Does Penis Size Really Matter? The Answer and How a Man Can Make the Most of What He’s Got

It’s hard to believe, but nearly half of all men are a little touchy about penis size. When asking groups of men and women if penis size really matters, something interesting arose. There wasn’t just one answer. The answer was different based on situations and the relationship. Let’s take a looksie.

The Situation: The Inaugural Act

It’s the first time with a partner, and it’s usually a bit of an anxious moment. Surely every man wants the "WOW" when he frees his stallion. Here’s the beautiful thing about first times, the D isn’t the star of the show when it comes to overall evaluation and memory. A man merely needs to do two things:

- Last longer than the other dudes

- Do it all better on the first go ‘round than the majority of her/his sexual history

There’s so much going on in the moment that dick size will take a way, way back seat like the trunk of one of those 12 passenger woody station wagons. Have fun and enjoy the moment.

(Quasi) Relationships: The Hook-Up and One-Night Stands

Not surprisingly, women polled mentioned preferred penis size for these sorts of activities was longer and thicker than any other relationship (or lack thereof). Generally, looking for at least seven inches in length and a nice thickness. But why the want when, in other cases, women are less concerned?

Well, in a one-night stand, it’s all about the sex. There’s no real get-to-know-you as a person that can otherwise augment a woman’s feelings about you. When it comes down to the purely sexual, it’s physical and chemical, baby. Now, that’s not to say every woman is demanding you’re Dirk Diggler, it’s just they may get a little more excited for a meatier sausage.

Here's the thing, though. There are plenty of guys swinging a big stick who are crap in bed. Like, really bad. Women will not be singing their praises. It’s usually the opposite. What makes them give you the "five-stars would ride this ride again" review aside from package side? Proper hygiene and smell rank high, but not as high as men who are good kissers and are skilled and generous with oral sex.

Interestingly, on the other side of the fence, gentlemen who prefer men may not want to see one bigger than theirs as it can cause some comparison and competitive feelings. Big is also only desirable if the sex is good. It’s the same for everyone - the skill and generosity of a lover will always outrank size. And those things are entirely in a man’s control. That’s in essence how you can turn a good one-night stand into a friends-with-benefits situation, or more if you are so inclined.

Relationship: Playing the Long Game

Okay, so penis size isn’t the most crucial thing for a relationship to last the test of time, but it doesn’t hurt. Let’s put it simply: a big dick won’t drive a partner away (unless it’s painful), and it likewise won’t keep someone around.

An enjoyable sex life is key to a long-lasting relationship. The average penis size for men is 5.4 to 5.6 inches erect. Women polled generally all were happy with their dude’s hotdog. So, most men are getting the thumbs up on size. Less than 10 percent of women are unhappy with their partner’s schlong, so long as he’s awesome. So, be awesome and you’re golden.

How to Make the Most of What You’ve Got

Many men are happy with their trouser snake, but who doesn’t want a (third) leg up on the competition? Here are a few ways for a man to work what he got and also secure the #1 Lover mug he’s been wanting for Valentine’s Day. Incorporate one or more of these and will penis size really matter? Nah!

1) Trim the Bushes - Manscape to make your penis look bigger. Why hide your light under a basket (of pubes)?

2) Lose Some LBs - Whittle that waist to a healthy weight, and you could get some inches back. Some studies show that a 20-pound weight loss could get you an extra half inch.

3) Oral - Do it and do it well. Enough said on this one.

4) Break Open that Kama Sutra - Certain sexual positions are particularly effective for various sizes of penises. Do a little research and find the positions that best suit your unit (there are tons for every size) and keep those in the repertoire. It’s not to say don’t try others but know where your sweet spots are.

5) Keep it Fresh - No one wants to get face-to-face with a stinky wiener. Practice habitual hygiene! Wash daily or more if needed, be thorough, and rise well. Wear looser undies, so it doesn’t get dank in the drawers. Use a specially formulated penis health creme (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which has been clinically proven safe and mild for skin) to not only keep skin fresh but also to boost blood flow to the penis for a stronger, fuller erection that is sure to impress. Use once or twice daily for optimal penis health.

Here’s The Lowdown on the Latest Preferred Penis Size Study

Yeah, every guy has heard it at some point. He may believe it or not, but it’s out there. "Size doesn’t matter" is the heralding cry of people everywhere. Studies show that women don’t have a preferred penis size and are instead more interested in things that get them off like foreplay and oral attention. However, for some women, penis size does matter for certain kinds of orgasms, according to a new study. Let’s see what this study is saying.

Does Penis Size Really Matter? Yes, But…

A recent study shows that women who have frequent vaginal orgasms said they are more likely to hit the big O when their partner has a bigger wang. For women who prefer vaginal intercourse over other kinds of sex - oral, for instance - also prefer a larger penis. However, that’s not the whole story.

