Some Treatments May Affect Penis Size

Life is full of trade-offs. Giving up that extra dessert in order to look good in those tight pants, for example, or eating in instead of out in order to help finance that vacation trip. But sometimes there may be unexpected trade-offs a guy doesn’t even know about. For example, occasionally a man may need some medical treatments to address a concern but they could have unexpected side effects. And if those side effects are in the area of penis care, that can be especially concerning. Yet there are some treatments which may just do that, by potentially decreasing penis size - not something that most men would want to happen.

Peyronie’s disease

Peyronie’s disease is a condition in which a man’s penis bends at an extreme angle when erect. Many, many men have some degree of curvature to their erect penis, either up, down or to one side, and that is perfectly normal. But with Peyronie’s disease, the curvature is so extreme that it can interfere with proper functioning and often causes pain when the penis is erect.

One of the side effects of Peyronie’s disease is that the curvature can effectively shorten the penis. But penis size can also be affected by treatments for Peyronie’s. If a patient undergoes plication surgery for Peyronie’s, penis size is almost always affected. That’s because plication involves shortening the unaffected side of the penis, tucking it in so that the bent side straightens out. The amount of length lost depends upon the degree of curvature.

Implants

Some men have severe erectile dysfunction issues that are non-responsive to most recommended treatments. In such cases, a man may opt for an inflatable penis prosthetic, commonly called an implant. While many men hope that this procedure will actually result in greater penis size, it often has the opposite effect. The surgical procedure to place the implant in the penis may result in some scarring, which may take off a small degree of erect penis size. Many men are happy for this trade-off if it means they can once again enjoy a more active sexual life - but they should know about the potential reduction in penis size so they can make an informed choice.

Prostate surgery

Prostate issues, especially prostate cancer, are serious. In some cases, the optimal treatment is a radical prostatectomy, in which the entire prostate and seminal vesicles are removed. In such cases, there may be a diminution of penis size, most likely related to the unwanted development of penile fibrosis.

In some cases, other treatments for prostate cancer may result in less penis length. There have been such instances reported both for androgen suppression coupled with radiation therapy and for androgen suppression alone.

Some men may face an inevitable trade-off with penis size in order to treat prostate cancer, but because of the potential seriousness of the cancer, it may be necessary.

Men who experience a negative change in penis size due to medical treatments may experience self-consciousness, sorrow or depression. In such cases, they should seek professional mental health assistance to properly process and handle these feelings.

Treatments that affect penis size but cure other issues can be challenging. So can maintaining everyday penis health, but that challenge is made easier by the regular use of a superior penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin). A crème with the amino acid L-arginine can help keep penile blood vessels healthy by helping create valuable nitric oxide. The crème should also include vitamins A, B5, C, D and E; topical application directly to the member can help boost penis health.

Itchy Penis? Try These Treatments

It’s hard for a dude to be a smooth player and come across as chill and in charge when he’s constantly scratching his crotch due to an incessantly itchy penis. The fact is, an itchy penis is a very common affliction, even among men who seem super cool. It can also be a sign of a potential penis health issue, so discovering effective treatments for this problem is advised.

Many causes

Of course, there can be many causes of an itchy penis, ranging from the serious to the benign. Some of the causes may include:

- Jock itch.

- Yeast infection.

- Scabies or crabs.

- Sexually-transmitted infection (STI), such as genital herpes or genital warts.

- Allergic reaction.

- Eczema, psoriasis or other dry skin conditions.

Identifying the cause of an itchy penis will determine the treatments necessary for relief. In many instances, a visit to the doctor may be necessary to identify the cause and go over possible treatments. For example, a doctor definitely needs to be involved in treating any STIs. Often, a yeast infection, scabies or crabs may also require consultation with a doctor to definitively diagnose the problem and discover appropriate treatments.

Sometimes, however, a man may be able to pinpoint the cause of his itchy penis without a visit to the doctor - especially if this is a recurring problem which was previously diagnosed by a physician. For example, jock itch is a very common problem among men, especially those involved in athletics or who frequent a gym. Similarly, common dermatological issues such as eczema may not always require a doctor - although one really should be consulted if initial efforts to treat do not have a positive outcome.

