A Penis Pimple Quiz for the Afflicted Manhood – Tools for Clearing the Intimate Skin

Penis pimple panic sounds like an alliterative nightmare, but it is actual a real issue. Men who erupt in pimples, bumps or cysts down below may be frightened, worried or even angry; often, they have no idea what these bumps are, whether they are related to an infection contracted from a questionable partner, and what type of  penis care is required to get rid of them.

This quiz may help. First off, it provides men with the opportunity to learn more about what penis pimples are and how they can be treated. Secondly, working on this puzzle might help men to make better choices about their daily penile care.

Here's how it works. Each question is either true or false, and the answers are listed a little lower on the page.

The Questions
  1. Simple penis pimples are contagious. Men can catch them from their female partners, if these women have pimples on their intimate bits.

  1. Seeing a doctor isn't necessary if the problem is obviously a pimple.

  1. Penis pimples should never be squeezed or popped. Doing that could lead to even bigger problems, like infections and scarring.

  1. Using strong soaps and a scrub brush is ideal for men who have penis pimples to ensure that their skin is clean.

  1. Washing up every day with warm water should be enough to keep pimples away.

  1. Water is best used on the surface of the skin. Drinking it does nothing.

  1. Men with penis pimples shouldn't use any kind of lotion on the skin. It's too risky.

The Answers

  1. False. If the bumps a man sees down below really are pimples (blocked pores that have become infected), there's no real link to sexual contact. Just as pimples on a man's face don't immediately appear on a partner's face after a kiss, pimples on the penis don't come directly from the pimples on the body of another.

  1. False. There are all sorts of conditions that look a lot like penis pimples, and sometimes, men who guess at their diagnosis make big mistakes. They may assume they have herpes, for example, or they might brush off a cancerous lesion as a simple pimple. That's why a doctor should always get involved.

  1. True. While squeezing a penis pimple releases the pus that has built up inside, the pressure can cause damage to the pore that can cause scarring. Plus, popping some pimples means pushing hard, and that could drive some of the built-up material deeper into the dermal tissue, increasing the risk of infection.

  1. False. Penile tissues are incredibly sensitive. That's why sex feels so great. Attacking those tissues with harsh soaps and scrub brushes can irritate this delicate tissue, causing sore, red, inflamed skin. Enough of this mistreatment can even lead to loss of sensation, and it could take a long time to heal from that damage. Also, using harsh cleansers means stripping away the skin's natural oils, which could lead to even more pimples.

  1. True. A washing with warm water, which most guys can handle during their daily shower, is the best approach to cleansing the penile skin.

  1. False. Hydration is key in keeping penis pimples away. As water moves through the cells, it helps to push bacteria out. Water is also good for the overall health of the immune system. That's why men who have penis pimples should be sure to drink a lot of water, each and every day.

  1. Both true and false. On the one hand, the creams and medications that are designed to clear up acne pimples on the face and other parts of the body are much too harsh for the penile skin. These lotions contain chemicals that are extremely drying and may even burn the more delicate tissue below the belt.

On the other hand, there are some intimate lotions that are vital for penis health and can help combat pimples and other skin imperfections safely. For instance, a penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) containing ingredients such as vitamins E, A, C and D can experience a significant improvement in the look, feel and overall condition of their penile skin. Crèmes like this should not be applied to broken skin, but when used as directed, they can be an important part of a daily penis care routine.

Five Penis Pimple Questions - and Their Answers

Lumps and bumps on the penis are best handled by a doctor. That’s a fact. But most guys want to know a little more about what's going on downstairs before they walk into a doctor's office. That way, they can get through the initial Q&A part of the exam armed with some solid knowledge.
This article will help, as it provides common penis care questions involving pimples, as well as answers to those queries. It could be a good springboard for men who are dealing with red bumps down below.

Q. "Can I get acne on my penis?"
The short answer is "yes." The outer skin of the penis is made of the same dermal tissue that covers other acne-prone areas of the body, including the face, the back and the chest. The pores in the skin contain glands that secrete fatty, oily substances, and sometimes, those secretions block up the pores and allow acne cysts to form.

