Aging Penis 101: How Older Men Can Improve and Maintain Penis Health

Studies show that fifty-two percent of men aged 40-70 have some sort of difficulty with erections. Add to that issues like Peyronie’s disease and just good ol’ wear-and-tear, and it’s easy to see why some older men may be kind of distracted with penis health worries. You can’t stop getting older, but a man can make good choices and lifestyle changes that not only preserve his sexual function but make his aging penis better in the long run. Let’s look at all the components of penis health, sexual health, and aging, from what causes issues to what keeps a penis vital and vigorous overtime.

Age is (Mostly) a State of Mind

Contrary to what the world may suggest, aging does not rob one of sexual desire and performance. Albeit, age does like to throw many a wrench into sexual plans. Sure, it's not the member of your teens and twenties, but there is still a lot of life in that little fella. The first step in bolstering penis health is getting the right mindset around it. If you believe it's time to shrivel up and kiss the sexual side of life, bye-bye, you're putting yourself further behind than you should. Repeat this mantra: There is no expiration date on my penis.

The Relationship Connection

There's nothing wrong with casual sex if that's your thing. However, it is a bit more challenging to pull off as a man hits his fifties and beyond. Why? Well, knowing there is a significant possibility something may not work as it used to can be a big hit for a man. It can damage his self-esteem, confidence, and lead to performance issues. One thing casual sex generally lacks is sexual vulnerability, which is more often (not always) part of a loving, committed relationship. It is that comfort in knowing the barometer of the union is deeper than lust, which can decrease the pressure to perform like Don Juan every time you hit the sheets. However, that's not to say there will be issues! Being with a partner may be more erotic, exciting, and fulfilling because you can venture deeper into pleasure and trying new things because of the connection and trust. It's a safe place that lets a man explore. The psychological and emotional aspects of penis health are often overlooked, but men that see that connection to the physical are better off for it.

Physical Tips to Up Penis Health

All the mental stuff aside, let’s get physical! Here are some great tips for naturally preserving libido and sexual function:

- Exercise at least 30 minutes each day

- Eat a healthy diet full of good fats, lean proteins, and a wide array of colors

- Maintain a healthy weight

- Properly deal with all existing conditions so that they don’t hinder your health overall and your sexual health specifically

- Stop smoking

- Practice moderation with alcohol

- Get plenty of sleep (this ensures you get those 3-4 sleep boners each night which keep the member working)

- Manage stress levels to reduce blood pressure and distraction

- Consider ED medications carefully and with a trusted physician if they are needed

- Have sex often - if you don’t use it, you may lose it (or just make it harder to get hard)

- Have erections, even if they don’t get used - simply flooding the penis will oxygenated blood invigorates the penile tissue, keeping it healthy

- Apply a penis health creme (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which has been clinically proven safe and mild for skin) daily to keep the delicate penile skin supple and elastic, as well as for its erection boosting properties and protection against nerve damage.

Creating a symphony of the mental, emotional, and physical aspects of penis health will not only make living and loving with an aging penis possible but extremely enjoyable as well.

Aging Penis Problems: 5 Issues That Happen With Age and How to Prevent Them

When it comes to aging, no part of the body is spared, the penis included. Thankfully, it usually doesn’t happen overnight. Changes start to manifest over time, and that’s good. How could that be good? Well, that incremental time can give a man a little reminder to take better care of his Johnson to keep it standing strong and tall into his golden years. Let’s talk about 5 penis problems that happen with age and how to prevent them.

Aging Penis Problem #1: Size

Let’s dive right in with one of the potentially more hot-button topics for men that seems to haunt them as soon as they realized their penis might be smaller or larger than another male’s: the size of one’s penis.

The hard truth is that yes, with age, the penis will shrink a bit due to decreases in blood flow and testosterone production. But the good news is that the loss is measured at about 1 centimeter to 1½ centimeters.

With age, many men carry more belly weight than they did in their youth. This makes the penis appear smaller, but great news, weight loss will uncover those lost inches. Lose weight and gain inches!

Aging Penis Problem #2: Reduced Urinary Function

Having a problem turning your stream on or off? Urinary issues, whether getting a flow going or the inability to stop it, are a direct result of prostate health. This is a penis problem that increases significantly with age. It affects men in their 40s around 20 percent, while 50 to 60 percent of males in their 60s experience this, and up to 90 percent of men over 70.

