Penile Stretching Led to a Sore Penis: Now What?

In spite of the fact that most men possess a perfectly presentable penis - and that the partners of most men are sexually satisfied with the penis size of their partner - most men still harbor a desire for a bigger piece of equipment. One method that a person may employ in his search for a longer penis is penile stretching. Whether this works or not is the subject of some debate; some men swear by it, others claim it does not work at all. But regardless of efficacy, those concerned with penis health should know that stretching can in many cases result - not surprisingly - in a sore penis.

Stretching

The penis is clearly pliable and does a lot of stretching on its own—as any man knows from observing his own penis become engorged and erect when aroused. So there may be some superficial logic in seeing if it can be stretched a bit more beyond its current limit. And some doctors warn against penile stretching because of serious dangers associated with it. But suppose a guy is interested in such an activity. What kind of options does he have?

- Manual stretching. Although manual stretching may sound like just an excuse to masturbate more, practitioners claim there is a difference. Usually (though not always) when a man masturbates, he is trying to produce an erection and then provide manual stimulation such that he can bring his penis to ejaculation and orgasm. But with manual stretching, the idea is to grip the (soft) penis tightly below the head and then stretch it forward so he can really feel the stretch but without experiencing real pain. He holds it there for about 30 seconds (or longer if he is experienced), then releases the penis. He gives it a rest for 10 to 15 seconds, then stretches it again. Repeat, initially for perhaps 3 minutes, building up to 5 or 10, or longer if desired.

- Try traction. Many men advocate using a penis extender, which is similar to putting the penis in traction. An extender is a device that attaches at the base of the shaft and also under the head of the penis. Its length is changeable, so the idea is to stretch it to the desired length and then "lock" in the setting.

- The weights method. Finally, some guys like to hang weights from their penis and let gravity take care of the stretching. Small weights are put on a cord and the cord is securely looped around the head. It can be difficult to determine the appropriate amount of weights to use and the appropriate amount of time to use them.

Sore penis

Most men will experience a sore penis of some degree from penile stretching. The following can help provide soothing relief in that situation.

- Cool it. A cold compress wrapped in a loose towel can be applied to help the sore penis feel better.

- Take some aspirin. Any of several over-the-counter anti-inflammatories (such as aspirin) can aid a sore penis in getting relief.

- Moisturize. A sore penis from penile stretching may receive relief faster if a top-drawer penis health oil (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin) is employed. The best oil for this will include a combination of a natural hydrator (vitamin E is one) and a high-end emollient (such as luscious shea butter) in order to keep the skin smooth and supple. For extra benefit, choose an oil that also contains vitamin C, a key component of collagen, a tissue in the body that gives skin its tone and elasticity. Vitamin C also plays a role in maintaining blood flow to the penis.

Relieving a Sore Penis after Penile Stretching

Most men would like to possess a so-called “trouser snake” that is the equivalent of an anaconda – in spite of the fact that most guys know that size is less important than penis health and penis skill. More than a few men, unhappy with the length of their penis, decide to take steps to change its size, and often many look into penis stretching as an option. Since a good number of men follow this path, it’s necessary to point out that stretching often leads to a sore penis – and to offer some tips on soothing that soreness.

About penis stretching

As stated in our original article on this topic published on Ezinearticles.com, the goal of penis stretching is to add length to a guy’s penis. Whether it actually works or not is subject to debate, but there are three general methods used in penis stretching:

- Going manual. When guys hear about manual stretching, they often joke that it sounds just like masturbating. (And for many guys who employ this method, it does actually often lead to masturbation.) Technically, however, the goal of manual penis stretching is to avoid arousal. In this method, a guy grips his flaccid penis directly behind the glans and pulls it forward until he can really feel the stretch but not to the point where it actually hurts. He holds it in the stretched position for about 30 seconds, then returns to the starting position and lets it rest a few seconds. This should be repeated for at least 5 minutes, with the goal of building up to several 5-minute sets every day (or night).

- Using weights. In this method, small weights are attached to a cord and the cord is then attached behind the glans. The added weight pulls down on the penis, stretching it out. (Using too much weight or stretching for too long a time can obviously create a very sore penis.)