Q. "Are all red bumps that look like pimples actually pimples?"
Unfortunately, no. There are a number of different health conditions that can impact the penis that look like pimples but are caused by something quite different. In fact, these conditions can all cause symptoms that look a lot like acne:
  • Herpes
  • Syphilis
  • Molluscum contagiosum
  • Genital warts
Since red spots can be caused by so many different types of medical conditions, it's important for men to go to their doctors for an examination and a treatment plan.

Q. "Can I just pop these bumps and make them go away for good?"
While poking and prodding can seem efficient, it's not always a great idea. Breaking the skin means creating an opening for bacteria to enter the body, and attacking some types of lesions can deliver a bolt of pain that can bring a man to his knees. If the spots are caused by acne, they are best left to heal on their own, without any kind of poking. For men who are not willing to wait for nature to take its course, a doctor can provide a good plan for action.

Q. "If I've had penis pimples before, what can I do to make them stay away in the future?"
Penis pimples are certainly unsightly, and it's not unusual for men to want to keep them away for good. Thankfully, there are a number of reasonable steps men can take to keep the soreness and redness from coming back. Wearing cotton underwear is one such step. Clothing like this allows the skin to breathe, and this might mean fewer acne eruptions occur. Similarly, eliminating refined sugars from the diet might also help to calm skin. Skipping white bread, rice and pasta might seem difficult, but it could make a big difference in terms of a man's skin condition.

Q. "Can I use an over-the-counter acne crème on my penis?"
Most medications that are designed for acne relief are made to go on the face or the back. They contain very strong chemicals that dry up oil so there is a smaller amount of raw materials for bacteria to thrive upon. Often, these medications are much too harsh for the delicate tissues of the penis, and men who use them may to experience skin that's dry, cracked and sore. Skin like this tends to respond by kicking up oil production, too, and that could mean yet more acne appears.

A penis health crème might be a better option for acne relief. Quality products (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) contain emollients that keep skin hydrated and soft, reducing the risk of overproduction of oil. These products also contain vitamins and minerals that can support the immune system, so pimples will have less of a chance; those that contain vitamin A, in particular - often used in the treatment of acne - may be particularly effective. These are products made just for the penis, and they're a better choice for overall penis health.

Penis Pimples and How to Get Rid of Them

Acne, whiteheads, bumps, red spots, zits - whatever one calls them -pimples are pimples. Generally speaking, a pimple is not a wanted commodity, and even less so when one or two crop up on the penis. Penis pimples are even more painful and more embarrassing than the variety that appear on the face, and they are something no man wants to find down there. Find out what to do - and not do - if a bout of penis acne shows up in that most undesirable of places and how to prevent them in the future through proper penis care.

A guy can get pimples….down there?
Yes, next question. But seriously, a pimple can show up on a dude’s penis, and it is about as appealing and attractive as it sounds. A penis pimple might look the same as those on the face, but they do tend to be more painful, simply because the area is so much more sensitive.

What causes them?
The same basic things that cause pimples on the face lead them to show up on other areas of the body. Sweat, dirt, grime, and plugged pores all lead to those little white or red bumps. Sadly, these conditions are quite often found in a man’s undercarriage! And given that it is a hot, moist area that tends to not get a lot of air circulation, the area is full of bacteria, which can cause these nasty little bumps to show up. Ingrown hairs - especially those caused by shaving - are also prone to become infected, white bumps that form around the hair follicle; these can create a substantial and painful lump. In fact, the bumps can become so inflamed that some men actually mistake them for a sexually transmitted infection!

How does a guy get rid of them?

Step 1. First of all, never - NEVER - squeeze, pop, poke or pick at a penis pimple. Doing so only pushes bacteria further into the infected area and increases healing time.

Step 2. A man’s best course of action is to simply wash the affected area with gentle soap and water on a daily basis.

Step 3. Hot compresses can also be administered to help open up the pores.

Step 4. A man should never apply acne medication to his penis pimples. The medication used on the face often contains peroxide or salicylic acid, which are both too harsh for the gentle skin of the penis and would really sting if it got into the urethral opening on accident.