Aging Penis Problem #3: Sensitivity

As men age, testosterone levels drop. Testosterone maintains nervous tissue. Ipso facto, when testosterone decreases, so does sensitivity, making it harder to get to the "top of the mountain." When an erection is produced, it won’t be as hard as it was in a man’s prime years.

Aging Penis Problem #4: Color

When you look at your favorite leather armchair, the one you’ve had for 20 years, it’s common for its patina to change over time. It’s the same with your penis. Atherosclerosis, a common problem of aging, restricts blood flow, affecting the penis. When there is less blood, the penis looks lighter in color. This does nothing to impair function. Skin can also appear more mottled as a result of vigorous use over the years.

Aging Penis Problem #5: Erectile Dysfunction (ED)

Undoubtedly one of the best-known penis problems, ED shows up in around 5 percent of men in their 40s. By the time they’re 70, the number goes up to 15 percent. A variety of issues cause ED, be they biological in nature such as illness, psychologically inclined by issues such as stress and depression, and relationship-related if there’s a significant conflict between partners, or just a matter of lack of skill or trust between partners.

It may seem like an easy problem to fix, right? Just pop a little blue pill and BAM! Boner city! However, the best way to fix it starts with a visit to the doctor since they can best define the sort of treatment you need for your diagnosis.

Preventing Penis Problems

Benjamin Franklin said, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Well, good ol’ Benny knew what he was talking about. The best way to treat penis problems is by preventing them.

Here’s how to grow old gracefully with a penis:

- Keep at or get to a healthy weight.

- Exercise multiple times each week to tone the pelvic floor muscles. It can be as simple as walking or picking up a couple games of hoop to keep everything moving nicely.

- Do Kegels as often as possible to strengthen pelvic floor muscles.

- Avoid sitting all day! Take frequent breaks to take pressure off the prostate that sitting causes.

- Limit alcohol consumption.

- Ejaculate multiple times each week to "flush" out the area and keep infection and bacteria away.

- Use a penis health oil (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which has been clinically proven safe and mild for skin) daily to keep the penis strong and vital. This oil topically delivers penis health helpers like vitamins A, B, C, and D, as well as alpha lipoic acids, L-arginine, and L-carnitine. Get better blood flow, keep bacteria at bay, and keep your penis young for decades to come.

The Aging Penis and “Manopause”: What Every Man Needs to Know

As a man ages, he becomes more distinguished, right? The silver foxiness in him comes out, he knows what makes a scotch good, and he has perfected his business portfolio. However, with all of those obvious benefits, he can also expect a dip in testosterone, which can change the game a bit. It’s usually around the late 40s and early 50s that a man may experience some noticeable changes, and the previously young penis morphs into an aging penis. The aging penis has learned much in life, but now starts the long stroll down low-androgen road. And for some men, that means something like “menopause.”

Is Male Menopause Really a Thing?

Male menopause, also known as “manopause,” should actually be called andropause because it’s the hormone, androgen, that starts to dwindle, similar to the way estrogen does in women. However, women experience this in a very short period of time, kind of like that roller coaster that just drops suddenly. Men, on the other hand, have a slow, ambling decline that will subtly go on the rest of their lives. For the few men who do experience this decline rather quickly, an estimated two percent, they will experience andropause.

What Changes Can an Aging Penis Expect?

The notable elder statesman can expect some hurdles down low-androgen road, but with creativity and care, many of them can be maneuvered with remarkable grace and style.

1) Fatigue and Weakness – Men with low androgen reported unexplained fatigue and weakness more often than any other symptom. This can be little things like falling asleep while eating ice cream or larger things like no longer sweeping his woman up in his arms to carry her across the threshold of their bedroom for vigorous lovemaking. Which leads to…

2) “Not tonight, I’d like to read my new James Patterson novel” – With age, libido drops. It’s just the facts, Jack. For some men, it’s no biggie. However, for others, or for men in a relationship where it’s negatively impacting them, there are supplements that can help.

3) Loss of Energy – Again, the aging penis needs some rest. He’s not retired, but he’s spending more time in his hammock than sinking holes on the golf course.

4) Loss of Muscle Mass – When testosterone production declines, men can experience diminishing muscle mass. This also leads them to feel weaker (see #1). Good news is, there’s a multi–billion-dollar fitness industry that can help. To counteract male menopause, add more strength training and protein to a diet to pump up those muscles.

5) Singing the Blues – It’s more than just singing along to a little BB King or Muddy Waters. Depression can be highly influenced by the hormones, so when androgen dips, a man’s mood may as well. If that’s the case, see a doctor or mental health professional for help.