- Employing an extender. Also referred to as putting the penis in traction, using an extender involves sliding the shaft into a device which attaches at the base and under the glans. The device is then extended, providing the stretch.

Tending to the sore penis

There is the potential for penile soreness with any of the above stretching methods, so enthusiasts should be prepared to tend to any sore penis that results. Some sore penis soothing suggestions include:

- Cool it down. When tissue is stressed, it often responds to something cold being applied to it. Making a cold compress and applying it for short intervals to the sore penis can be a big help. (Do not directly apply ice or any cold object to the penis, as this can result in injury; wrap it in a towel or provide some other buffer instead.) Be sure not to use too cold an object.

- Try some over-the-counter relief. Anti-inflammatories, like aspirin or ibuprofen, easily available from the corner drug store, ca also help relieve superficial soreness.

- Air it out. Often a sore penis is over-sensitive and so wearing clothing may exacerbate the soreness. If possible, keep the pants and underwear off for extended periods of time until the soreness is gone.

- Moisturize a sore penis resulting from stretching. Application of a first class penis health creme (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin) is an excellent way to moisturize the penis skin, which can in turn help provide relief to soreness. Select a crème that contains both a high end emollient (such as shea butter) and a natural hydrator (such as vitamin E). Try to find a crème that also include vitamin C, as this vitamin is also a key component of collagen, a tissue in the body that gives skin its tone and elasticity.

When Penis Stretching Causes Penis Pain

How long has penis size been an issue for men? Probably from the first time two cavemen caught glimpses of each other and noticed some difference down below. While penis size itself is not typically considered a penis health issue, efforts by men to increase their penis size can be. For example, many men engage in penis stretching as one way to enlarge their penis. Whether this is something that works or not is debatable, but it is definitely something men try. And sometimes there can be penis pain associated with it.

How stretching works

As any man who has ever masturbated knows, the penis is a very pliable, stretchy organ. When flaccid, it can be pulled to different lengths with relative ease (although with some resulting penis pain, depending on how far and how firmly it is pulled). This stretchiness, of course, is essential for the erectile process - and indeed, when fully erect, there is much less stretch to the penis.

The idea behind penis stretching is that if the penis is stretched often enough, the tissue itself will eventually stretch as well, resulting in a longer penis. Most medical professionals refute this theory, but many men attempt it and there have been individuals who claim to have seen increases (some substantial).

Two methods

There basically are two ways that a man can try to stretch his penis: Manually or using a penis extender.

1) Manual. This is the ultimate in DIY activities, as it involves nothing more than a guy’s penis and his own hand. There are numerous variations on how to manually stretch the penis, but a typical one involves wrapping the hand around the penis directly below the head and stretching it as far as it will stretch. The man should hold the stretch for a minimum of 30 seconds and then release. After letting the penis rest for a few seconds, he should repeat. Many recommend pulling the penis in alternating directions - upward, downward, left and right - in order to stretch the entire penis. The stretching should be repeated 3 times. As a man progresses, he should increase the number of stretches and the number of times he engages in stretching.

2) Penis extender. A penis extender attaches at the base of the penis and again just below the head. It then extends out, stretching the penis. In some versions, the portion that is attached to the head may further be tied around the upper thigh for extra security. The extender is meant to be worn for an extended period of time each day, sometimes for several hours.

It’s pretty easy to see how either of the above methods could lead to penis pain - and, indeed, some doctors warn that stretching, especially when using an extender, can lead to torn tissue or other concerning damage to the penis.

If, however, the resultant penis pain is simple soreness, there are some steps that can help alleviate the pain. These include:

- Suspending the penis stretching exercises.

- Wrapping the penis in a moderately cool compress - but not too cold, or it can cause damage to the skin.

- Taking an over-the-counter pain reliever.

Men should take great care when engaging in penis stretching, especially since most penises are of perfectly adequate size and the penis pain may not be worth it. Soreness can also be battled by using a superior penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin). The best crème will include vitamin C as well as natural hydrating agents. Vitamin C is crucial because it is essential for helping giving penis skin tone and elasticity. And ingredients like Shea butter and vitamin E can help hydrate the skin, keeping it supple and more prone to stretching.
