Brrrr! Winter Can Bring About Penis Rash

As the song says, during winter the weather outside is frightful - and that winter weather can bring about a penis health issue in the form of an unattractive penis rash. Sometimes a penis rash is merely a cosmetic inconvenience, meaning it looks bad but doesn’t otherwise affect a man. But more frequently, a penis rash can be accompanied by an underlying itch, which can be an added annoyance. Finding ways to get through a winter penis rash makes their occurrence easier.

Inevitable?

Will every man get a penis rash during winter? Of course not. Guys who are already prone to skin conditions are more likely to get one, but that change in the weather can cause anyone to be susceptible - so it’s advisable to keep an eye on the penis for any signs of a rash or itchiness.

Why should a change to winter weather bring about potential penis rash? It’s really kind of simple. A rash generally appears when there is some sort of imbalance in the skin, which may be brought about by a medical condition or may be brought about by the environment. Rashes are less common when skin is nice and moist, which requires that sufficient amounts of water and natural oils be in the skin. During the winter, the air itself is much drier than it is in warmer months, and that seeps water and oils from the skin, leading to dryness. Rashes may develop simply from the dryness or because the dryness makes medical conditions easier to "strike."

Among the causes of a penis rash are the following:

- Psoriasis. This autoimmune disorder causes skin cells to overproduce, creating a scaly plaque-like rash that is quite itchy.

- Dermatitis. Basically, dermatitis is a catch-all phrase for any inflammation of the skin. There are many types of dermatitis, and causes range from allergic reactions brought about by soaps or detergents to stress to eczema.

- Rosacea. This is a bacterial infection and its rash is usually accompanied by small, red bumps. Rosacea tends to occur on the face, but it is possible that it could appear on the penis.

- Cold urticaria. In some people, exposure to cold weather results in the development of red hives. This can look severe, but it typically is short-lived, going away within a couple of hours after a person enters a warmer environment.

Moisture is important

Some specific rashes may require specific treatments, but in general, a winter penis rash needs to be treated by increasing moisture to the penis skin. The following are some ways to try to keep the penis skin nicely moisturized during winter.

- Watch the hot water. When the weather outside is frigid, a nice hot shower or bath can feel really comforting. The problem is that hot water is not a friend to moisturizing. Ironically, soaking in hot water can actually deplete the skin of natural oils that it needs to stay hydrated. So taking a warm but not hot shower is a better idea.

- Use gentle cleansers. Many soaps, cleansers, and shampoos are treated with a variety of chemicals and fragrances, all of which can combine to dry the skin out. Opt for something milder and gentler instead - and the same goes for the detergent one uses to wash clothes (especially underwear).

- Use a penis health oil. Fight winter penis rash by daily applying a first-rate penis health oil ( health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin ). For the best results, find an oil that contains both a high-end emollient (such as shea butter) and a natural hydrator (such as vitamin E) to form a moisture shield to lock in hydration. Further strengthen the skin by selecting an oil that contains alpha lipoic acid, a potent antioxidant that helps fight free radicals that can otherwise bring about oxidative damage to the skin.

Fight Dry Penis Skin During the Winter

Notice that winter chill in the air? It’s hard not to in some places, but everywhere in the northern hemisphere, winter is on its way in. There are many things for a penis to love about winter, from sex in front of a roaring fire to the heat generated by two bodies interacting in sexual bliss. But, even for a member in good penis health, there can be some challenges associated with winter, not least of which can be dry penis skin. Since dry penis skin can present as flaky, scaly or simply unattractive, taking care of this issue is important for a guy to stay at the top of his game.

So what can a guy do to prevent and/or treat dry penis skin during the winter?

- Drink up. No, not the beer, the whiskey or the egg nog; we’re talking good old water here. Staying well hydrated supplies the skin all over the body - including the penis - with more reservoirs from which to draw so that dry penis skin will be less likely. Plus, it’s simply goof or one’s health to drink a sufficient amount of water - no matter the season.

- Humidify. When it’s cold outside, people like to keep it nice and toasty inside - and with good reason. Unfortunately, many heating sources (such as central heating, space heaters, etc.) tend to pull moisture out of the air, leaving less available for the skin to absorb and benefit from. Using a humidifier can help here, adding moisture back into the air where it can be freely used by penis skin (and skin elsewhere on the body.)