Can they be prevented?
Men hoping to avoid the problem altogether would be wise to step up their hygiene routine. Men who are particularly sweaty or prone to penis acne may need to shower more than once a day - or at least wash the area with a soap and washcloth if a second shower is out of the question. Any time a man works out, he needs to change out of his sweaty underclothes immediately after the workout, as sitting in sweaty athletic gear only breeds bacteria -- which contributes to penis acne. In such cases, it is also best to at least rinse off after a workout, even if there isn’t time for a full shower. Additionally, being careful with the razor - if it goes down there - can reduce the razor bumps that can form into acne-like bumps as well. Finally, using a penis health formula (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil) on a daily basis can also help to heal and prevent unfortunate penis pimples. Selecting a penis cream that contains vitamin A is especially important as it has antibacterial properties that are known to fight bacteria and infection. Vitamin A can speed healing and protect the penis from pimples, lumps, bumps and ingrown hairs - so use daily and apply liberally!

Pesky Penis Pimples - Keeping the Pecker Acne-Free

Few people are lucky enough to mature through adolescence without enduring a pimple or two….or twenty. Unfortunately, acne can leave equally prominent physical, as well as emotional scars - in terms of loss of self-esteem or self-confidence - on those who struggled with it. Most people believe that when one hits adulthood one will no longer have to deal with pimples and blackheads ever again, and while it is true that the incidence of adult acne is much lower and with less severity and frequency than the adolescent variety, many people never fully escape its red, bumpy grip. So what happens when a pimple appears in the least pimple-friendly of all areas - the penis? Learn more about the perils of penis pimples and how to keep the penis healthy.

Is a penis pimple different from a face pimple?
Not markedly, no. A penis pimple can very much resemble a face pimple in color, size and consistency, which should make it fairly easy to spot - though still shocking when it is located below the belt. Penis pimples develop because this hot, sweaty, bacteria-filled location is a perfect breeding ground for the little buggers. They can also form in the hair follicle or appear as the product of an ingrown hair which has become infected.

How are they treated?
The same basic rules that apply to caring for the face apply to caring for the penis. A penis should be washed gently with mild soap and warm water on a daily basis to rid if of dirt, grime and sweat buildup. Just like those on the face, penis pimples should not be pinched, popped, poked or prodded, as messing with them is likely to push bacteria into the pimples, which can actually make them worse. Though it is tempting to go to town and try to rid oneself of the bump, it will heal much faster if a warm compress is applied to it and it is otherwise left to heal. Unlike facial acne, a man should not put any acne medication on the area unless expressly instructed to do so by a doctor. The confined nature of a man’s underoo’s -whether boxers or briefs - makes it likely that the acne meds will rub off on the underwear and could transfer to the urethral opening -- which will not only burn with the fire of a thousand suns, but could cause a serious infection.

What if it is not a pimple?
There are instances in which a pimple is not a pimple. Any time a penis bump does not clear up on its own, or start looking better in a day or so, it is a wise decision to make a call to the doc. A penis bump - or several bumps - could be an indication of a sexually transmitted infection such as herpes, gonorrhea, or chlamydia. If the bump is not causing any pain and seems to be lessening, it’s probably okay to breath easy. However, if the bump becomes itchy, pussy, bleeds, blisters, cracks, is painful, or is accompanied by other symptoms such as fever, it is time to go to the doc right away. A doc may be able to diagnose the bump at first sight, but will likely swab it or test it to determine if it is caused by infection. If the bump is just a pimple, it is unlikely to need further treatment unless it has become seriously infected or irritated. If it is something more severe, he can prescribe an antibiotic or other medication to clear it up.

Can they be prevented?
The best way to prevent unwanted penis pimples is to keep the area clean, as bacteria and sweat definitely contribute to growth of acne. Showering after intense workouts and sex can also keep away unwanted bacteria. Adding a penis vitamin formula containing vitamin A (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil) can also help reduce the incidence of pimples naturally - and without harsh chemicals like peroxide or salicylic acid. Simply apply after cleansing the area in the shower and enjoy a clean, pimple free pecker!
