduced heart function, which means that less blood is available when called on to fill the erectile chambers. This can result in loss of function, and long-term deprivation of an adequate supply of blood may even lead to tissue atrophy, meaning the penis essentially shrinks and becomes smaller.

Poor circulation – Excessive weight on the body also tends to compress the blood vessels, especially those leading to the lower extremities. Again, this reduces the blood flow that is needed to get things going in the erectile department, and low circulation can also lead to nerve damage and sensation loss.

Nerve damage – Men who are overweight have a much greater risk for developing type 2 diabetes, which has been shown to cause widespread damage of nerve tissue. Loss of nerve cells means loss of feeling, especially in the extremities, including the fingers, feet, and penis.

Lack of stamina – Having extra weight to haul around can diminish a man’s reserves of energy, and attempting to get acrobatic in the bedroom can result in falling flat. Physical exercise is key here – men who work out, even if they are a little on the heavy side, may find that their energy levels increase and that they are able to hold up their end of the deal in a physical encounter.

Reduced self-esteem – Psychology also plays a vital role in erectile function, and a man who doesn’t feel good about himself or who is anxious or depressed will more than likely encounter impotence issues. Losing weight, exercising and boosting one’s self-esteem can be tremendously effective.

Men who have more than the occasional problem with impotence should make it a point to see their doctor; some of the possible underlying conditions can cause numerous health problems that can seriously reduce a man’s quality of life. Addressing erectile dysfunction is never easy, but it can be a life-changing step that leads to greater satisfaction, lower stress levels, and an on-going sense of well-being.

A healthy penis for better erections
Men who have made the decision to improve their level of physical fitness are well on the way to improved erectile function and a more satisfying sex life. The next step is to ensure that the penis itself is ready for future encounters; a healthy penis is much  more able to respond to stimulation and provide satisfaction.

Good nutrition goes a long way toward keeping the skin, nerve cells and circulatory tissue of the penis is top working condition. Eating a healthy diet and drinking plenty of water can help to provide the vitamins, minerals and antioxidants needed for a responsive penis. To ensure that the penis is really getting all of the nourishment it needs, applying a high-quality penis nutrient cream  (most health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil) containing vitamins A, C, and E, which have powerful skin healing and tissue-building properties, can help to keep the skin smooth and supple.