- Change out of damp clothes. Moisturizing is one thing, but stewing is another. Staying in damp clothes can cause skin to crack and peel - and that includes pants and underwear that may have gotten wet while romping delightedly in the snow.

- Avoid hot water baths and showers. It’s true that when it’s really cold, there’s a temptation to soak in a nice, hot bath or to go for a quicker, but equally hot, shower. It can feel good in the moment, but hot water actually depletes the skin of oils it needs to retain moisture. So stick to warm but not hot water when bathing or showering.

- Long underwear? Maybe not always. There’s a place for longjohns or thermal underwear during winter, and certainly anyone who will be outdoors in freezing temperatures for an extended period of time should consider wearing these underclothes. But once inside and warmed up, it’s best to shed that extra layer of (insulated) skin. When the penis gets overheated, it sweats, which again depletes the body of much-needed oils, resulting in that dry penis skin situation one wishes to avoid.

- Air it out. Assuming one’s home is warm and has a humidifier or is otherwise filled with appropriately moist air, it pays to let the penis "air out" a little, especially during the winter months. Because the penis is kept beneath (at least) two layers of clothing, and because the thatch of hair around it further insulates it, the sweat that tends to accumulate even during winter can, as noted before, dry out the skin. Letting the penis air out helps it to "breathe" and also helps dispel odors that may develop due to the heat.

One final and noteworthy tip: avoid dry penis skin during the winter by habitually applying a superior penis health oil (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin). The best bet is an oil with a combination of a high end emollient (such as shea butter) and a natural hydrator (such as vitamin E). The oil should also contain a potent antioxidant, such as alpha lipoic acid, to fight free radicals and the oxidative damage they can cause to penis skin.

Penis Protection from Winter Weather

Cuddling up by a nice roaring fire is a great way to beat the icy winter weather – but unfortunately, most men can’t spend the entire winter that way. Venturing out into the cold and the wind is a reality all have to face, and it pays to think about some penis protection strategies for the cold months. Penis health isn’t only a warm weather affair, of course, so taking steps to protect the member from the throes of winter is well worth it.

So what penis protection steps can a man take to keep his willie warm during winter?

Bundle up.

When heading out into a snowstorm – or just an intensely cold day, it pays to be well bundled up. People are very good about putting on scarves, gloves and hats, and many people layer themselves in sweaters as well as coats. But not every guy pays proper attention to the penis. There are several things a guy can do to help keep his manhood warmer. One simple DIY method is to place a sock inside the underwear, either wrapping it around the penis or sticking the penis inside of the sock’s open top. Wearing more than one pair of underwear can also help – for example, wearing a jock covered by a pair of briefs covered by boxers can be a good way to keep the cold away. And, especially for those athletically inclined who jog or run in the cold weather, wind briefs – which provide extra padding in the crotch – can be a good alternative. And this really should go without saying, but for those men who prefer to go commando – reserve this habit for the warmer days and put on at least one pair of underwear for the cold.

Warm up before going outside.

The penis will better resist the cold if it starts from a warmer place. Make sure that the house or apartment is sufficiently warm before getting dressed. If a guy has showered recently, be sure the penis is totally dry, a sweetness will make the penis that much colder. Add an extra layer of penis protection by warming the penis up in front of a fire (if one is handy), a heating source (without getting too close) or by rubbing it with one’s hands (if one can resist the urge to masturbate).

Tuck it in.

Sometimes a dude just needs to step outside for a few minutes and doesn’t want to go to the bother of layering on the underwear or standing in front of a fire. In such cases, one age old trick is to take the penis and tuck it down between the legs. It’s only a temporary solution, but it can work when just, say, quickly taking the garbage cans out to the street corner.

Stay excited.

The penis is naturally much warmer when it is erect. Cold air tends to have a deflating effect on the penis, but some men find that going outdoors with a full erection often provides enough heat for a while to keep away the excess cold.

Winter months also require penis protection beyond just the effects of cold weather, so reliable use of a top notch penis health creme (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin) is desirable. For example, cold weather often dries out penis skin, even when the member is not directly exposed to the air. For that reason, guys need a crème with a combination of moisturizing agents, such as shea butter and vitamin E. Penile circulation can also take a beating in the winter, so find a crème that also includes L-arginine. This amino acid helps boost nitric oxide, which in turn helps penile blood vessels expand, making them more receptive to warming blood flow.