Treatments

Sometimes allergic reactions are the easiest to treat - provided a guy is pretty confident as to what his penis is allergic to. For example, some men have a latex allergy and find that they develop a rash or itchiness after using latex condoms - in which case, switching to non-latex protections is necessary.

It’s also not uncommon for a man’s penis skin to react negatively to chemicals or fragrances found in soaps, shampoos and detergents. If a guy is using a new cleanser and a rash or itching appears, going back to a tried-and-true cleanser may be all that is needed to correct the problem. Also, utilizing products marked as "hypoallergenic" may be beneficial.

Many times, itchiness is due to skin being too dry. Being sure the penis skin is kept well moisturized can help with this problem, which can also be a contributing factor to eczema, psoriasis, etc.

Hygiene is also an important factor in fighting many itchy issues, including scabies and crabs. A man should regularly wash his penis and the entire mid-section - using, of course, a soap that does not dry out the skin or cause an allergic reaction.

Sweat can create the conditions for itchiness, so airing out the penis regularly can help. If possible, a man should spend a couple of hours each day naked. This can also help diminish unwanted and persistent penis odor.

While having an itchy penis is not the worst problem in the world, it’s worth the effort of trying simple treatments to solve the problem. One final tip: daily apply a top notch penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin) to the organ. For optimal results, select a crème that includes both a high-end emollient (such as Shea butter) and a natural hydrator (such as vitamin E) among its ingredients. This will help properly moisturize the delicate penis skin. The crème should also possess vitamin D, which has proven benefits in fighting diseases and supporting healthy cellular function.

Sore Penis Treatments to Bring Relief

One of the reasons many men take pains to practice expert penis care is to keep pains from happening to their penis. After all, a sore penis is not only uncomfortable - it can get in the way of a lot of sexual fun and games. Still, even the most conscientious man sometimes gets a sore penis, so knowing the treatments that can get the manhood back into proper shape is advised.

With that in mind, the following treatments may be handy when a sore penis rears its ugly head.

- Give it a break. Probably the most important (and sensible) thing to do when penis pain is present is to let the member get a good rest. That means exercising control and not engaging in sex - whether solo or partner-based - no matter how badly a man wants it. Otherwise, a guy may himself in a situation in which the sex causes so much pain that he has to break off halfway through - not an ideal situation for the man or his partner. And even if he soldiers on, he’s likely to be left with a much sorer penis, necessitating an even longer break from action.

So how long should the penis be allowed to rest? That depends entirely on just how sore it is and on the recuperative powers of its owner. But it’s better to err a little on the side of caution, just to be sure the penis is back in fine fettle before jumping into action again.

- Pamper it in the bathtub. Showers are the preferred form of bathing for most adult men, but when a really sore penis is present, a guy should consider treating himself and his penis to a nice, long, warm bath. The warmth of the water flowing all around the penis can help to soothe aching muscles and relax the penile blood vessels that have been called on to do a lot of heavy lifting during the erectile process. Be sure the water is warm but not hot; too much heat can be damaging, especially to sensitive penis skin.

- Wrap it up. Swaddling the penis can also provide some extra comfort when it is sore. Take a small towel, scarf or muffler and wrap it securely but not too tightly around the penis (and balls, if desired). This also warms up the penis, much as the warm bathwater does; in addition, the extra support of the wrapping keeps the penis from swinging and banging against thighs or other objects. Swaddling the penis for an hour or two at night can help promote soreness relief.

- Then go bare. After swaddling the penis, it’s often helpful to let it "hang out" for a while. Walking around the house naked allows the penis to get more fresh air than it normally would, and that can help speed along the healing process - especially because this means the penis won’t be rubbing against any potentially irritating fabrics.

- Put on the crème. One of the most effective treatments for a sore penis is to apply a really exceptional penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin). As with the rest of the body, the healthier the penis is, the faster it heals and the more quickly soreness is banished. Often a sore penis is exacerbated by dry or rashy penis skin, so selecting a crème that can attack skin issues is a plus. The right crème for the job is one that can rehydrate the skin with a potent combination of moisturizers (such as Shea butter and vitamin E). It is suggested that the crème also contain vitamin C, which is known for its role in collagen production, collagen benefiting the skin by its ability to promote elasticity. The right crème can be a boon to alleviating a sore penis.