Preference vs. Proof

The first issue with preferred penis size is that there’s already a lot of unknowns about the female orgasm, specifically vaginal and clitoral. They may not be different things as once believed. See, different nerves transmit signals from the vagina and the clitoris, and stimulation of each triggers different brain regions. However, some researchers claim that vaginal stimulation is just stimulating a different, inner section of the clitoris. Women report distinctive sensations from vaginal and clitoral orgasms, but which one women prefer ultimately comes down to personal preference.

Breaking Down the Study

In the new study, researchers asked 323 women, mostly Scottish university students, to recall past sexual experiences. They were also asked about their current sexual activities as well as how essential penile-vaginal intercourse and other types of sex were to them. They were then asked if penis length impacted their ability to have a vaginal orgasm. The researchers defined the average penis length at 5.8 inches.

The first issue is that the study relies on memory, not clinical measurement. The next problem, not all women had enough sexual experience to make an accurate comparison or had never had a vaginal orgasm. Of the 160 women who had the experience, just over 34 percent preferred penis size that was longer than the average. Interestingly, 60 percent of the women said it didn’t matter, and 6 percent said longer was actually less pleasurable than shorter.

In the end, researchers found that women who reported the highest number of vaginal orgasms in the last 30 days were more likely to say longer was better. They believe that this is because a longer penis can stimulate the entire length of the vagina and the cervix, offering more stimulation.

In Conclusion

While the data is there that say some women do have a preferred penis size, it isn’t destiny. This very small sample size is not necessarily reflective of all women. It needs to be replicated with a much larger, more diverse sample group before any real, significant claims can be made.

Penis size is not the end-all, be-all for pleasuring a woman, so men who aren’t rocking a foot of man meat need not worry. Men concerned about performance should pay more attention to things like cuddling, foreplay, and other types of sexual stimulation and leave worries of size at the door. Of course, men who want a little extra oomph in the bedroom have found that using a penis health oil(health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which has been clinically proven safe and mild for skin) helps them perform more confidently and with greater vigor. This oil is chock-full of nutrients that not only boost blood flow but also makes the penis supple, strong, and smooth, providing a pleasant aesthetic effect as well. Use once or twice daily for best results and leave worrying about preferred penis size out in the cold.

Interesting Penis Problems that Can Be Remedied

Fortunately for most men, serious penis problems are not something they will ever have to deal with. Beyond the occasional penis rash and other irritations, problems of the genital area are blessedly few and far between. However, there can be some penis problems that don’t necessarily cause serious issues, but can be a huge annoyance or concern just the same.

For some of those problems, all it takes is stepping up the penis care game to get things back to normal. But for a few other problems, there are a few surprising remedies that almost instantly take care of the issue.

1) The temperature game. Every man has experienced the dreaded ‘shrinkage’ at some point. Ever step out of a cold shower to see a penis that doesn’t look quite manly? The good news is that temperature plays a huge role in how large the penis is. When the temperature around the penis drops to below 60 degrees, the length can shrink by up to 50% and the girth by up to 20%. That’s enough to make a man seek out warmer climates. And in fact, as soon as the temperature rises, the girth and length go back to normal.

2) Going up in smoke. There are few things that affect your entire body as much as smoking does. Smoke is drawn into your lungs and from there, affects every bodily system, including the reproductive organs. In fact, long-time smokers can see a reduction in their penis length by a centimeter or even more. This is because smoking gradually hardens the blood vessels, which makes it more difficult for blood to flow into the penis. Stop smoking, and over time the penis will actually ‘grow’ back to its proper size.

3) Getting constant wood. Sure, raising a pup tent at inopportune times is annoying and embarrassing, but look on the bright side: The body is doing exactly what it is supposed to do. In fact, those spontaneous stiffies serve the purpose of keeping the penis skin stretchy and soft, which promotes penis health. Most men have an average of eleven erections during the day and another nine at night.

4) Facing the competition. Many men view penis problems as ‘size’ problems - frankly, they often think they are on the small side. However, the average penis size is 5.2 inches in length and 4.6 inches in girth. Men will find that their partners are often quite happy with that or even less - especially since a smaller penis tends to be preferred for more adventurous bedroom activities. Here’s an interesting fact to drive the point home: Only a measly 6 percent of men actually need to purchase extra-large condoms.

5) Weight loss can help. Those who are overweight might view their penis as being surprisingly small, but that is not the case. The fat pad at the base of the penis can become enlarged when a man gains weight, and the result is a penis that looks smaller than it used to be. Losing weight can allow a man to ‘gain back’ that extra inch. As an added bonus, losing weight can boost energy levels, which can lead to more enjoyable fun in the sack.

Stop penis problems before they start

Let’s be honest: every man worries about his penis. For everyday worries, good penis care can help ensure that everything down there is as healthy as possible. Keep the penis clean, maintain good general health, and opt for a powerful penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven safe and mild for skin). Always look for a nutrient crème that is designed specifically for the penis, with numerous vitamins, amino acids and supplements blended into an emollient like Shea butter. Regular use of a penis health crème can go a long way toward great penile health.