Erect Penis Problems: The Impact of Winter Weather

For the man who enjoys his erect penis – which is just about every man – factors which have a negative impact on his equipment can be worrisome. As long as they don’t actually affect his penis health, various factors that may have more a “cosmetic” or superficial impact on his erect penis are not vital – but they can feel that way to a man who wants his erection to always be a source of pride. For many men, the dreaded “winter penis” can be just enough of a factor to be a thorn in their side.

About that winter penis

The winter penis is the opposite of the summer penis. Many men (and their partners) claim that their erect penis tends to be longer and firmer during the summer months. They’re not claiming that it grows massively longer, mind you; most of the time what’s being talked about is a few fractions of an inch. And there is some validity to this viewpoint: in summer months, the greater heat is thought to encourage greater blood flow in the penis, which in some cases can indeed cause it to expand slightly more than usual or to fill up to a firmness that is somewhat greater than under other circumstances.

The problem with summer penis is that if the warm weather can bring about this positive change, the cold weather can bring about the inverse – and thus, winter penis. So the theory behind winter penis is that the nasty, cold weather associated with the season makes for a less impressive erect penis. It tends to be shorter and not as manfully firm.

According to some people, the diminishment can be significant – up to 50% of length and up to 30% of girth, by the estimates of one person who claims to have looked into the matter on a professional basis. But these figures seem extreme and are likely not the experience of most men. (For example, it seems unlikely that a guy who typically sports a six inch erect penis would be reduced all the way down to a three inch one simply due to cold weather.)

Cold does matter

However, as any guy who has spent a few minutes in a cold swimming pool or ocean knows, cold is not a friend to the penis. And when cold weather is the norm – during the winter months, for example, the body often does undergo some changes.

For example, blood tends to get diverted from extremities, such as toes and fingers – and the penis. And the coldness also can affect to some degree the rate at which the blood flows around the body. So, yes, cold weather does mean that there may be a slight shrinkage – but only slight, in the same way that a summer penis may only see a slight addition in size.

In addition, colder weather also tends to have a de-sensitizing effect on the penis, so that it may take more effort and more time for the penis to become aroused and/or to reach orgasm.

To help counteract the effects of the cold, it’s better to wear snugly fitting underwear rather than looser ones. Some men also like to wrap a little pad of cloth or a (clean) sock around their penis to wear under the underwear on especially cold days.

Battling the effects of winter on an erect penis also requires the application of a first rate penis health creme (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin). A crème with L-arginine can help to boost nitric oxide production, which in turns helps open up penile blood vessels so there can be greater blood flow. And one with L-carnitine will provide neuroprotective benefits that can help ease de-sensitization of the penis.

Sex Tips and Penis Care for a Cold Winter

No matter what the time of year, a guy is going to want to have sex - but cold winter months can sometimes make that challenging. Challenging, but far from impossible. Men who want better sex during the brutish weather months can do so, providing they are practicing good penis care - and take advantage of these handy dandy sex tips.

1. Make the bed inviting. One of the drawbacks to hitting the sheets during the winter is that they tend to be cold. Even when the bedroom temperature is fairly toasty, sheets tend to be significantly cooler than the air in the room. So to avoid shivering in the sheets, plan in advance. Put away the summertime bedclothes and bring out some warm flannel sheets instead. Then place a nice electric blanket on top, and turn it on at a modest setting for 5 or 10 minutes before snuggling into position with a partner.

2. Keep the shades up. If the bedroom is situated so that nosy neighbors can’t see in, raise the shades or open the blinds when engaging in some bed-based morning calisthenics or afternoon delight. Why? Sunlight can help to add warmth, but more importantly, sunlight helps boost testosterone production - making a man feel just that much friskier.

3. Hit the sheets before dinner. Often a couple plans on some playtime after dinner, but find themselves a bit sleepy when the meal is over. This is especially true during the winter, when meals tend to be a bit more filling and when the body may crave more rest. It may be better to have a little fling before dinner, so that both partners are more receptive to a little beastly action.

4. Find warmth in other places. A warm bed is great in the winter, but are there other places in the house that can keep away the winter cold while kindling the inner flames? If a man is lucky enough to have a working fireplace, he should definitely take advantage of that. In addition to the warmth, fires tend to bring out a partner’s romantic inclinations.