6) Erectile Dysfunction – This may be the aging penis’s worst nightmare – early retirement. Erectile dysfunction, or ED, is the inability to maintain a firm erection during intercourse or intimate activities. There are many ways to address ED, from western medication to eastern therapies. See a health practitioner to see which is best for you.

How to Care for the Aging Penis

As a result of experiencing male menopause, a man may experience a lot of physical, emotional, and sexual changes. Seeing a therapist or a trusted friend to talk is a good way to keep things in line and to guarantee it doesn’t destructively affect self-worth or relationships.

Things that help curb the symptoms of menopause include getting adequate, restful sleep, eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, participating in stress management techniques, and having a strong support circle. Self-care should be top of mind for men experiencing symptoms of male menopause.

Men with an aging penis going through male menopause may want to try a specially formulated penis health creme (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which has been clinically proven safe and mild for skin) to improve penis health and function. These specials creams are made explicitly for the penis and contain vitamins such as A, B, D, and E, which moisturize, strengthen, and stop free radicals that cause premature aging. A product that also contains vitamin C should be used, as it as it helps blood flow to the penis, creating strong, very distinguished, erections.

The Aging Penis: What to Expect and How to Deal

As lines crease the eyes and waistlines expand, the penis too gets old. It’s not often talked about in polite circles but what happens when the penis ages. Sure, everyone talks about erectile dysfunction; it’s hard to ignore with so many commercials selling various medications to keep the soldier at attention. But what else happens when the young penis becomes an old penis. Here are a few things a man can expect as he grows old with his favorite appendage.

#1: Go with the Curve

A life well-lived can cause a penis to branch off in new directions, so to speak. A less pronounced curve (usually under 10 percent) is nothing to worry about. However, if a curve is in the 20 to 30 percent arena, a man should head to this urologist to get checked for Peyronie’s Disease (PD). PD can be quite uncomfortable, causing men pain when urinating or having sex. PD affects about one in every four men, mostly over the age of 40. Treatment can include a wide range of things from Botox injections to oral medications to shock wave therapy. Not all men with PD experience erectile dysfunction, but it is commonly associated with the disease.

#2: Erectile Dysfunction

Almost 15 percent of men have erectile dysfunction by age 70. It can happen at any age, but with seniors, lack of blood flow to the penis is the major problem. While modern society would say to just pop a pill, men should really pay attention to and remedy the underlying physical causes first. Many times, lifestyle changes such a diet, exercise, and stress management can remedy the issue and also increase overall wellness.

#3: The Firehose Falls to a Trickle

An aging penis commonly has one of two issues – urinating with a powerful, healthy stream or being able to suspend urination until in the bathroom. Both issues interestingly originate in the prostate. See a physician to ensure its just old age and not something more serious. Then try to make a few holistic additions to the routine such as ejaculating several times per week and performing male Kegel exercises. Some men also find that zinc and selenium supplements help clean out the prostate and keep it young.

#4: An Old Penis “Toughens Up”

No longer a penis that gets hard when the wind blows past it, an aging penis has been there and done that. Also, testosterone levels drop with age, further decreasing penile sensitivity. But there is a silver lining – like most muscles, if you don’t use it, you lose it. The penis is no different. Try to have an erection every day, even it goes unused. This keeps the man muscle primed so when he’s needed, he’ll be ready.

#5: Minor Shrinkage for the Major General

A man typically won’t lose more than a centimeter of pure penis over his lifetime. However, men often feel they are losing length because of the belly that now seems to loom skyward of their lap. This is an easy fix. Start a sit-up challenge and firm up the area. They say for every 20 pounds of belly fat lost, a man regains a half-inch of length back in his penis.

While aging is a natural thing and can’t be stopped (at least not yet), there are many ways to keep an aging penis youthful. One of the best ways is to maintain a daily penile hygiene routine which involves a thorough cleaning and ample massage with a hydrating balm. Use a specially formulated penis health creme (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which has been clinically proven safe and mild for skin) to get maximum results. Look for creams with a natural base, like Shea butter, and contain vitamins and amino acids like vitamins A through E and l-carnitine and l-arginine. A crème like this will keep the penis supple, assist in cell turnover, protect against peripheral nerve damage, and enhance sensitivity for decades down the road.