No fireplace? How about the kitchen? Putting a casserole in the oven and then whiling away the cooking time on a comforter on the kitchen floor can be a new experience. And for the adventurous, take advantage of the clothes dryer. When it’s set on high, it generates some heat on the outside as well - and perhaps more importantly, it provides some interesting vibratory patterns which can take lovemaking to a different level.

5. Indulge in tea. Hot tea helps warm the body up. Drinking a little hot tea before pleasuring a partner orally can make the experience especially hot for them. (Rumor has it that there is something in peppermint tea that adds a special tingle to oral sex, by the way.)

6. Encourage her to keep her feet warm. Sex tips aren’t always applicable to both genders. Nobody wants cold feet in bed, but for some reason, women whose feet are kept warm are supposedly more likely to achieve that elusive orgasm. So men who are interested in keeping their woman very happy on a cold winter’s night should encourage her to keep those socks on.

Sex tips, whether for winter, summer, spring or fall, should also encourage men to keep their penis in great condition. Daily application of a top drawer penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin) can help achieve this goal. The wise man will select a crème that includes both vitamin B5 and D. Also known as pantothenic acid, vitamin B5 is required for proper cell metabolism and healthy penile tissue. And vitamin D is often called the "miracle vitamin" due to its contribution to fighting disease and supporting healthy cellular function. In any season, a good penis health crème is most welcome.

Fighting an Itchy Penis in the Winter

Some things are seasonal, others aren’t - and an itchy penis is a pest for all seasons. That said, there is definitely some seasonal variation in the cause of an itchy penis. There are factors associated with winter that can make a difference in penis health and the itch that all men experience at some point.

Many causes

As is well known, an itchy penis can be the result of many things, including jock itch, allergic reaction, scabies and other readily-identifiable causes. But often the itch simply results from a temporary irritant or environmental conditions that cause the skin to dry or become otherwise itch-prone.

The latter is often more frequently at work in winter than it is at other times of the year. To understand why, it’s necessary to look at the situations which cause dry, itchy skin in general during the winter.

Winter

What’s the defining characteristic of winter? Cold weather (although what constitutes cold weather on a tropical island is very different than what constitutes the same in northern Alaska). And when the temperature drops, conditions change both indoors and outdoors such that dry, itchy skin may develop.

Outside

Outside, cold weather is often accompanied by harsh winter winds. Exposed skin takes the brunt of it, but truly arctic blasts can cut through clothing and affect the skin all over the body. When that wind strikes, it creates a "windburn" situation which dries out the much-needed natural moisturizing skin oils.

But there’s another effect as well. People have to bundle up to withstand the frigid air. But often the outside wind chill shifts dramatically, so a man may experience periods of both extreme cold and not-so-extreme cold. And in the latter phases, being bundled up may make the body overheat, creating sweat. And often sweat serves to also deplete the body’s natural moisturizing oils.

Inside

Ah, but indoors, things are nice and cozy and climate-controlled, right? Not necessarily. Indoor heat often creates a dry, low-humidity situation - and that sucks the moisture right out of the skin as well.
These winter factors bring about dry, itchy skin in general and can also bring about an itch specifically on the penis.

What to do

So what can a man do to keep an itchy penis at bay in winter?

Hydration is the key here. Dry skin is an invitation to the itch factor, so find ways to keep the body moisturized. For overall body skin hydration, it makes sense to go with the obvious: drink plenty of water. If moisture is being pulled out of the body, put some of it back in. Too many adults do not get enough fluids anyway - and some of what they consider "fluids" aren’t helpful hydrators. Caffeinated drinks (coffee, tea, soda), for example, tend to have a somewhat de-hydrating effect.

It also pays to remember that liquids aren’t the only recourse for hydration. Increasing the consumption of many fruits and some vegetables is another good way to add water to the body.

And as for the itchy penis itself? What winter tips can be offered for it specifically? It can be very helpful to make application of a top drawer penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin) a part of a man’s daily health routine. Helping penis skin get rehydrated can relieve the itch, so a crème needs to have double-barreled moisturizing agents - such as Shea butter and vitamin E. Working together, these two can create a moisture seal that helps rehydrate and lock in that hydration. It also pays to use a creme with a potent antioxidant, such as alpha lipoic acid, which can add a back-up weapon to protect penile cells and keep them healthy rather than itchy.