The Aging Penis and its Impact on Sexual Health

When a guy is in his prime of life, it’s hard to even imagine that a day could come when his interest in sex might have died down. Young guys feel "up and at ‘em" on what seems like a 24-hour-a-day basis. But what about when they get older? Society’s perception of older men tends to be one of guys who have much less sexual desire than they used to; worse, the stereotype is that even when they do feet hot and bothered, they often can’t attain the erectile status that they need to satisfy the desire. But is there a basis for this view? Can keeping an eye on proper care have an impact on a man’s aging penis?

Research

A 2009 article from the Journal of Sex Research provides a good starting point for looking into this issue. The article states that "biological factors have an indisputable effect on sexual activity among the elderly, but they do not directly determine it." Yes, aging does have a direct impact on the physical functioning of the male sexual apparatus, and other indirect health factors, such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes, which may increase in prevalence among an aging population, can also play a big role.

With information drawn from two national sex surveys from Finland in the 1990s, the study found that aging men had more sex than aging women and that sexual activity among aging men depended largely on an individual’s sexual self-esteem, good health and an active sexual history. In other words, those who took care of themselves physically, had a good opinion of their general sexual ability and had been sexually active earlier in life generally continued to be more sexually active later in life.

More recent research

A 2016 study ("Sexual Quality of Life and Aging: A Prospective Study of a Nationally Representative Sample") looked at this perceived problem and came up with a different point of view. Analyzing data from more than 6200 men and women from the Midlife in the United State study, the scientists sought to include aging with such sexual factors as frequency, number of sexual partners, etc. When incorporating all of these factors, aging went from being negatively correlated with sexual quality of life to being positively correlated with it. It was felt that the sexual quality of life of older adults (both male and female) was affected more by the quality rather than the quantity of sexual activity. In other words, aging brought with it a kind of sexual wisdom in which sexual satisfaction had a changing definition for the participants.

More recently, a 2018 article looked at the sex lives of elderly men and women in Europe. "Seventy-Five Years Old and Still Going Strong: Stability and Change in Sexual Interest and Sexual Enjoyment in Elderly Men and Women Across Europe" examined about 3800 people in Denmark, Norway, Belgium and Portugal. It concluded that "good health, an active sex life throughout the lifespan, direction of relationship, and feeling emotionally close to partner during sex" were the major factors for sexual satisfaction among the aging set.

All these studies indicate that, while there may be some changes as one ages, it is quite possible to have a satisfying sex life in the later years.

One common factor is the state of one’s penis health, so men should really consistently make use of a top drawer penis health creme (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin). The most sought-after cremes will include a wide range of healthy, beneficial vitamins, including A, B5, C, D and E, the topical application of which can more directly target the penis. Also desirable in a crème is L-arginine, which helps boost nitric oxide production and thereby aids in keeping penile blood vessels open for increased blood volume.

Aging Penis Defense - Maintaining a Youthful Manhood

Signs of aging are inevitable, but a loss of sensation does not have to be. No man can slow down the hands of time, but he can care for himself in such a way that slows or even reverses some of the damage that can result in an aging penis. If left uncared for, the manhood can slowly enter into a state of disrepair, in which peripheral nerve damage causes a marked decrease in sensitivity. Learn how to naturally combat the aging process and maintain a youthful penis for many years to come.

How does the penis age?

Decrease in sensitivity: Over time, the penis endures a lot of rough handling from sex and masturbation alike. Even men, who take a more gentle approach to their love life, experience a decrease in sensitivity and responsiveness over the years. Peripheral nerve damage can occur over the course of the years from normal sexual activity. This gradual nerve damage adds up to a big problem, as it leads to a decrease in sensitivity, which can make achieving an erection and reaching orgasm increasingly difficult.

Decrease in circulation: As a man ages, there is a natural decrease in circulation which reduces blood flow to the extremities. This decrease in blood flow may be caused by cardiovascular disease, damage to the tiny blood vessels, high blood pressure, or even a below the belt trauma. It is no secret that blood is a key component to a firm erection, so as that blood flow wanes, so too does the quality of the erection.

Curvature: As a man and his penis age, the chances for the development of a curvature in the penis increases. As the penis endures a lifetime of wear and tear, the penile tissue can become damaged from overly athletic or aggressive sex and even masturbation. This damage slowly develops into plaque and scar tissue, which shortens the penis tissue and causes a curve to one direction or another.

Wrinkling: Given the fact that the rest of the skin is susceptible to wrinkling, it should be no big surprise that the penis can wrinkle as well. As the skin naturally loses collagen and elasticity, wrinkled and saggy skin, sadly, takes its place.

Keeping the penis youthful
Just because a man is aging, does not mean he cannot age gracefully. Several natural ingredients can help slow the aging process down and keep the penis youthful and healthy.

Acetyl L Carnitine - Is highly touted for its neuroprotective properties, in fact, it protects the penis from peripheral nerve damage that can lead to a loss of sensitivity over time.

Alpha Lipoic Acid - When combined with Acetyl L Carnitine, the powers of alpha lipoic acid are increased for even greater benefit. In terms of penis health, alpha lipoic acid is an antioxidant that helps fight the aging process by crushing free radicals in the body and keeping penile cells healthy. It also works to prevent premature aging of the penis cells and stave off the dreaded penis wrinkles.

L-Arginine - Is an important enzyme that actually improves the health of the tiny blood vessels in the penis and helps them to expand and allow for a greater blood flow. This important ingredient combats loss of circulation and a flaccid penis. By improving circulation and oxygenation, L-Arginine also helps to prevent the buildup of scar tissue, which can lead to penis curvature.

All-natural Prevention and Treatment
When it comes to the penis, one can never be too careful. Prevention is key; that is why using a daily penis vitamin creme that combines penis specific ingredients can help keep the penis healthy and youthful (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil). All natural penis health ingredients can help slow the natural aging process, and even reverse some of the signs of premature aging. Simply apply the lotion daily and enjoy a healthier penis.

Penis Sensitivity Can Decline With Age - What to Do to Keep It Young

Penis sensitivity can vary significantly from one man to the next; the touch that drives one man over the brink may cause another man to become only mildly aroused, and a third man to merely lift an eyebrow in anticipation. What remains constant, however, is that the aging penis does indeed run the risk of losing some sensation over the years. Men interested in maintaining their level of pleasurable sensations may wish to know more about this issue, as well as promoting overall penis health.

What's the damage?
Scientists know that penis sensitivity definitely decreases with age. What they don't really know is how much.

Why is there this problem in determining exactly how much sensation is lost? Basically, it's because there has not been one constant method of applying penis stimulation and measuring the results. For example, one researcher may measure sensitivity within the whole shaft, while another may focus specifically on the underside of the shaft. Meanwhile, a third may concentrate on the glans.

Measuring the results can also vary. A scientist with a large pool of funds may be able to invest in electronic devices that can provide a sensory picture of stimulation and can assess sensitivity in that manner. Another may use more of an "eyeball" approach, monitoring for how long and when and to what measureable degree a penis responds to certain stimuli. Still another method may involve "self-reporting," in which a scientist relies upon a test subject to relate when and how he is feeling stimulated.

One thing which would seem certain: these kinds of tests shouldn't be impacted by a lack of volunteer subjects. Most men would be eager to be part of a test that involved pleasuring their members.

What is known?
While there's not enough data to form hard and fast statements, most of the data indicates that an aging penis is less sensitive than a young one. There's general agreement that sensitivity seems to peak around age 25. This is followed by a very slow and gradual decline to around 65, after which there is a more pronounced decline.

The good news
Many men who read that last paragraph, especially those who are over 25, may feel a little panic. They may worry that their best days are behind them or that they are facing a life in which their previously-super powered penis is going to quickly become crotchety and unresponsive.
That's not the case. Scientists report that there is a decrease in sensitivity, but they also report that it's not something that most men notice. And doctors receive very few complaints about any age-related declines in organ sensation among their patients.

Why does this happen?
What accounts for this loss of sensation in the man's favorite body part? Basically, this happens because as the body ages, neurosensitivity diminishes throughout. Eyesight worsens. It becomes harder to hear. It's natural that the penis will have its share of diminished feeling.

In addition, the penis is dependent upon a good blood flow and people often develop circulatory issues as they age which can add to the deadening factor.

Finally, it's a natural part of operating one's equipment. Indulging in the pleasurable exercise of his penis for decades may just make a guy's member a little "used to" the sensations that give it pleasure.
Still, most guys don't need to worry. Even if the amount of sensitivity drops from its peak, most penises remain quite capable of providing pleasure well into a man's dotage.

One recommendation for helping maintain penis sensitivity is to make liberal use of a penis vitamin cream (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil) on a regular basis. It's a good idea to look for a cream with acetyl L carnitine, as this ingredient has been shown to enhance organ sensitivity through its neuroprotective qualities. Those creams that also have alpha lipoic acid are also recommended, as this ingredient positively impacts the aging process of penis cells.
